This was our 5th stay at Secrets Lanzarote. We continue to return and will again as the hotel, staff and overall experience delivers on what we are looking for - to chill! We have always gone as part of the preferred club/all inclusive and the food options across all the restaurants has always been top notch. Similarly the drinks choices included in the all inclusive is great. The staff have always been extremely friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are clean, well stocked and generous in size. We have never had an issue with getting a sun lounger and with 3 pools there are plenty of options. The Spa on site is one of the best we have been to. The treatments are amazing and easily the best we have had anywhere. I can’t speak for the location, other than it’s a cheap (£20) taxi ride from the airport, quiet and has lovely views over the sea!

Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel and location with fantastic views from the bedrooms. We especially enjoyed the Preferred Club, with a lovely pool area plus great breakfast and lunch locations serving excellent food. Areas for improvement would be that some parts of the hotel are starting to look a little worn, particularly around the Preferred Club pool area. It also felt like certain areas were understaffed. The pool drink service could definitely be improved, but this seemed more down to staffing levels. One or two staff members covering the whole pool area simply isn’t enough. The other pools were also very cold, so we were glad to have access to the Preferred Club pool instead, although even that could have been warmer. The evening entertainment was okay, but it did feel a little dated at times. It may be worth rethinking both the location and style of entertainment offered at the hotel. Overall, we loved the hotel and would absolutely consider returning in the future if these smaller improvements were made.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel but the first since it has been part of the Hyatt group. The hotel looks nice as you first arrive at reception and the staff give you a very warm welcome but unfortunately the good impressions really do stop there. The main issue for us was that the Barefoot Grill was closed for refurbishment throughout our stay; something that we were not made aware of when we booked or during the lengthy orientation speech at check in. Aside from the noise of the works when sitting around the pool during the day, this also meant that there was nowhere to eat lunch at the hotel except for the buffet restaurant (or Cafe Coco if you only wanted cake). If we’d wanted buffet food for lunch everyday, we would’ve booked on the half board basis. I enquired with Guest Services about alternatives and their solution to this issue (caused by their own refurbishment work) was that we pay 120 euros per night to upgrade to the Preferred Club “services”. Note this is for the services, not the room, so all it meant was that we could access a different pool and the Lounge restaurant for lunch. So, for 1200 euros over a 10 night stay, it didn’t even get us a room upgrade. I have never been asked to pay extra to use a restaurant at a hotel where I am already a guest due to refurbishment works closing the alternative facility. The hotel is also incredibly run down in some areas. Throughout our stay there was a leak with a bucket under it in the corridor on our route to breakfast as well as evidence of past leaks that had not been redecorated. The same route was also littered with 7-8 dead cockroaches for around 3 days until we reported it to reception. They did remove them immediately, which was appreciated, but we would expect someone from housekeeping to have noticed this before we did, especially as this is supposedly rated as a 5 star hotel. Four more dead cockroaches appeared a couple of days later which were never dealt with. When we arrived, our double room initially had two beds pushed together and they were made up as individual beds with separate sheets so we had to request for this to be changed to a double. The staff were very obliging but we felt these were things that are not expected at a supposedly 5 star resort. On a positive note, breakfast was good, although quite repetitive, and the staff were really nice and polite. Our room was also kept very clean. My advice? If you’re coming here with expectations of a 5 star hotel then lower them to 3 star and you should be satisfied. Would we visit again? Based on this stay, unfortunately not.
