We just returned from our 9-day stay at the Melia Ho Tram Beach Resort which was booked through Luxury Escapes. This was an all-inclusive package which included all meals, snacks, activities, and drinks throughout the resort. Luxury Escapes also included a 3 GB SIM Card for quick access to phone or data when you arrive. This came in very handy! Let’s get to it. We arrived on a Saturday through Ho Chi Mihn City airport. Although the resort did offer transportation from airport to the resort, it normally departs the airport at 6 PM. As we arrived at 10 AM, we opted to purchase our own private car transportation. We got through the immigration process in a fairly decent amount of time and bags were waiting for us at baggage claim. We then walked out to the transportation meeting point where our driver was ready for us. The drive to the Resort took approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes as the traffic near the airport was extensive. As we arrived at the Melia Resort, we quickly understood the previous reviews mentioning the isolated location. However, we were greeted with smiling faces and brisked off to the special check-in space for our Level reservation. As we arrived early in the day, our room was not ready yet. We were offered drinks, snacks, and a place to wait for our room in the Level Lounge. The lounge was not too big but it appeared to be the right size as many guests had other facilities they used and enjoyed throughout their stay. About an hour and a half later, we were informed of our room being ready. We were driven over to our 1 Bedroom Villa via one of the many golf carts they use around the resort. The Villa was very nice, large, and COOL. The weather is very humid and hot, so walking into our cold Villa felt great. The Villa had a very large living area upon walking in with a small kitchen like area with a fully stocked refrigerator, snacks, and the usual coffee offerings. This main living area had a large couch/sofa, a 5-chair dining set, a tv, and two large sliding doors to get you to the Villa’s own pool. There was also a half bath near the door for all to use. The main bedroom was just as large with a king bed, a siting area, work desk, a tv, and a sliding door to get to the pool as well. The bathroom was large as well with a tub, separate large shower, separate toilet area, double sinks, and plenty of lighting. If there is something one shouldn’t complain about is the amount of space available in this Villa for the guests and their belongings. Housekeeping was great with replenishment of room items daily and nightly turndown service. Three main restaurants were available throughout our stay. There was SASA which offered a buffet breakfast and lunch menu. Although closed for dinner, it had plenty of food options and the breakfast spread was plentiful. BREEZA was the main restaurant near the beach and the main pool area which remained open for lunch and dinner. This restaurant had an extensive menu and a themed night dinner on Saturdays. Catie and Hari were two staff members at this restaurant that always engaged with us and got to know us during our long stay. This restaurant was also opened to Level guests on weekends for a breakfast buffet on weekends. The buffet spread was slightly larger than what SASA serves and the beach/pool views were fantastic. Finally, there is MOUI. This restaurant is located right above BREEZA and offers even better views of the beach, pool, and sunsets. The skies had a very unique and beautiful blue hue in the evenings after sunset and could be seen clearly from atop Moui’s outside seating area. However, this was the only disappointing restaurant we experienced. The food was very bland and was also the only restaurant that was not able to provide some of the main dishes listed on the menu on two occasions. One final area I will mention is ELYXR Café. This is a coffee, drinks, and dessert café located near the lobby and the Level Lounge. We found ourselves visiting this café daily for their fresh and great tasting smoothies, shakes, and desserts. Ngân was very inviting and always had a smile on her face. Very pleasurable staff member! The main pool area was great as it had a very large swimming area with plenty of cabanas and loungers. The pool was located right in front of the beach, so you had the option of where you wanted to swim. There were lifeguards at the pool and the beach area. The lifeguards were very attentive to the swimmers and made the extra effort to ensure small children had the proper swimming safety gear on. The pool area also had a separate swimming area for the smaller children to enjoy. As a Level guest staying in a Villa, there was a separate Level Pool on the other side of the resort for adults only. It was on a smaller scale than the main pool, but offered adults some quiet time poolside with access to the beach as well. This pool offered drinks from a bar, but there was no restaurant like with the main pool area to order food. Very nice area away from all the hustle and bustle of the main pool. The main pool offered food ordering and drink options from BREEZA which was right next door to the pool. As we like to work out, we used the gym quite often. The gym had two treadmills, two ellipticals, and two stationary bikes. For weights, they had the standard rack from 2.5-25 Kg free weights along with two benches. They also had smith machine like equipment to work out your chest, back, and legs. There was a separate area for stretching, calisthenics, and other activities. Towels, fruits, and water were also available in the gym. Although we could use the treadmills, we opted to walk the resort to burn the extra calories in the heat instead. Other activities that were available were cooking classes, bikes to ride throughout the resort, yoga classes, stretch classes, an included bus shuttle to Vung Tau (a small town about 50 minutes away), and plenty more. The daily bus shuttle to Ho Chi Mihn City was also another option we experienced to get to see the former Saigon area. This trip takes approximately 2 hours to get to the drop-off point and then you spend about 6 hours there sightseeing. We then returned to the drop-off point to be taken back to the resort. Although this is an available option, be prepared for a very long day as the bus departs at 11 AM for Ho Chi Mihn City and departs to return to the resort at 7 PM (arrives at resort approximately 9 PM). Our package included two 60-minute massages per person at the spa. These massages were probably one of the highlights of our trip. We truly enjoyed both of the massages and ensured we staggered them throughout our stay to maximize the relaxation. Our first two massages were performed by Trâm and Yen. These women did a great job and we were fully relaxed after the massages. Our second set was performed by Thuong and Nhu two days prior to our departure. These two women were equally great and these two final massages prepared us for our long trip back home to the US. Other spa treatments were offered but we opted not to add any during our stay. There is a pier called The Hamptons nearby which we walked to from the resort but found that most, if not all, storefronts were closed or vacated. There was only one seafood restaurant open but did not look too appealing. The pier itself is just that, a pier. We walked it to say that we did, but nothing spectacular to see or do there. On the other side of the resort, there was an entertainment area but it was also pretty much vacated like The Hamptons. This is probably the only major negative that I believe can be improved with time and more local infrastructure. This vacation was a great way to just relax and enjoy the many amenities and inclusions that came with this package. However, all of this doesn’t just happen. There were many staff members throughout the whole resort that ensured each and every guest truly enjoyed their stay. The entire staff were professional, enthusiastic, and made sure that anything we needed or requested was provided. They were fantastic! The food was also great at all venues! We were able to try almost all of the options available on the all-inclusive menus over our 9-day stay. There is also an ATM on site at the lobby in case you require cash withdrawals. The following staff members definitely deserve a special mention as they made our stay memorable. The engagements and conversations with each of them were pleasurable. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable! Trâm, Yen, Thuong, and Nhu (Massages @ the SPA) Ngân (Daily smoothies @ ELYXR Cafe) Hari and Catie (Meals @ BREEZA) Ngoc (Check-in @ Level Lounge) Overall, we rated The Melia Ho Tram Beach Resort as 9 out of 10. The main reason for not being a 10 rating is because of its isolated location without much to do nearby and our disappointing experience at MOUI. Once the area improves or develops a bit more, then it may achieve a 10 rating.

Partner and I got a lovely couples massage from Ha and Trinh, highly recommend!
