SECRETS LANZAROTE RESORT

Fantastic few days at this hotel, read the reviews before I went, decided to up grade to the preferred club which was an excellent decision. My room (deluxe double sea view) had a separate lounge area, 2 double beds, massive bathroom. Couldn’t have been happier, felt very spoilt. The pool area was lovely, didn’t have a problem getting drinks service, in fact the staff were amazing throughout the hotel. Very polite and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Great choice of food, drinks, bars and the bonus of a private lounge for drinks and snacks whenever you wanted. The Spa is gorgeous and again the girls working there very polite and welcoming. I will definitely be going back but will hire a car next time because the roads are great and I would like to see more of the Island.

Poor I felt like a second class guest, as the 'preferred' guest facilities are brandished excluding others. Housekeeping entered my room whilst I was not dressed, despite me not answering the door leaving me feeling extremely vulnerable Food overpriced

We had another great stay at Secrets. Excellent welcome on arrival, it was like returning home. Staff are lovely, food and drink were great. This was our second stay, we love the cats that are friendly but also like their own space, it's always lovely to give them a fuss. Our room was in a great location and we were well looked after. We used the spa when the weather was bad and loved every minute. Look forward to staying again !

This hotel is not as good as it thinks it is. The review may be influenced by the appalling weather we had for the week. Nice quiet location but not many nice restaurants in the Marina if you want to eat outside. Limited restaurant choice in the hotel itself. Food was ok although nothing special. Buffet breakfast was good Heloful staff at reception desk. Generally clean but dead cockroaches left in corridors, which was a bit worrying. Preferred room which was big, with large bathroom area but the most uncomfortable "easy" chairs imaginable. Seemed a bit tired around the edges. Definitely not 5*

The staff are the star of the show here. I hope they get paid fairly because they deliver great service. My first impression was incredible as the staff in reception were very kind, helpful and accomodating. Lady from Madrid who did my check in was lovely as well as Lia who took ke to my room. They were both phenomenal. The facilities are generally good, the outdoor pools are very beautiful and I found my room to be very nice, although I think the rooms should come with a clothing iron as well. However, I feel like for the price I paid there were some things lacking. First, I think the food was mostly disappointing. My booking was for breakfast only which in hind sight was a good decision. On one of the days I had lunch in the Barefoot Grill restaurant in which I paid €18 for breaded chicken and fries. I couldnt finish the chicken and left thinking Ive had better meals in McDonalds. Also had a cocktail at the piano bar which was too sweet. The breakfast was okay, but i dont think it lives to the standard of a 5 star hotel. I had the dinner buffet the first day and regreted as I feel like I could have had a much tastier meal in the marina for the same price or less. Also, for such a big hotel there should be a snack bar option with more variety of salads and sandwiches to have for lunch by the pool. Secondly, first thing i did on my arrival was head to the spa reception to book a treatment. It was disappointing to arrive at the spa and learn that there were no slots left for treatments for the duration of my stay. I especially booked a hotel with a spa to treat myself, however, you can only book in treatments at the spa reception (no option to book before) which didnt allow me to have the ability to book in advance to make sure i had a spot. The weather throughout most of my stay was rubish so I really didnt get to use the outside pool which I was looking foward the most (and obviously this is no ones fault), however I specifically booked a hotel with a spa in the event of bad weather and dont feel like I was able to make the most out of it. The sauna and indoor pool were good tho. Overall, id say its a beautiful hotel but doesnt match the high price point.
