Parkhotel Zanzanu

Hotel location is reasonably good if you don’t want to travel more than 10 kilometers (50km ride to Sirmione is 1.5 hour due to everyday traffic jams). Views are really nice. However, the FOOD IS TERRIBLE. We ordered half board and had to cancel the dinner after its first experience. The QUALITY IS WAY not only BELOW any Italian standard but below any ** hotel standard!!! E.g. supermarket overcooked pasta with ketchup was one of the first courses. Breakfast scrambled eggs were green!! Selection was completely poor and low cost, leftovers from dinner were served during breakfast, insects were digging into the ham, etc. etc. Some photos attached.

A memorable stop to this Hotel for cocktail and dinner on their fabulous terrace, 400m above Guarda Lake. Hotel facilities also appear astonishing with large balconies. Food was very good, almost gastronomic. A place to stop to at least have a drink under the sun on their terrace.

Well location and staff get 5/5, you can have breakfast outside overlooking the lake and mountain panorama, which I would recommend! The room’s interior is quite old, looks like my grandmas place, but okay, not too comfortable. The balcony with lake view makes up for that. Room gets 3/5 also because people can look into your balcony (very close to each other). If you are someone looking for a walk by the water front, that’s a drive away, so nothing without a car! Consider that when booking! The town of Tignale with good restaurants (not really with a great view but good food for good prices) is a 4 min drive away. Some might like it, but I miss the vacation feeling when all the people checked in and the staff talk German all day...that’s 2/5 for me. Kills the vacation mood. Food is good. Prices for drinks and snacks are very good! Overall a nice place to stay! Parking is free. Towns like Limone and Maderno are close (25 min drive).

This hotel was just what we needed a year after our daughter's diagnosis with coeliac disease. It was wonderful to have a week when we didn't need to worry about food for a change as their provision for gluten-free and other special diets. On top of that, the service and quality of the accommodation were excellent. We booked through Gilli's Holidays and also received excellent, personal service from her. We opted for half-board for the first time in our lives and were really glad we did. As well as a comprehensive breakfast for both gluten-eaters and coeliacs we enjoyed a high-quality four-course meal every evening for barely a higher price than bed & breakfast. The menu was varied, offering several options each evening, most of which could be offered gluten-free as well. Our 4.5-year-old daughter loved trying so many new things and for once didn't feel limited or singled out. Our little one (1.5) also ate like a queen, although she usually filled up at the extensive salad bar at the start of the meal! On most days we asked for a packed lunch too. The lunches were great and very cheap. One thing to watch out for with the food: we had said when booking that our daughter was dairy-free as well as gluten-free but the hotel seemed to think she was lactose-free instead. They provided all kinds of wonderful lactose-free dairy products but hadn't bought in soya milk, etc. in yime for our stay. We are working up the milk ladder and all is going well so we decided just to go with it and not make a fuss - and luckily everything was fine. I'm sure that they would have taken alternative measures if we had asked them to. If you book there and have a milk allergy, make sure to be very clear that lactose is not the problem. I'm sure they will do a great job of accommodating. We opted for a two-bedroom apartment (just up the hill from the main building) so that we could have some time off in the evenings while the girls were asleep. It also meant that we had a fridge and some basic cooking facilities if we needed them (although we didn't really). The apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious. Our little one slept in a travel cot (provided) in our room and our older daughter had the twin room to herself: you could easily have had three kids in there too. As we were there in April the outdoor pool wasn't open yet but there was a small indoor pool. We did feel a bit bad having the kids splash around in it while other people were trying to relax but we received no complaints and the kids gad a great time. It was a bit of a shame that it wasn't more child-friendly but I suppose that wasn't the hotel's main aim in having it there. There was also a small playpark outside, just right for young kids like ours. The only point for improvement we could identify was that the showers - at the pool were surprisingly poor. That may not matter for people staying at the main hotel who could shower in their rooms after swimming, but as we were in an apartment it was a bit of an annoyance for us. Not enough to affect our 5-star review though!

Excellent Hotel rented a suite for the weekend. The buffet for breakfast and dinner has a vast choice of food. It's also serves quality food for gluten Intolerant costumers. The hotel swimming pool might be a bit smaller confronted with a standard size pool but the light play with coloured lights altering makes up for it as it creates a relaxing environment. It has also in it's favour a very beautiful location. I'll be sure to revisit this place.
