Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa

Food was not good anywhere. Service was slow and tip dependent. Aggressive about tips. Entertainment was novice. Not much night life. AC cannot be adjusted in room. Despite saying 60 was around 80 in room. TV would not work 2 nights. No one could fix it. Tub leaked - not fixed. Elevator was not working two days. Very disappointing for a Hyatt. Max a 3 star

Maiky was the absolute best - he made our trip great! This is a newer resort that still has lots to work out as it relates to responsiveness and timeliness.

My family and I travelled to Dreams Playa Esmeralda for summer vacation and it was an exceptional experience. The beach is lovely, the food was good, and staff was so courteous. Our butler Junior made sure all our needs were taken care of and our friend, Altagracia, at the Preferred Club Pool was the and best. She made our daughters feel welcomed and gave our entire family a curated lesson in speaking Spanish. It was muy bueno! Overall, the rooms were comfortable but not the best, but the beach, entertainment, and service made up for it. Be careful as Dreams guests cannot access preferred club spaces at Secrets which is next door. The restaurants are shared but you may be surprised when you are not permitted entry to preferred club spaces at Secrets even when you have preferred club at Dreams. We attended a seminar with Jeanne and so happy to have finished in one hour. Highly recommend this resort as a family destination in Dominican Republic.

We originally booked a regular reservation for our family vacation to Dreams Playa Esmeralda in Miches, but we decided to upgrade to the Preferred Experience. We are so happy we did! The change was absolutely amazing, and the staff in the Preferred Club treated us exceptionally well. The service we received was next-level across the board. A few special shoutouts: Makey (Our Butler): He did a phenomenal job going the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable in every single aspect of our stay. Windows Restaurant Staff: The Preferred restaurant team was incredible, especially Belén, Marilú, and Adriana. They were always a step ahead with their service and treatment. Pool Bar Team: The servers and barmen at the pool were fantastic. A special thanks to David at the bar and our wonderful server, Alta Gracia, for taking such great care of us. Housekeeping & Room Service: Our housekeeping team was always on top of our room's needs, keeping everything flawless. We also ordered room service during our stay—the food was great, and the delivery was incredibly fast! Entertainment & Kids' Activities: The animation team did a fantastic job keeping the energy up and making the trip fun. Our kids also absolutely loved the pool and amenities, thanks in large part to the amazing ladies at the Explorer's Club. The Only Minor Drawback: The only thing that wasn't perfect was the travel time on the road to get to the resort. It is a bit of a drive, but with the massive increase in infrastructure and new resorts being built in the area, I wouldn't be surprised if this generates the need for a closer airport in the future. The Verdict: We recommend this resort and the upgrade 100%. If you are coming with a standard reservation, make sure you ask for the Preferred Club upgrade—you won't regret it. Honestly, we don't think we can go on a vacation without the Preferred Experience anymore!

Great location with an amazing beach front area don't let the distance from Punta Cana airport put you off this Resort. This Resort has the potential to be excellent so much potential with the right management team in place unfortunately the management team let this place down and the staff who try very hard to ensure you have an amazing vacation. Leadership and training is vital for any business model to thrive and grow some of these managers hold their position because they speak some of the English language not for their people, hospitality management capabilities some of the team appointed just communicate through the leadership team and General Manager nothing more. Don't put any down payment and part with money especially cash ensure any dealings with management especially Mr Wilman Alvarez Preferred Club Manager is supervised with another manager present as a witness, this character should be removed from this position of trust. I will be putting a complaint in writing via the Hyatt membership leadership team on my arrival back to the UK regarding this character's training and actions. The General Manager must be happy with this managers performance they didn't even acknowledge my complaint made at preferred club reception. I will update my progress.
