Park Hotel Terme

As many wrote before me: the place has seen better days ! Not only the horrible mix of "styles" shows the hotel doesn't know where to go to ...........all has this shade of old, of not completely clean........ 4 Stars ? I don't know how many were on the sky when they counted them ? I'd say maximum 2 to be generous......the word "park" seems rather to come from many parked non used items inside and outside .....at least or bathroom was redone and fine, we've seen others .........all together : many things reminded me of a recover-hospital....the elevators , when functioning , force you to meditate like Ze-Buddhist waiting for them.......

At first, we were unpleasantly surprised by old furniture, old gas heating system, old bathroom and it was cold in the room. We got additional blankets but it didn’t help. However, we were nicely surprised by the hotel’s understanding to our complaints. We got three keys and could choose our room ourselves. We chose a room with the view on the street, which was much warmer as the sun stayed on that side till the late evenings. The room was also better furnished with nicer bathroom. Breakfast was plain with limited choices, but the dinner compensated it all. The meals were delicious and big enough. The hotel is pet friendly, they even don’t ask for any charges for pets. The swimming pool was big and nice with a generous whirlpool and with the outside transition. There is a own thermal source, so they can adjust the pool’s temperature The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is old-fashioned but pleasant. Overall, we were satisfied and would truly recommend it.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and had a great time except for a chaotic first evening which was more than cancelled out by the friendly service over the rest of our stay. The hotel does need some freshening up although everything in our room worked (have had so called 4 star places with broken TVs) and most of the hotels in Abano need their swimming pools for eg retiling. Mineral water does have a destructive effect. Breakfast was quite copious by Italian standards, with eggs, ham, cheese, cake and biscuits, lots iof fresh fruit and fruit salad. Only the juice is awful, which seems to be standard in Italy, which is a mystery as there is so much fruit avavilable..... Warning: Dinner is served practically in one stitting from trolleys so do not be late. This is not an a la carte sort of place. On the other hand, if you like a dish, they are usually happy to give seconds, so you win some and you lose some... We had booked half board and the staff were quite happy to switch meals around so we could have lunch and then go on to Verona in the evening, for eg,..Very flexible. They also have a gala evening like all hotels in the area, which is a very refined sort of do, unlike the hotel opposite blasting away into the small hours. My partner had some massages and was happy with them.Also saw some Italians (in August!!) having mud baths which is heaven in cooler months, so would suggest you try it if you have never had one. All in all a very pleasant stay and would happily return. ps Free wifi.
