Résidence Club MMV Les Clarines

I rarely write reviews, but I am doing this to give some info to anyone who stays here. As we booked Les Clarines before we looked at the poor ratings this place gets we were shocked to see so many negative reviews so after reading all the reviews we sifted through the many silly moans and just made sure we stuck to the house rules. First thing to understand is that this is an apartment building and its big, consisting of 4 separate buildings only connected on floor 5, Reception is on 0 and the ski locker is under reception on -1. It is ski in ski out but currently only via the rear of the building on level 8, this is because the elevator just outside the ski room which is not owned by the hotel but the ski lift company is not working so you cannot easily get to the gondola. You can store your ski equipment in your apartment but you cannot wear your ski/snowboard boots in the building as they will fine you so you need to walk in socks to the door or take some cheap footwear to leave inside the doorway and change into your ski boots outside the entrance on level 8. Its not an issue. Remember its an apartment so like any apartment you rent you will have to buy your own cleaning items & toilet roll when the starter pack is used up. Its not a hotel. They ask you to clean up after yourselves or they will charge you to do it for you which I don’t find unreasonable

Nice modern, clean apartment with good views and a great base for exploring L2A and nearby mountains and villages, like taking the Gondola down to Venosc.

Very helpful phone calls prior to the visit. Very clean and functional apartments. We really appreciate that the kitchen has lots of useful utensils, stove and oven. The layout of the buildings is a bit confusing but we eventually figured it out. Love the pool and the hammam.

The location was excellent with a terrific view of the mountains. However the MMV Resort could improve on several aspects to match the scenery. Parking was a bit messy, EV charging was somewhat of a joke (only 4.5 kW capacity available), the elevators were out of order several times during our weeklong stay (unfortunate as there are A LOT of floors and buildings to navigate), the pool was a bit too cold and pretty much all entertainment for kids was only in French

Our group of six had no issue paying the £75 deposit each (£450 in total). However, we were very disappointed to find that part of our deposit was withheld after our stay. We were charged for not disposing of our rubbish, despite the apartment being self-cleaning and us thoroughly cleaning every room—leaving it in better condition than when we arrived. Before checking out, I even filmed the entire apartment as a precaution, showing every room spotless. When I submitted the video to dispute the charge, the appeal was rejected, with the claim that not all areas were shown—despite clear footage of the whole apartment. It feels unfair and disheartening, especially since we went out of our way to leave the place spotless. I suspect we’re not the only guests who’ve had this experience—it seems like an easy way to withhold deposits from groups assuming they won’t challenge it. I’d advise future guests to be very cautious and document everything thoroughly should you want to risk staying here & getting charged extra.
