Royal Azur Thalasso

There are a lot of good points but a lot of not so good ones. Generally we had a nice relaxing time but things could have been better. We were upgraded which was amazing as the new room was very big with 2 toilets, 2 TV’s, lovely walk-in shower, definitely will not complain about that aspect. Having travelled quite a bit and must say I am quite fussy, this hotel did tick some of my boxes but not all. What wasn’t so great: the food. Unfortunately for me I struggled a lot of the time to find something to my liking. In the mornings, there are no nuts or granola & not much in the way of fruit. The porridge wasn’t nice, it was rice in milk and wasn’t hot. The toaster wasn’t always working & the butter was greasy. The cereals were all sugar based and not for me. The pancakes with Nutella were lovely but I didn’t want them everyday. Lunch was slightly better, the salads were nice & the desserts were VERY nice! Evenings I struggled, not many vegetables but I didn’t go hungry so I am not complaining. A lot of the dishes were luke warm. One thing we noticed is there is no ice cream in this hotel. We did ask at reception as we thought it maybe because we are out of season, but no………..no ice cream here surprisingly. The dressing gowns in the room did have an odour so I couldn’t use these and some of the towels had seen better days. We found most of the staff ok but unfortunately some were a little curt & rude. We generally didn’t stay for the entertainment, but what we did see wasn’t great. It could be because it is out of season. We wasn’t sure where the entertainment would be held in the heights of summer as there didn’t appear to be anywhere else other than reception to hold it. The wine & G&T’s were nice but unfortunately the cocktails lacked any decent flavour and a lot were full of pulp from the fruits used. The nice bits: has to be the staff, Chokri & Hana on reception, these 2 members of staff deserve a mention, nothing is too much trouble and they will go over and above to make your stay better. Zainab on guest relations was also lovely and very pleasant. In the restaurant, Lotfi & Fathi were the 2 that stood out for us, very attentive & outstanding in their attention to detail, no empty glasses when they were around. I have had a relaxing week but don’t think I would return here.

The hotel is excellent - it is large, clean and extremely comfortable. The service from the staff was good and attentive when required. The pools, of which there were plenty, were clean and inviting. The room was large with a super comfortable bed. Unfortunately no drawer space for clothes and limited hanging space for dresses/shirts etc. - not a good idea if you have to leave your clothes on the back of a chair! The food in the restaurant, which was very clean with good service, was varied and well presented with considerable choice. Live music was provided in the evening which added to the ambience. Very good value for a short winter getaway.

Awful !!! 1 star food terrible You do not know what you are eating 2 soups on offer tonight one pumpkin the other not a clue asked one of the managers he hadn't a clue answer it will be fished based or meat ??? Don't come here if you have any allergies probably about 70% has no marking to say what you are eating A lot of food is stone cold I watched chef bring out some ( said baked potato) looked like chips tonight my first thought was oh good something hot put a couple on my plate went back to table was stone cold !!!!!!! Definitely not 5 stars

Hotel offered the perfect relaxed couples weekend. Price was good for the offseason and the amenities offered. One disappointment was that the one heated pool was far from warm, offering rather bracing refreshment from the heat of the sun. This was commented on by a number of guests. We chose not to pay extra for the piscine aquatonique at the attached spa as we heard a fellow guest complaining to the staff about the cold pool temperature. Service was mixed, but the highlights were the guest relations manager and one of the waitstaff who made sure to have an instant decaf coffee (not provided elsewhere) sachet on him at all breakfasts for my wife. The food selection was very good and was always tasty. Though the dining setting and experience is different in the additional restaurants you’re not missing out food wise very much if you can’t get a reservation. The kitchen clearly specialises in banquet style options and that’s where its strength lies. The in house made chocolates at the cellar bar on a Saturday afternoon were surprisingly outstanding.

My experience was beautiful, and was made by the staff at the Royal Azur, they could not be more helpful. Haykel the receptionist in particular was brilliant.
