Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & SPA

We stayed as preferred guests and had a swim out on the secrets side was nice pools are very small for a swim out and shared with entire building if you like the sun request building 7 get to from 12ish to it’s gone food is amazing we enjoyed all of it staff so many staff to acknowledge Maximo and his team at the preferred pool I not god with names I apologize Brenda the entertainment The beach is rough but walk to the left 5 minutes and it’s calm and peaceful this part of the island does get more rain then other which I didn’t know but we made the best of it will we come back probably was a very nice enjoyable stay

Our stay was incredible! Everything was top notch. The location was remote and made it quiet and peaceful. The atmosphere was upscale beachy and tropical. The rooms were perfect and the bed was just like home. Housekeeping went out of their way to keep our room clean and refreshed. We were not a fan of traveling 1.5 hours to get to some of the excursions, so we contacted taxi driver Daniel del Carmen, Turistico Miches to take us into Miches. He made our week! Not only did he drive us, but he also informed us of local details, took us to a vista for a beautiful view of the hills and ocean, he took is to learn how to make cocoa, local shops AND he helped us with Spanish. Happy Day for sure!

The resort is very nice but the food is very hit or miss. The drinks at the preferred pool bar were meh (unless you like the frozen sugar drinks). The mixers were either watered down or had the fake lime/lemon taste. The employees are wonderful. Very nice and always seemed to be happy. Our butler Jesus was very nice. We're very low maintenance people but he kept trying to find ways to make our stay special. Thank you Jesus. Keila, the food manager went out of her way to make sure my meal was prepared properly after I sent my steak back bc cooked incorrectly. The beach is nice but it was rough (yellow and red flag) our entire trip. I never saw anyone doing a water sport. The beach in front of dreams mostly had a black flag which is do not swim. This is crazy bc their is no physical separation between the two beach areas. Its just one long beach. Bottom line, if you want to just go hang out by a pool and drink alcohol and eat mediocre food, this is the place for you. But the employees are wonderful and do everything they can to make your stay perfect.

Traveled to Secrets Esmeralda Resort4-25==5-2 had a great time. Transfer was 2hr 20 minute from airport to the resort on a busy Saturday afternoon . Check in @ Preferred Club with no issues. Had a beautiful room on the 4th floor ocean view. Room stocked with everything we needed with plenty of space for all of our belongings. Restaurants: We ate at most of them including the Buffet. As most guests say, the food was hit or miss ,but never terrible. They still have some fine tuning to do, give it some more time. Staff: They were all so helpful and made us feel so welcome. Bars: never waited for drinks or had to get someones attention. Entertainment : We had a lot of fun with the group at the Preferred Pool daily. We played many games, Corn hole, Ladder golf, Bingo, Hat painting, Bracelet and necklace making and candle making which kept us busy if you were interested in participating. Brennnnnda made it fun and got many involved. Also thanks to Baby Face for coming to Secrets for a few days. See you in July at Dreams Macao. Guests: We sat at the Preferred Pool everyday. We met so many fun people. It felt like a group of @ 50 friends all hanging out together at a private pool. Everyone was there to have a great time. We miss you all ! Gabriel was our Butler, he was such a wonderful person and made sure from morning to evening that we were ok and if we needed anything! He would stop by a couple times everyday to check on us. He made all of our dinner reservations and made sure our refrigerator was stocked with what we wanted. He presented himself very well and had a great attitude and smile. I will definitely will request him again next trip. Extraordinary people at their jobs: Darling and Eric at the Gym so helpful. Maximo, Kelvin and Noemy @ the Preferred bar. (Coors light w/ice) Great energy,. friendly . ** Happy 41 Maximo!! How you doing?** Brenda-Happy, hilarious and fun to be around. Perfect at her job! Bernice- Preferred Lobby bar. She has the greatest smile and always friendly. Enjoyed talking with her when she wasn't busy. Stephy-,Portofino and Buffet. She was so full of energy and has such a positive attitude. we loved seeing her every morning. Deiby-Pool Concierge kept things in check at the pools. Stephanie- Preferred Club Mgr. was very nice and professional and made sure we were happy with the services we were receiving at the resort. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be coming back for another great week at the Esmeralda Resort. See you again.
