Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa

Overall, we had a good stay at Hilton Mauritius. The property itself is beautiful — spacious rooms, great architecture, well-maintained grounds, and good food. The location and overall resort vibe make for a very relaxing family vacation. That said, there were a few guest experience gaps that were surprising for a luxury resort. One policy felt particularly odd — despite paying for the dining experience, even basic table water during dinner was chargeable. Not premium bottled water or packaged consumption, but basic hydration during a meal. It felt less like hospitality and more like monetising a necessity, especially while dining with family and kids. The kids activity centre also felt largely inactive during our stay. Activities rarely ran as per schedule and the space lacked enough engagement or amenities for children. There were also a few operational misses — for example, it took more than 30 minutes and multiple follow-ups for a luggage trolley to arrive during checkout. None of these individually ruined the experience, but together they created some inconsistency in the overall guest experience expected from a Hilton property. Still, the stay in general was enjoyable and relaxing. I also shared detailed feedback addressed to the GM — hopefully it reaches the right leadership team and helps improve the experience further.

This is a beautiful property and in fact this is our second time at the resort. However this time I had forgotten a thick silver band in the sink area of the bathroom in our room when we left for our day excursion. I had realised on leaving itself that I had forgotten my ring however being a good hotel I thought no one would bother taking a silver ring. On coming back in the evening I discovered the ring gone! We searched all over the room before contacting the housekeeping. We spoke with hotel manager and housekeeping management. However all they kept saying is they will investigate. This was literally a day prior to our check out and there was no resolution or solution till the time we actually checked out the next day. The only people who had been to our room between the time the ring went missing was housekeeping to clean the room. I mean how long can an investigation take? Every hotel has a hotel log on who cleans what room! How difficult can it be to catch the person? The hotel has a picture also of what the ring looks like! Extremely disappointed by the management.

Had the most amazing experience at Hilton Mauritius! The hospitality, the location, the service, everything is a class apart! The hotel had the kindest, warm and most welcoming people that I have come across in a while. I am primarily vegetarian and was concerned about the food options but once I let the chefs know, everyone went out of their way to ensure that I went back with a full heart and tummy every night. Chef Catherine made sure that I was spoilt for choice every night. She personally checked on me at each meal and is the kindest soul ever. Will always remember the creamy mushrooms she whipped up for us and her happy demeanour, true gem of a person! She let me know about all the dinner options in advance every night. Her Tex Mex spread on my last night was wonderful (even though I am veg and couldn't eat the meat options). Ngl, the BBQ chicken looked appealing even to me. I also remember her doing an Indian section too every night so that I was never out of options. Her signature line "if you're happy, I am happy" reflects her ethos and her love for her work. It will stay with me for a long time ❤ Chef Raksha made sure that I gained a couple of pounds on this vacay as her dessert game is on point! My husband mentioned wanting a blueberry cheesecake in passing and lo & behold, she ensured that there was some waiting for us the next day. Her dessert recommendations were on point. Will never forget the bounty she made for us at dinner one night. My husband has discovered a love for choux now! Also spl thanks to her team (couldn't get their names alas, a trainee chef from Kolkata and this one miss on the ice cream counter on 9th May dinner who made sure that I didn't miss a single dessert) All the servers at the restaurants are the kindest too, so patient and ever ready to help and get you thr best. Miss Ruth brightened up our day every morning with her smile and happy demeanour! She was my caffeine supplier💖 made sure I had all the energy to make most of my time here. Miss Maya was amazing too! Special thanks to all the waitstaff at all the restaurants I visited. Amazing hospitality each one of you. My experience at Hilton was amazing from the start, beginning with the warm welcome by Hoonesh. The entertainment at the hotel is quite varied and there's something new everyday! The fire eater show is something one cannot miss. Also the countless singers I heard while dining and looking out into the horizon ✨ They have a lot of activities at the hotel like biking, aqua gym, water polo, beach volleyball etc. I enjoyed the aqua gym too! Rishi, Eric & Vinesh are a great team. Good energy all 3 of them All in all, can't wait to visit again!

Fabtastic resort with very friendly and helpful staff ...great weather in May

I’m a Hilton diamond member I just spent 6 nights at this hotel. To me the most important thing about a hotel is its staff. The staff as a whole were at best average. Notwithstanding a few notable exceptions (Danial Bertrand - manager of the buffet restaurant and the Head water whose name escapes me, and the gentlemen at the front desk of the gym/spa - all three were examples of what i would have expected from all the staff) rather the majority of staff didn’t smile, didn’t engage and weren’t terribly helpful. Every time we walked by, concierge was always looking down, not smiling, no engagement. One would expect concierge or someone at the hotel to inquire, what brings you to Mauritius? Can we help you organize something? Room cleaning services were only once a day, I asked for the items in the minibar to be removed - they never were, dirty glasses were not replaced with clean ones and we had no stirring spoons for the last 2 days. I asked front desk for a late check out, the next day i got a call to vacate the room at noon - when i stated i had requested the late check, i was asked if I confirmed - to which i responded - that’s not my responsibility - in the end i got the late check out but thats not the point. As for the rest of the trip - while i was upgraded, i had asked for a higher level room - i was given the lowest. The room itself was clean and well maintained but the hallway in the basement leading to it could have been out of a horror movie - its aging was showing. The majority of the hotel was clean and well maintained. The gym was okay - i would expect more for a resort of this size. Then theres the food, whether at the buffet or the a la carte restaurants - the meat - be it fish, chicken or beef was universally over cooked, difficult to chew and generally devoid of flavour. I don’t expect Michelin level food at a hotel but this fell well below the expectation of a university dorm. Summarizing, was this a horrible stay? No. Nothing catastrophic, but i’ve come to expect a certain standard from the hilton brand, especially as a diamond member, this hotel misses that mark. The corporate culture of an organization is determined by leadership , i think management at this hotel needs to take a good look in the mirror. If I come back to Mauritius, I would not stay at this hotel, there is another Hilton on the island that I would try despite being rated lower online.
