Wonders Beach Boutique Hotel

We live here in Mauritius, I booked an evening package for Valentine's Day. It was good value considering the hotel rack rate is North of 300 Euro. There are four parking spaces out front and we were lucky to get one. Greeted by name, given a cursory description of how the deal would work. Found the bar, sat down and drank some wine. Nice outlook, calm and serene vibe. Small pool, limited beach. About 50 covers in the restaurant. A local man played guitar and tried hard to sing. Dinner started at 7pm. By 7.01 all the good tables with the sea view went, nonetheless we got one with a Western outlook to the sunset, which is obscured by a large tree on the beach unfortunately. This is where it all starts to go Pete Tong.. So our package includes unlimited drinks (which is fine, and the wine is pretty good). And dinner. But looking at the menu most all of it has a price. We summoned a waiter to explain, who says we can have a salad, or one of four starters, plus any main course which doesn't have a star against it. That leaves us a choice of two things. My menu had two main course pages in it and the starter page missing, so once that's sorted I choose squid and chicken. Mrs T chooses fish gluons and fish. The starters are straight out of the freezer, aren't heated through and / or served tardily. Mrs. T can't tell whether hers was fish or chicken, I have to remind her it's the former. Both are very chewy and don't taste of much. They come in a little basket with a sherry glass filled with gloopy sauce (me) and sweet chilli sauce (her) both out of a jar / bottle. The main courses look identical; flabby chips, a tired looking lump of salad, and the other. In Mrs T's case the fish is Capitaine (I think) and not too bad, although she reckons it was frozen. My chicken is dry, lukewarm, tasteless and inedible. I take one bite and leave the whole thing untouched.. Mrs. T eats her fish. This is supposed to be a five star joint. I don't know about the rooms, but this "food" should never have left the kitchen. The owners are running the place for max profit and clearly don't care about the customer experience and repeat business. I can't imagine how they get so many five star reviews? I'd give them minus stars if I could. That said, the staff were nice and tried really hard. They know the food they are serving is rubbish. If I'd paid several hundred Euro to stay here I'd be wanting to speak to the owners and tell them exactly what I think before baling out and going to another hotel. Wonders Beach? The only Wonder is that they manage to stay in business serving food that the local stray dog pack would turn its nose up at. We won't be back.

We really enjoyed our holiday at Wonders Beach Boutique Hotel. The hotel is relatively small which made for a quiet and relaxed ambience. The location is perfect with the beach area easily accessible close to the pool and restaurant area. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meals were superb, We can recommend this hotel, everything easy first class.

Booked the hotel , paid the money , days from the trip and the tour co cancel the trip , no availability at the hotel Well something is wrong ! Hotel rooms still available on other booking sites Stinks bad of un professional behaviour

Very small, intimate and quiet Hotel perfect for a relaxing Holiday and with great and spacious Rooms and very friendly Staff, especially Mr. Anil who was always very kind, helpful and attentive. But everyone always went out of their way to make sure that I had a great stay. I once had an issue with the water and it was fixed almost immediately. I had booked the half board basis and Dinner was always exceptionally delicious. Overall I enjoyed it very much and would definitely want to come back some day.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Clean and well kept rooms. Restaurant needs to pay more attention to detail, although waiters are very helpful. For example fresher bread as the bread rolls are often hard and dry. Communication with regards to what is part of the All Inclusive package needs to be better as I incurred unexpected charges. Overall this hotel is good for a one week stay.
