Mercure St. Julian´s Malta

Stayed 2 weeks end Sept/early October. Great experience right from arrival. The reception staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Early flight so had to wait about an hour for room to be ready so went to the rooftop bar for a drink. Text sent to say our room was ready and luggage was waiting there. Lovely room and spacious bathroom. Cleaned daily. Although quite small, rooftop pool and bar was more than adequate with amazing views. Breakfast was varied (continental and full english) with plenty of choice. Although we had a balcony, the 4th floor was a bit restricted on the view. After a couple of days, my husband asked if it was possible to be moved to a higher floor as it was our silver wedding anniversary and he wanted the best experience for me (bless him). They happily arranged this the next day. We were able to leave all our clothes on hangers and, when we returned after our outing, everything had been moved for us. In addition, there was a lovely handwritten card and a bottle of wine for us. Hotel was well situated and literally just a few steps away from the bus stop and all the local amenities. We did travel around quite a bit on the island and both agreed that St Julian was the right choice for us. Overall, a really good trip which was massively enhanced by the positive helpful attitude of all the staff, particularly those on reception who always acknowledged us on a daily basis, even when we were just passing through. Breakfast let's the hotel down, big style. Orange juice like water, you have to set your own table. Bread, donuts, croissants all stale. Fruit was tinned, fresh fruit was almost rotten (bananas/kiwi fruit). No live cooking so no omelettes. Fried eggs like rubber. All hot items were not appetising. Coffee undrinkable. Cannot understand positive reviews. In basement, no windows, like sitting in a submarine, horrible experience. 4* hotel, yes. But breakfast is 1* at best. Good location for hotel, up a small side street but the street hasn't seen a road sweeper in years. Nice pool, nice staff, nice room on 7th floor. We have stayed in many 3/4/5 * hotels and I honestly can say breakfast is the worst we have ever come across. Would not return.

VERY friendly helpful staff. Request high floor in a quiet area. Room is basic but done well -Im picky and was very pleased - The kettle, coffee maker, safe and fridge come in handy. Visit the rooftop for a swim, food & FABULOUS evening views! Perfect location for a base, there is so much to see and do in Malta. Hire a driver to see the country a great value and convenience (hotel can help) Then take a Bolt to the places you want to return to. I suggest a seafood lunch in Marsaxlok (12-3pm) . followed by a walk through Valletta. Travel to Mdina Old City for a drive through or a day stop. The hotel staff can help with suggestions . PACK the PROPER adapters for Malta Restaurants and grocery nearby. Great experience - Thank you Mercure St. Julian!

This hotel went way above my expectations! We have just returned from a four night.. 5 day stay in St. Julian’s and everything was absolutely perfect! Check in was very straightforward. The receptionist was really welcoming, friendly also very informative. The hotel is so clean and spacious and our room was spotless with a great shower and lovely comfortable bed! The views from our balcony were gorgeous too. The rooftop pool is lovely to relax at with stunning views and the food here was great and very tasty! This hotel is very central to shops, restaurants, bars and lots of nightlife (if that’s your thing) The bus stop is very close and we enjoyed a journey to Valletta in the evening (once it cooled down a bit) and to Mellieha to spend the day on a beautiful sandy beach and had dinner there.. I will definitely return to The Mercure .. The property is lovely and so are all of their staff ..

There are many positives to share about the staff. First and foremost, they are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you and always want to make sure that you are 100% happy with everything. We stayed in a suite and this was a bit more money but the pressing service and minibar top up on soft drinks was a bonus. A special shout out must go to Carolina from Customer Services. If Carolona isn't a general manager soon, I would be shocked. Such a Customer focused person and extremely helpful, she is what Customer service is all about. Onto the local area. Bring good footwear, the pavements are very slippy and St Julians is a very busy and noisy area, but thankfully the rooftop bars etc go quiet after 11pm.
