Just come back from the Behotel in St Julian’s, Malta. The hotel is unusual as you have to enter it through a modern shopping centre on a busy street. The different parts of the hotel (dining room, indoor pool, amusement arcade etc) share their floors with more shops and restaurants. So you are in amongst KFC, Accessorise, Rainforest Cafe, Adidas and many other outlets. Great for shopping if you like that! Despite this location, the hotel was peaceful, clean, and brightly clean. Rooms were spotless and comfortable ( we stayed in a Superior Room) but we had no decent view from our balcony because we didn’t pay extra for it. Best part of the hotel apart from the lovely room was the rooftop pool with its amazing views all around. The water was warm enough to swim in comfortably as it was quite shallow so warmed up well in the sun. Around the pool the bar and food service was excellent, very friendly staff and prices reasonable . We didn’t ever eat at the pool but the food looked great going past. One single downside- there was very little shade round the pool. Another plus point was the excellent breakfast, with freshly squeezed orange juice and proper cappuccino made in front of you by the staff. Full English breakfast and fresh fruit salad was my choice but there were pastries, ham, cheese , yoghurt -all sorts. Breakfast was a treat. In all, a really comfortable, modern well run hotel. As for St Julian's, being a boring oldie I felt it was a bit too brash for my liking, with lots of bars, clubs, fast food and thousands of youngsters all milling about. But if you like that sort of place, the Behotel is really well placed and in the midst of everything.

A lovely stay at the Be.hotel. The staff could not do enough, breakfast was delicious with a good choice. Our room had everything required, even a little dining table and a large comfy chair. The bathroom was modern and clean. A chocolate was left on our pillow each evening. Both pools are lovely, we were able to swim comfortably in the outdoor pool in March! The hotel itself is set inside a shopping centre and is split between two sides. Reception on one side, the pools and restaurant on the other side. It's easy to navigate once you first figure it out. Outside the hotel can only be described as party central. For a 5 day stay this was ok for the exciting buzz around, although for a longer stay this may put you off (unless you were going for the nightlife, which looked great fun if that's your thing). Highly recommend Alem Turkish restaurant which is just up the strip and turn right. Delicious food and reasonably priced. Out and about there were plenty of beach areas to explore, both on foot and buses, which were cheap. Although like other reviews, getting a seat is a bit hit and miss. We went to Gozo, bus to ferry terminal took around 45mins, but was nice to see the different landscapes along the journey. The ferry itself was about £5 return. We explored the local areas on foot once there, which were nice and quaint, a bus would be required to go further afield. Valleta was worth a visit, as was Mdina. Overall we had a fantastic stay at Be.hotel and would come back in a heartbeat for the right price.

The hotel is ok. The room was not ready until 3pm on arrival after a night flight. No issues with the staff but I asked for a room change that wasn’t fulfilled. Our view from the 6th floor was of boarded up windows of a neighbouring hotel, and the double glazing didn’t work and it sounded like the windows were open. The loud music from the local bars and clubs goes on until 4am and its location was not for us. The hotel does not have enough facilities for guests. Breakfast was busy and very basic. the Indoor pool is small and the rooftop pool always busy. The hotel is located in the middle of a shopping centre and you need to go out of the hotel into the shopping centre to access lifts to the restaurant and pool areas. There is a lot of building work going on in St. Julian’s bay, which is not very aesthetically appealing, This is NOT a family location due to the amount of nightlife in the area and fighting we could hear at night. If I visit again I would consider staying in Sliema instead. I really can’t understand why the reviews are so good for this hotel. My advice is unless you’re going out clubbing choose somewhere else.
