Coco de Mer Hotel & Black Parrot Suites

We loved this family owned hotel so much the 1st time 3 years ago we simply had to visit again, so have just returned from 8 amazing nights celebrating my 50th birthday. We chose room 503 in the Black Parrot suites as it has amazing sunset sea views, 502 and 501 are the same view, the other suites all face the hotel and take in the sunrise. The staff are all so helpful and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble, Fiona who looks after the Black Parrot suites area, Harry in the restaurant and Tharindu the Duty Manager who we conversed with many times about the history of the Hotel and how good their staff retention was (many over 20 years service!!) An idea for your website would be to put historic photos and how the hotel has changed since it started. The 3x weekly trips to Anse Lazio beach and the nature walks led my Matt are great. That man is a credit to the place and knows so much about the islands history and wildlife he would put David Attenborough to shame. The surprise birthday cake and the waiter's singing Happy Birthday was a really nice gesture. Cant wait until we are able to return again as this place is a little piece of paradise.

We are currently in Coco de Mer hôtel, having stayed 4 nights and 1 more night to go. Right from our arrival, the experience has been amazing. The duty manager on the night we arrived, was excellent. Franklin, a waiter, is incredible with our 5 & 10 yr old. The location is great as close to harbour so easy to transfer for a day trip to La Digue or to take a boat trip for the day, we went with Endless Summer Charters who were fantastic and great with kids! The jetty with infinity pool is incredible, especially at sunset. Would absolutely recommend this hotel!

This was a really good hotel although a bit isolated with very little around the hotel although it was on a bus route. If you wanted to eat out from the hotel, I think you would need to hire a car. Our room (Superior) was very comfortable with a large king sized bed and patio doors leading to a verandah with loungers and out again to the garden and swimming pool. The room had very quiet air conditioning and a large well equipped bathroom. The room also had a bath which was a bit quirky because it was hidden in the bedroom behind a large mirror – a bit strange. The food in the hotel was provided on a good quality buffet which was changed each night to reflect a different theme. Breakfast was fairly standard european fare but they did also have curries and creole food available. All drinks at dinner were chargeable (including water) although the hotel did provide free water fountains to refill water bottles during the day. Prices of drinks were reasonable. The hotel has a couple of small beaches which all but disappear at high tide but you are able to snorkel from the end of the pier, although the concrete steps in and out of the sea are a bit of a challenge. The snorkelling is OK but not the best. The pool was reasonable but not very big. The hotel offered kayaks and paddle boards and there was a huge library of paperbacks in many languages. In addition to providing transport to Anse Lazio, the hotel also provided a nature walk through the forest behind the hotel. This was a bit strenuous but was well worth it. The walk climbs up though the forest with the guide explaining the flora and fauna including the lifecycle of the coco de mer and lots of other palms and trees. A really worthwhile trip which was completely free and easy to arrange. Overall a good hotel offering comfortable accommodation and good food.

Really nice hotel we were given free upgrade to a suite which was really nice room with views and quite pool at the top of the hill . Staff are very friendly , food is excellent . Prices are reasonable for drinks etc . It’s a nice place to chill out . Room 501 we stopped in

Had an amazing 5 day stay here at Coco De Mer. We stayed in the Adults only Black Parrot Suites, room 512, which has its own separate pool and bar area. Not sure if it was worth the extra cost as the main hotel was also fantastic and was lacking in little noisy people so would have been just as good. The single Restaurant offered just about enough of a variety for 5 days. Other restaurants are a taxi ride away as the hotel is quite isolated. Joe at the bar was great although last orders are at 10:30pm so no late night drinking. The had some low key acoustic musicians on a couple of. Nights in the restaurant which was nice. The nature walk (free) is an absolute must. The guide (think it’s Matt) is so unbelievably passionate it made it very special. His knowledge of the island, the plants and just about everything was incredible. We don’t often return to places but this will be high on the list….
