Ferienhotel Neuwirt

I booked this hotel last minute based on strong reviews. While the Zillertal Valley is beautiful and good skiing, my stay did not justify the cost, and I would choose a different property next time. Pet policy: The hotel advertises as pet friendly, but no fee is listed online. I was informed only upon arrival of a €50 charge for additional cleaning. While a fee is understandable, it should be clearly stated in advance online when booking and not after driving hours with no other options. Cleanliness was also questionable as after wiping up a small water spill, the towel came up brown, suggesting floors (or maybe more) may not be thoroughly cleaned between guests. Location: Not walkable to town; need a car to get around unless dining on-site (which has very limited hours and I could find no menu). Sauna: On both visits it was overcrowded, with guests sitting directly on the wood without towels or attire, which felt unhygienic. Breakfast: The food was good and a variety, the setting also very nice, but service was unfriendly and rigid. Despite many open tables, I was not allowed to change seats and had to sit in less desirable locations next to coughing guests blowing their noses or larger loud groups. Room: Rooms facing toward Mayrhofen overlook a barn, with noticeable cow smells and occasional noise. Temperature control is only heat per radiators, and opening the door for fresh air to cool down the room brought in manure odors. The room felt a bit dated with thin walls (a lot of noise from other guests), uncomfortable bed and pillows (tossed and turned each night), and a very poorly designed bathroom which was extremely small, no shelves or hooks anywhere (not by the sink or in the shower), and as a petite person there was barely enough space to turn around even for me. I dropped my entire toiletries bag breaking some items due to lack of shelving or counter space and even lost a set of contact lenses. Stepping out of the shower it was nearly impossible not to run into the toilet as well. Positives: The lobby, bar, breakfast area, and patio are attractive, and the hotel has nice views and convenient ski bus access. Overall, the property has potential, but needs more attention to detail and a little more kindness. I’ve stayed in better accommodations at lesser prices in the nearby areas.

When we first arrived we were a little jealous of others that stayed across the river in Mayerhofen, but the longer we stayed the more we appreciated not being in Mayerhofen. The inn was quiet at night making it easy to sleep, the staff was wonderful, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast was delicious. We were closer to the gondola to go up in the mountains to ski than many who stayed in Mayerhofen and right behind the inn is a location on a hiking trail that led to more adventures. The walk to Mayerhofen was actually really nice on the occasions we did want to go to the city without waiting for the bus but there were options to go by bus as well.

We can highly recommend this place. Friendly and helpful staff and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Good kitchen and clean rooms. The Ski Bus stops in front of the Hotel and the Ski area is super close

We stayed here in April 2016 during snowbombing. The hotel is about an hour from Innsbruck airport and it's an easy drive or taxi was 100 euros. The hotel is a small and family run set up. It's clean and has everything you need as a base. The breakfast was ok. The only downsides for us were that the bar area was really smoky and that we had to get taxis into the centre in evenings which ended up quite expensive. Good base for ski though as there is a ski stop right outside.

The hotel includes a nice restaurant that matches the 4 stars hotel rating. We had dinner twice during our ski week with a group of colleagues and at both occasions they impressed us with excellent local food. The staff was very friendly and flexible, with a good eye for details. Definitely worth a good tip!
