Hotel L'Approdo

A nice hotel with limited transport options September 2025 Logistics: Visited for a week on a tour using hotel as a base. There is negligible public transport here, no short run taxis, no hotel shuttle just an infrequent boat ferry so you really need a car here to get around. There is a Connad supermarket 1 mile away in Pettenasco, best take the lakeside walk if on foot. This hotel is directly on the lake and is generally quiet except on saturday night if a function is on Hotel: reception staff all good. The facilities just make a four star hotel rating. There is no inside pool and the outside one is not heated so its cool from September on, the lake is actually warmer to swim in. The Main issue for everyone i spoke to was that the aircon doesnt work properly and my room no exception. i would open my patio doors with the net curtain across (to keep the bugs out) first and last thing to air the room. In my room i had three big concrete steps down from the toilet to the bedroom area with no hand rail so you really needed to take care going to the loo at night. there are no led illuminators to illuminate the steps like on more modern hotels. Food was pretty good, breakfast had fresh orange juice for example and a lovely lady barista for coffee on request. My room was a good size, clean with good shower, bidet and a modest terraced area. Clothes didnt really dry for me but i noticed the bathroom radiator was electric and you could use that Its a pity they dont run a little courtesy bus here and there or even with a charge. There are local places which have good walks but without a taxi or public transport you simply cant get around easily. The main road has no pavement so its not ideal. there are some miscellaneous boats you can hire and i think a couple of nicycles

After reading so many damning reviews I was worried about coming here BUT it did exceed our expectations- the location is quiet, stunning views and you can literally walk into the lake which is beautiful clean and warm! You can easily get a taxi into Orta where there are more restaurants and shops but there is a supermarket and bars / places to eat within walking distance! The hotel itself does need a bit of updating but it was kept clean. The pool does need a more deeper and regular clean but Overall for the money we paid, it was a very decent hotel and the staff were very helpful especially the cocktail bar - the man there was very charming and attentive!

10 years since our last visit and still a wonderful hotel and great location. Outside the hotel looks really tired but inside it’s not, rooms look like they have been updated since our last visit. Food is very good and location superb for getting around the area.

Avoid this hotel like the plague. Aircon not working in many rooms and we had to sleep in 30 degrees heat all week. Food was poor and limited choice for breakfast. Service was very poor. Our room was very shabby. The hotel needs a lot of money spent on it. The aircon hasn’t worked in many rooms for a couple of years we understand. They will offer you a fan if you complain.

Hotel is in a beautiful location right on the Lake. Rooms are spacious but dated. The young restaurant staff work very hard but seem understaffed. We were part of a Titan group. The breakfast was good but evening meals ranged from acceptable to poor and certainly not the standard expected of a 4 star hotel. There was a problem with my patio door but it was still not fixed when I left a week later.
