This hotel is so close to being something great, but I think just misses the mark. I want to start by saying overall we really enjoyed our stay and the most important thing is - we would happily return. We picked up a last minute deal for £430 each incl. flights and transfers through Tui so the fact it was so cheap for us made it easy to overlook the few negatives we experienced. We'll certainly be looking out for similar deals next year. The good things: - Apartments are really nice and spacious. - All kitchen appliances worked well. - Nice comfy bed and sofa. - The pool whilst on the smaller side is one of our favourite pools we've been in - a lovely water feature on the one side. - Great having a terrace area with your own sun beds - no sun bed wars. - The fishing village 5 min walk away is lovely and quaint - so many 10/10 restaurants nearby. - The beach a 2 min walk away is stunning (though a little windy and wild!) - Our room had plumbing issues but the hotel's maintenance team sorted this out within a few hours so we were happy with their response. Things to improve on: - The immediate local area is a construction zone which they are transparent about on their website. The noise is at a minimum and didn't really disturb us, however you do have to overlook the sight of the place when walking to the village or beach. - Our room had an ant problem. We reported this on day one and unfortunately nothing was done. There wasn't loads of them, but it wasn't particularly pleasant. - The cleaners are supposed to clean the room every other day, however our cleaner cleaned the room on day 2 and then every other day just knocked on the door with fresh towels but never came in to clean. This also meant we had to take our own rubbish out to the bins outside the resort site. - The first receptionist was a little disinterested and didn’t apologise when we reported plumbing issues and ants, though the friendly maintenance man did. On our last day, a different receptionist kindly offered a late checkout as a goodwill gesture so that somewhat improved our thoughts on the staff. - The air con was not good. We didn't report this as we could manage and as said, we'd found the receptionist a little nonchalant with our initial issues. With all that said, we'd genuinely be very interested to return and very much look forward to seeing what the area will look like once all construction has finished.

Stayed here for three weeks. Really lovely apartments in a beautiful place, El Cotillo is so nice, an old fishing village, like stepping back in time. The apartment was on the ground floor, it was equipped with mostly everything you needed, spotlessly clean, cleaners coming every other day, clean towels and bedding changed often. There is a dishwasher a two ring hob and a microwave, so can do some cooking but would have preferred an oven to a dishwasher personally as we don't eat out every night for three weeks. The pool area was lovely and a nice pool, no sunbed wars. The construction that was going on was really noisy from our room but didn't start till 9 am and finished by 6pm. It didn't bother us too much as we go to the beach most days. The staff were lovely especially the cleaners who went out of their way to help us. The restaurants and cafes are not too far away, our favourite was Nanas about a 12min walk away, and the Spar 10 mins. I would come back in the future.

A little slice of heaven. This small complex offered everything we wanted and more. Beautiful apartment, clean, great amenities, amazing swimming pool and beautifully clean. The staff are a credit to the establishment. Bars, restaurants and supermarkets, all within a 2-3 minute walk. Can’t wait to come back. Downside: major construction work right next door; ground work was being done, extremely noisy and started 9:15 in the morning, fortunately we only had that our last two days. Looking forward to seeing Esmardla towards the end of the year. Love, love, love ❤️

Simply brilliant. Location is a stones throw from the beach. The apartment (ground floor) was perfect and an excellent size. The cleaning was out of this world. It was spotless. The gym huge and well equipped. The best thing is the staff. They can not do enough for you. Fridge broke (door alarm on all night) reported it the morning. It was instantly dealt with. Can not comment on the up stairs rooms. But what we experience was perfect. Indeed we have booked (easyjet) to go again on the 18th of July, as a retirement gift to ourselves.

Sorry for such a long review but Esmeralda Apartments totally deserve it! Was somewhat wary about the digital check in as we arrived after reception had closed. However we were sent the door codes via text message and we gained entry easily. We did get keycards once we entered the room. There is a plan of the apartments on entry and they are split into A B C D blocks. We located our room easily and even though it was getting dark, there was plenty of outdoor lighting. The actual apartment was exactly as the photos showed. It was immaculately clean like we were the first people ever in it. It was pristine. We had the apartment with the rooftop solarium so I can only comment on this apartment type but it was just utterly stunning. The morning after we arrived we were asked to show the manager our passports and give our details. He was great, very helpful. We did not use the pool but it was cleaned every morning, and had a lifeguard on duty for most of the day. The pool was open 9-6pm. If we had children with us it would have felt very safe as the whole pool was surrounded by glass panels with gates to get in and out that a small child couldn't operate. There is a waterfall at one end of the pool and we liked that it had a ramp down to it so people in wheelchairs or mobility issues could go down it as opposed to using steps. The apartment had perfect WiFi and the Tv had Netflix and YouTube built in so we logged into our own accounts. There were several usb sockets in the lounge and bedroom. The cleaners came in every other day to change towels and make the beds. Unfortunately as the apartments were fully booked, we couldn't get a late check out room as our coach wasn't until 6pm and we had to vacate the room at 12pm. The lovely manager gave us a different key card and said we could leave our suitcase and use the shower facilities even though we had checked out. He took us downstairs where I had never ventured before (I thought it was just a gym and car park!) there were workspace rooms, meeting rooms, kids rooms, teen room, launderette and a games room with ping pong and table football. The gym looked well equipped (if you like gyms!) In the changing rooms were two individual showers and a toilet and a changing room all in one big room. All of this was also immaculate. To sum it up, we already want to go back! It was quiet, calm, serene and our rooftop was very private. We were wary of booking the apartment due to the mention of the building works going on however this really wasn't as bad as we expected! We were in the B apartments so further away from the actual work. Walking past the building works was somewhat noisy but certainly not unbearable. My husband is in construction and says the loud jack hammer noises will be over soon as they have gone as far as they possibly can. If you want a chilled out holiday, this is definitely the place to go! I think we were there before the season got going as there wasn't as many places open as I'd expected after checking Google maps! However don't let this put you off!
