Location of the hotel was fairly remote. It’s positioned across the bay from Herig Novi The view from the hotel was magnificent. There is a water taxi Peter’s Boats who provide a great service for hotel guests ( £15 return ticket which you can use as much as you want in one day ) Single ticket £10 The hotel is clearly listed as set on a hillside and there are lots of steps. I traveled with my husband both over sixty and found it easy Great for keeping our cardio health on holiday but it will be more challenging for anyone with mobility issues. The restaurant has steps down to and up to. The restaurant is beautiful and again with magnificent views The food was very good. There were also themed nights. Our best meal was the curry night. Absolutely delicious. Sometimes the restaurant was very busy. This may have been to the time of year ( early October) Most guests ate early The weather chilly in the evenings. Bring appropriate clothing as all the entertainment is outside The rooftop terrace nice The evening entertainment was outside to ( again it was chilly ) The entertainment team go out of their way to ensure guests have a nice time. Activities throughout the day Our room was amazing. I booked a junior suite (garden view). However when we got to the hotel our room had a 180 degree view of the bay. It was very spacious and I loved the separate loo. You cannot stay at the hotel and not be impressed by the sea. Some days it was like a mill pond. Totally safe to swim in and the water not too cold. Loved all the swims. Snorkelling lovers a must. Value for money. Very good Activity wise we were not disappointed. You can walk from the hotel to Herig Novi. It takes about a hour and twenty minutes. A little bit of road , then turn right and walk down over a bridge. Not long after you can join the promenade which takes to right to the port of Herig Novi. There are lots of bars and restaurants along the way. The old town of Herig Novi is also lovely. Coffee culture squares and street and forts to visit Our favourite bar was at the port overlooking the local water polo swimming club. It’s right next to the boats at the port. Great local vibes Day trips . We booked a all day boat trip through the Peter boats which visited Kotor and other stops. Great value. Will point out that you need appropriate clothing as it’s breezy on the boat. Take layers of clothing. We also spotted dolphins which was a bonus! We arranged a trip to Dubrovnik with the hotel. Again good value and all day. The tickets for Dubrovnik wall are 40euros but worth it. We got 10% discount too from our lunch because we bought the city pass ( ticket for the walls ) You need your passports All passports checking was on the old road ( just behind the hotel so only a few minutes each time. It is much quieter than the height of season which can take hours The hotel reception is away from most of the hotel amenities. A bit underwhelming when you first get to the hotel but the staff are very efficient and helpful My only little negative was there wasn’t enough lounge seating inside to relax with a book or a drink The inside bar was very small and the chairs uncomfortable That said the majority of holiday guests would be visiting the hotel in the heart of summer so this wouldn’t be noticed. Weather. We had a very wet start on the day of arrival. I think it was nearly a years worth of rain but after that we had sunny breezy days of 22c plus ( we traveled at the beginning of October ) It’s also worth noting that the sunshine is gone from 3pm each day at the hotel due to the time of year and position. Herig Novi has sunshine for 3 hours more. The sunset looking over the bay were spectacular We traveled with TUI and the flow to Dubrovnik. Easy transfer with taxi to hotel.

Iberostar waves was a wonderful hotel. We had a sea view room , with an outstanding , breath taking view. We were holidaying as a couple, so not keen on joining in the activities but the animation team were fantastic, always busy always greeted us but we were never pestered to join in. There is music and entertainment every evening to enjoy between the pool bar and beach bar. We founds the choice of drinks to be good, lovely cocktails, mojitos, aperol sprits. If you drink spirits you will get local ones unless you just ask for Gordon's or smirnoff. Also white , red and rosie wine and prosseco. We are not fussy eaters, we enjoed everything on offer, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, but even if you are fussy there is so much choice im sure you could find something you enjoyed. Snacks of burgers, hot dogs an pastries available at the pool bar, we didn't snack at the beach bar so im not sure what was available there. Beach area is nice but stoney I would recommend beach shoes. Lovely area to swim with stunning views. There are various local boat trips to go on from afew hours to full days, we did a 2 hour one, swam in blue caves and visited the submarine tunnel all very interesting and enjoyable. A taxi boat runs every hour or so through out the day across the bay to Herceg Novi, 10euro one way or 15euro return. Beautiful quaint place to visit, we enjoyed a meal watching the montenegro nation water polo champions, Japan, practice unreal t watch. The only thing I would say is f you struggle with steps/stairs or hills you may find the hotel lay out and locality difficult to manage.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for 2 weeks in September 2025. Our first impression at point of drop off was we were a little underwhelmed, the entry to the hotel is up a narrow lane and nothing flashy around the reception area, however, our opinions change once we went to the check in reception. The young woman who checked us in was pleasant, polite and informative and this trend continued throughout our stay, the staff team were brilliant. The views from the hotel are outstanding, we had a top floor room with views across the bay, we could watch the sunrise above the channel that leads to Kotor, a sunrise I will remember for a long time. Three are a lot of steps and hills around the hotel, it is certainly not suitable for people with mobility issues. The restaurant is down and then up steps as is the pool and beach/pier area. The sea is very clean, to the point that Sea Urchins are thriving, you benefit from bathing shoes if you go in from the beach area but there are steps from the pier directly into the sea and it is deep enough to swim without touching the bottom. We saw a pod of Dolphins one day. There is so much choice in the restaurant, with different themed nights and a range of fish, meat or vegetarian food available. There is a small selection of gluten free cereal, biscuits, crackers and bread available too. I enjoyed chatting to Ogy in the Restaurant, I think he may have been a manager, we had some interesting chats about Montenegro, Croatia and tourism. He was very professional and had time for people. You can take the taxi boat to Herceg Novi, well worth the 15 euros it is a beautiful town with a wide choice of restaurants shops and bars, again a lot of steps and hills to climb but lovely if you can manage. There are two forts, one on the front that is very visible, but also one up the hill/steps directly outside of the harbor. The views from the top fort are worth the climb, it was 4 euros to get in per person and there is an informative video in the Visitors Center outlining the history of the town. A very pleasant young woman sells tour tickets beside the swimming pool which we felt we good value. We booked the tour down to Kotor stopping at a two points on the way there and for a swim stop on the way back. This again was well worth the money, Kotor is also stunning. We also went to Dubrovnik and Tivat by coach and boat. Again, an excellent tour, Dubrovnik was crowded and very expensive (40 euros to walk the city walls), Tivat was the opposite, quaint and beautiful. A big shout out to the Entertainment Team, they were superb, lots of activity's which are well advertised, the Music Quiz can be great fun. The sports facilities include two table tennis tables, Volley Ball, Water Polo, Pétanque. We walked all the way around the bay to Herceg Novi and took the taxi boat back to the hotel, all in all it took a couple of hours, with some interesting sites along the way, including an ancient church with incredible paintings inside. There is a small shop and a restaurant just outside the hotel, I did not use it so not sure how much stock it holds but the main shops are in Herceg Novi. There is a fresh water point at the end of every corridor and a water jug in your room, with a small fridge. Our room 2506 was kept spotless by the lovely housekeeper. The lifts in our building were very reliable. The only negative point I would make is that our wristband room keys stopped working, we went to reception and were given two card keys, two days latter they stopped working. It was quite a trail from our room to reception and when I went back with the second keys the different receptionist suggested the keys had been beside our mobile phones, which was not the case. If the hotel can address this it would be a further positive, the wristband keys were easy to use. All in all, a great holiday, made so by the wonderful staff team, the setting and Montenegro as a country
