A beautiful island and we had a wonderful holiday but there is room for improvement. The positives first, the food was absolutely amazing, always plenty of choice, freshly cooked and top quality. We stayed 4 nights in the exclusive reef overwater villa, which was amazing and then upgraded for 10 nights to the one bedroom Funamadua overwater villa, which was out of this world, pure luxury and made the holiday a once in a lifetime special experience. Both villas were beautiful, spacious, clean and extremely private. The snorkelling, again, out of this world, we have probably been spoilt for life. The weather was great, very hot, we got through 5 bottles of factor 30 in a week so take plenty as it is $35 a bottle in the island shop. Some minor negatives, one downside for us was not being able to walk around the entire island on the beach, I don't know if it is due to erosion but you get to a point you have to turn back. The island has sand bags most of the way round. Outside of the set meal times, there is no-where to get snacks and the room mini bar is not included. Both villas we stayed in had a dressing table area, but no mirror, which is really odd, and the magnifying mirror in the bathroom is set for a 6ft tall person. We knew we were going to have a long journey, from leaving home to getting to the island was 26 hours, we had a 4 hour wait at Male for the domestic flight. On arrival on the island we went straight to dinner, when we got to the room, our suitcases were not there, we had to ring reception twice who kept telling us they were outside our room (they were not) at this point it had been almost 30 hours since we'd left home and we just wanted to shower and sleep and were really not impressed to have to wait for our cases. The trip home was a lot smoother with no wait at Male. The staff were always really friendly and attentive, but we found on the last 3-4 days we struggled to get drinks served at our table at mealtimes, we'd almost be finished and would still be trying to get a waiters attention for drinks. We wondered if this was because we had not tipped as we went along, we planned to tip on our last day, some other guests seemed to tip daily. This doesn't sit well with us as we don't want to be carrying money around with us every day. If you're British and sociable, this may not be the place for you, the guests are mainly German, this was not an issue for us as we keep ourselves to ourselves on holiday. Lastly, we found the entertainment a bit lacking, it is mostly staff from all departments dancing and miming. A couple of times there was a singer come in which was good. Despite these minor niggles we really did have a lovely holiday and miss the sunshine and the sound of the sea desperately!
It is my first time on Funamadua and I am flashed and more than thankful to be here. On this Island everything is as is should for your once-in-a-lifetime-holiday. Fantastic white sand, amazing corals and so much different fishes, meals which never leave an open wish. But it would all be nothing without the best service. Everyone is kind and friendly and fulfills your wishes even if you haven't told them. Udara, for example, is such a nice guy, who just let you smile at every meeting. He is highly engaged to make you happy with his drinks and everything you also wish. We are happy to have met him here. For us he (and many others from the diving team or the sports team) is one of the key factors the have an awesome time here.
An excellent resort, very friendly and professional staff. We had a superior beach bungalow, directly on the beach opposite a reef entry point, about 10 metres out and another ten metres to the reef edge. Provided fantastic snorkeling, gear provided free of charge. The rest of the island, whilst small, has everything you could wish for, including white sand and turquoise waters. The room was spacious and well equipped, with safe and hair drier amongst other items. The bathroom was fab, with an indoor and outdoor shower and twin basins. Toiletries were "Rituals" and very nice. The resort is very German with few Brits, to be expected as Robinsons/TUI is German. A small gripe from my point of view is the new over reef/sea villas. All the architectural excellence of a set of self storage container units, not good!!! Food was of a high standard with plenty of choice, freshly prepared dishes and various cuisines. Drinks were equally varied and good. A few improvements could be: Alcohol in the mini bar to be included in the all inclusive price A separate bar for those wanting a peaceful evening without entertainment A separate area for smokers, particularly in the restaurant area Overall an excellent stay in a fabulous resort. Thank you Robinsons.
The space, comfort, and quality at Robinson Club Maldives are absolutely top-notch. You feel at home right from the start and can enjoy your vacation to the fullest from the first minute to the last. The evening offerings are perfectly tailored to guests, and the service provided by the team is exactly what you would expect from a dream vacation. The food is an additional highlight and satisfies all needs perfectly. More than seven live cooking stations surpass anything we have experienced before. A gourmet experience with every course. This is exactly the right island to choose for a great vacation. Robinson Maldives is the ideal destination for a fantastic vacation.
We stayed at ROBINSON Maldives for our honeymoon and overall had a wonderful experience. The resort itself is absolutely stunning and truly feels like paradise. While this was the most expensive trip we’ve ever taken, it felt worth it for a once in a lifetime honeymoon experience. Pros: One fun and meaningful detail for us is that my husband’s last name (and now mine) is Robinson, so when we came across this resort during our honeymoon search, it felt like fate. And it really did live up to the name. This is easily the most scenic and beautiful resort we’ve ever stayed at. Our water villa was incredible, especially having a private pool and direct access to the ocean from the ladder at the back. Waking up to those views every morning never got old. We booked the Couple’s Romantic Retreat at the spa and it was an amazing, relaxing experience. Highly recommend it for honeymooners or anyone celebrating something special. The buffet was outstanding. The food was always fresh, delicious, and varied daily. We genuinely looked forward to every meal. The staff were wonderful across the resort. Everyone was friendly, warm, and very accommodating. The island itself is beautiful to walk around. It takes about 20 minutes to walk the full perimeter, with clear water, clean sand, and well maintained paths. Free snorkeling gear was a great bonus and made it easy to explore the reef whenever we wanted. We also did the starlight lobster dinner on the beach on our last night, which was such a special experience. The food was excellent and dining under the stars on the beach was unforgettable. Everything across the resort felt very clean and well maintained, from our water villa to the common areas and restaurants. Cons: Service at the buffet could sometimes be slow when it came to water. We often waited longer than expected for drinks to be brought to the table. We were noticeably younger than most of the other guests. While this wasn’t an issue at all, we did feel a bit out of place socially at times, as other guests didn’t really interact with us and we received a lot of stares. The room service menu is fairly limited and not nearly as good as the buffet or the paid dining options. The domestic flight transfer process was the most stressful part of the trip. We were told we would receive details two days in advance, but didn’t hear anything until we reached out ourselves while already traveling. Once we finally received our domestic flight time, we then had to wait another six hours at the airport. After traveling all the way from Canada, this part was quite exhausting and confusing. Overall: Despite a few logistical hiccups, our honeymoon at ROBINSON Maldives was truly special. The beauty of the resort, the villas, the food, and the overall atmosphere made it a very memorable experience. The resort is very peaceful and quiet overall, which made it easy to fully relax and enjoy the experience. We would absolutely recommend this resort to couples looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway in an incredibly beautiful setting.
