Dreams Cap Cana Resort & Spa

The hotel was stunning. The food amazing, and so many different options to choose from, The pools were clean, and the resort was family friendly. The staff was helpful and accommodating. My only complaint was that I would have liked to go in the ocean, but it was impossible to even step food in, the water was swampy. For our first experience in this resort and in Punta Cana I would say it was amazing.

We stayed at this resort for 7 days, and while there were several positive aspects, there were also some significant disappointments. The biggest issue was the beach. It was covered with large amounts of seaweed, very rocky, and had a strong unpleasant smell. The water was also very murky and even appeared reddish at times. We feel guests should be informed of these conditions before booking, as they had a major impact on our vacation. Another disappointment was the kids' club. It was mainly designed for children under the age of five, which was not made clear in advance. We believe more activities could have been offered for older children. The sports facilities were also quite limited, with only one tennis court, two pickleball courts, and a single ping pong table. In addition, several restaurants were closed during our stay, and there was very little entertainment offered throughout the resort. Compared to other resorts we have visited in the Dominican Republic, we also found the spa to be quite small. On the positive side, the hotel is exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. The food quality was good, and the selection of fresh fruits and vegetables was satisfactory. However, there was a limited selection of red meat at the buffet. This is a good resort for travelers who prefer smaller, quieter properties rather than large, busy resorts. Everything is conveniently located within walking distance, and the resort is close to the airport. Although we stayed for 7 days, we felt we had experienced everything the resort had to offer after about 4 days. Overall, I would recommend this resort for a short stay if you are looking for a peaceful, clean, and intimate resort close to the airport. If you are looking for a lively atmosphere with a wide variety of activities, entertainment, and dining options, you may want to consider a larger resort.

Amazing experience. Everything from the rooms to the resort grounds were breathtaking. Everything is spotless, from the pools to the rooms, this resort has mastered cleanliness. This resort is fantastic for families as there is many different options to entertain all ages. The rooms are updated and there are tons of food options for everyone to choose from. Staff is very attentive in every department on this resort and is always trying to enhance everyone’s experience. Shoutout to the entertainment department on the resort! Specifically, Ellion made my family feel so welcome by remembering us all by name and checking in everyday to let us know about new resort events. I would 100% return to this resort.

We just left Dreams Cap Cana after a weeklong stay. (June 27th - July 3rd). We booked 3 Preferred Club Oceanfront rooms for 6 family members. From the time we arrived and were greeted with cool towels to the moment we left after checkout, we never had an issue that wasn’t immediately taken care of (and there weren’t many issues to begin with). They say “Welcome Home” when you arrive - and it truly felt like it. The reviews about the beach are true (it is very rocky directly in front of the resort) and we were here during an abnormally intense saragassum season. When the seaweed is not present, there is useable beach within a 5-10 minute walk to the north. They were doing their best to clean it up on the beach, but it literally is overwhelming their capabilities right now. The beach view and atmosphere is still quite enjoyable, even with the seaweed issue. The resort is beautiful and the pools are amazing! We spent all of our pool time at the Preferred Club member pool & the Kaiman swim-up bar. There were plenty of cabanas and pool chairs available (they are first-come, first-served) and at this pool the cabanas are free for Preferred Club guests (they will confirm your room number). There were workers constantly tending to the needs of the guests, and I did not see trash or dirty areas anywhere we went. The restaurants were all good for the most part, and provided a decent selection. We were here 6 nights and we were able to eat something different every night. The steakhouse and Italian restaurant were both really good. My wife and I also booked a romantic dinner on the beach for 1 of the nights - this was an amazing experience with some of the best food of the trip and exceptional service! Well worth the extra $200 for this option. We booked 2 excursions through Amstar at the resort : Bavaro Adventure Park and Bavaro Runners Safari Culture tour. Both were all day excursions and included transportation from and to the resort. The Adventure Park included zip lining, horseback riding, buggy course, lazy river, waterfall pool, and a blue lagoon denote, underground river and a delicious Dominican lunch (there are alternative foods available for purchase). You will get COMPLETELY FILTHY on the buggy course from the dust and mud - wear clothes and shoes that you are ok with throwing away afterwards; but it was probably the highlight of the excursion. All of the staff at the park were amazing, but Carlos stood out above the rest - during the horseback ride, he took my wife and I onto a trail and meadow separate from the rest of the group and for about 15 minutes we got to trot, canter, and gallop. What an amazing experience! The Safari Culture tour takes you deep into the Dominican countryside of La Altagracia where you travel to Higuey City to see the beautiful Basilica cathedral. You will see the large city life of Higuey, as well as many small towns surrounding the area. There is also a short horseback ride, an educational talk about sugar cane processing, a cigar rolling demonstration, a cacao bean and coffee bean plantation visit (with tastings, including cocoa and coffee that is ground immediately after roasting) and another Dominican style lunch, all capped off with a short visit to beautiful Macao beach. They even serve bottled water, Sprite, & Coca-Cola (with or without rum) several times on the trip. Ruddy was our guide and Ramon was our driver - they were both beyond amazing! Again, all of the staff at Dreams Cap Cana were friendly and very helpful at all times and I don’t want to exclude anyone - but there a few members that deserve special attention for going above and beyond during our stay : Seneida (our butler) : she was amazing!! She would check in with us frequently to see what we needed, arranged laundry pickup and drop off for us, checked in before and after our excursions to make sure we were safe and had a pleasant experience, and took care of any questions or concerns as soon as we brought them to her attention. She was so friendly and sweet - she even arranged a surprise for my wife and I one afternoon. When we returned to our room, a bubble bath had been drawn, rose petals were all around the tub, and a bottle of wine was being chilled - completely unexpected! Elian/Fabulous! (Activity director) : from the first day we were there to the last, he would call out my girls by name anywhere around the resort (and referred to my wife as Diva & my mother-in-law as Queen!). He had so much energy all day, every day - and made it so much fine while hanging out around the pool. Santos (waiter for beach romantic dinner) : this man was amazing! His level of service and professionalism went way beyond what was expected or required. It truly felt like we were eating dinner at a 3 star Michelin restaurant. He took care of every need and request - all while walking the food quite a distance from the preparation location to our beach table. We also met the chef for the evening - while I did not catch his name, he prepared an amazing 4 course experience! Hector (Palm Bar evening bartender) : Hector was amazing! He was very outgoing and personable, was very experienced behind the bar, and made each night memorable. What a great way to unwind at the end of the day! He treated us like we were family and always had positive energy the whole time we were there. Several times my wife told him “surprise me” when ordering, and every time he put together a drink that was outstanding and exactly what she was looking for. When asked what the drink was called, he would just say “Wow”! Entire housekeeping and minibar staff at Building 1 : this hardworking staff did a fantastic job cleaning and stocking all 3 of our rooms every day, often unseen and without recognition. They all did an amazing job! I have one recommendation for anyone traveling to this resort : TIP! TIP! TIP! While we never noticed a staff members attitude change when someone around us didn’t tip (they always stayed positive and hard-working), we could tell that when we would tip the staff for their service - even if it was just a dollar or two for very basic service - they were extremely grateful. Please dont take their hard work for granted - a smile, kind words or a note, and a couple dollars (or more if warranted) can go along way to make someone’s day.

We had a wonderful stay. We travel to DR 4-6 times a year but first time at this resort. We had a preferred category swim up suite which was spacious with a 55” flatscreen, mini bar, king bed, loveseat, plenty of drawer and closet space. The bathroom had a double sink with separate bath and shower and close door commode. The staff was hospitable, friendly and eager to accommodate. Our accommodations included butler services and we had an exceptional, extraordinary, detail oriented butler named ALMA who ensured that our stay was memorable. The grounds, facilities, spa services and preferred lounge promoted an elite atmosphere. Our only downside was the food since it was often cold, over cooked, meats were dry, tough and over seasoned. We enjoyed a relaxing stay and appreciated the staff and facilities but would probably not return due to the food quality and flavor.
