From the moment we arrived at Paradise Cove after a long 24-hour journey from London (including two connections and a 1.5-hour transfer across the island), we knew this place was going to be special.
We stayed from the 5th to the 13th of February — typically part of Mauritius’ rainy season, and with cyclone warnings the week before and during our stay — yet somehow we were incredibly fortunate to experience nothing but glorious weather throughout. It genuinely felt like a blessing and made the entire experience even more special.
Despite arriving well before check-in, the process was seamless. We were welcomed with refreshing drinks and offered a private lounge cabin to shower, change, and reset — a small but incredibly thoughtful touch after such a long journey. That first impression set the tone for everything that followed.
The resort itself strikes a rare balance — intimate and peaceful, yet spacious enough that even at full capacity it never once felt crowded, noisy, or overwhelming. It’s an adults-only setting with a calm, elegant atmosphere — more refined and restorative than lively — which suited us perfectly for a relaxing anniversary trip.
Our premium double room was beautifully finished, spacious, and exceptionally well thought out. The bathroom (with double shower and large bath) felt luxurious, and the overall layout meant we never once felt the need to upgrade — which is rare for us.
Dining across the resort was consistently outstanding. The Peninsula restaurant in particular was a highlight — both for its stunning setting and the quality of food, which at times genuinely felt Michelin-level. Standout dishes included the grilled octopus, short rib, and lamb. Breakfast each morning was fresh, varied, and thoughtfully curated, and the Japanese restaurant was equally impressive.
What truly elevates Paradise Cove, however, is the service.
Every single team — reception, restaurants, bars, spa, grounds, and activities — operated with warmth, precision, and genuine care. It never felt forced or transactional; instead, the entire resort feels like one cohesive, welcoming family.
One moment that perfectly captures this was when my wife fell ill mid-stay. A staff member named Yodish went completely above and beyond — after casually hearing she wasn’t feeling well, he personally prepared a herbal tea and brought it to us by the pool. Within half an hour, she felt noticeably better. It was such a small act on paper, but the level of attentiveness and kindness behind it was exceptional.
There were many other moments like this — from freshly picked tulsi leaves brought to us after dinner for tea in our room, to consistently impeccable service at both the Peninsula and Stay bars.
The spa deserves special mention — it feels like stepping into a hidden rainforest sanctuary, and our Valentine’s experience there was unforgettable. The private beach, sunset views at the Peninsula, and the overall atmosphere throughout the resort all contribute to something genuinely special.
We also made use of some of the activities on offer — bocce ball (surprisingly addictive), an archery session that was relaxed yet playfully competitive, and even found ourselves caught in a brief tropical rain shower which ended up being a fun, memorable moment in itself. What stood out, though, was how much there still is to experience. We didn’t get the chance to explore the boat house, water excursions, tennis courts, or day trips, but having those options readily available gives you a real sense that a return trip would offer something entirely new. Even the public beach just outside the resort — which we walked along a couple of times — added an authentic local charm alongside the resort’s more private luxury feel.
A defining highlight of our stay was our anniversary evening. The team helped organise their signature “You & Me” private beach dinner — a candlelit, multi-course (six-course) experience with genuinely Michelin-level food, tailored drinks, and a beautifully hand-picked bouquet of flowers. As we don’t drink alcohol, they thoughtfully provided non-alcoholic champagne so we could still celebrate the moment fully. I was able to re-propose and renew our vows in a setting that honestly could not have been more perfect. The staff handled everything — from setup to capturing photos and videos — with complete discretion and care, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and privacy.
Even on departure, the experience didn’t drop. Although we checked out earlier in the day, the hotel extended our full access to all facilities, food, and drinks until we left in the evening — effectively giving us an extra day, which is something you rarely see.
If I’m being completely honest, it’s difficult to find any real faults. The transfer from the airport is long, but that’s simply geography rather than anything within the hotel’s control.
We’ve travelled extensively — across the US, Caribbean, Mexico, and Asia — and this stands out as the best trip we’ve ever taken. It took us nearly a month after returning home to properly process the experience and sit down to write this, and even now it feels difficult to fully capture just how special it was. For couples looking for a peaceful, high-end, and genuinely heartfelt experience, Paradise Cove is about as close to perfect as it gets — and we will absolutely be returning.
