We recently returned from a wonderful family holiday at Sunscape Coco Punta Cana, where we celebrated my mum's 70th birthday. Overall, we had an amazing experience and created memories that we will cherish for years to come. Outstanding Staff The staff throughout the resort were absolutely incredible. They were always friendly, approachable, and genuinely eager to help. No request ever seemed too much trouble, and their warmth and professionalism made a huge difference to our holiday experience. We would particularly like to thank Katerin and Diana, who worked around the pool and beach serving drinks in extremely hot and humid conditions. Despite working long hours, they always took the time to check on us, ensure we had everything we needed, and greet us with a smile. Their kindness and attentiveness made our holiday even more special. Accommodation Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout our stay. While some areas could perhaps benefit from a refresh, the housekeeping team did an excellent job of keeping everything spotless, fresh, and tidy. Food & Dining The food throughout the resort was excellent. The main buffet restaurant offered a vast selection of delicious dishes that were well seasoned, plentiful, and consistently served hot. Breakfast was particularly enjoyable. At busy times, the buffet occasionally felt slightly understaffed. Due to the large number of guests using the restaurant, it was sometimes difficult to find a table already set with cutlery and glasses or to have drinks served promptly. However, whenever we requested assistance, staff were always happy to help and did so enthusiastically, although it could occasionally take some time to receive the items requested. The à la carte restaurants were all fantastic. As is common with many all-inclusive resorts, reservations are made on the day and can involve queuing. Fortunately, we received assistance from a wonderful member of staff who helped us arrange bookings in advance for my mum's birthday celebrations, which was greatly appreciated. We also booked one of the premium dining experiences and enjoyed a beautiful steak dinner on the beach. It was a truly memorable evening and well worth the additional cost. The snack van and pizza restaurant were excellent additions throughout the day, particularly for families with children. Bars & Drinks The bars offered a great selection of drinks, including quality spirits that were included within the all-inclusive package. Although we felt an additional daytime bar somewhere on the complex could have been beneficial, service was generally quick and efficient. The minibar in our room was restocked daily with beers and soft drinks, which was a lovely touch and allowed us to enjoy refreshments on our terrace while taking a break from the sun. The coffee bar was also excellent, serving freshly ground coffee 24 hours a day and proving to be a popular addition to the resort. Children's Activities The Kids Club offered a wide range of activities. Although our children preferred not to attend independently, the Kids Club team regularly approached us to let us know about activities they thought our children would enjoy. This personal approach was greatly appreciated. Our children particularly enjoyed making pizzas with the chefs and decorating ceramics. There were many other activities available, and it was clear that children attending the club were having a wonderful time. Entertainment The resort had a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day and evening. The main pool area was lively and fun, with plenty of organised activities for both adults and children. The animation team worked incredibly hard and brought enormous energy and enthusiasm to everything they did. The evening entertainment was of a very high standard and provided something enjoyable for all ages. There were also vendors selling souvenirs and other items during the evenings. While we understand they are trying to make a living, the starting prices often felt extremely unrealistic. For example, my son wanted a simple black beaded necklace with a cross, for which we were initially quoted US$120. The experience of having to negotiate prices down from such inflated starting points could be quite uncomfortable. Beach The beach was absolutely beautiful, with soft white sand and plenty of sunbeds available. The staff worked tirelessly to clear seaweed throughout the day, despite the constant volume washing ashore. Their efforts were impressive and ensured the beach remained attractive and enjoyable. The beach bar was excellent, and the music throughout the day helped create a wonderful holiday atmosphere. Beach Vendors Our main criticism of the beach experience relates to some of the independent vendors operating there. While we fully appreciate that people are trying to earn a living and support their families, the pricing was often extremely unrealistic. On one occasion, we were quoted US$160 for two shot glasses, a small bottle of Mamajuana, and a simple beaded bracelet. Similarly, vendors offering photographs with parrots initially quoted one price before attempting to charge substantially more afterwards. But before you could do anything they would have already placed a parrot in your childs hand and then you felt pressure to participate and pay This created some uncomfortable situations and unfortunately resulted in us avoiding interactions altogether, despite being more than willing to purchase reasonably priced souvenirs and support the locals. Stolen Items Sadly, our children's flippers, armbands, buckets, and spades were taken from our balcony. We were staying on the ground floor and, in hindsight, probably should not have left items outside. However, they were wet from use and had simply been left out to dry before being brought back into the room. Excursion Experience – Important Feedback The one significant disappointment of our holiday involved an excursion booked through Sea Pro, the excursion provider operating within the hotel complex. We booked a private family excursion costing US$650 for three hours, which included snorkelling, swimming with sharks and stingrays, and visiting a lagoon. Prior to booking, we were advised by Sea Pro staff not to use VIP Tours, as we were told they were "dangerous". Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations. Issues included: The boat provided was extremely small and offered no shade from the sun. We had just enough room for the six of us (four adults and two children aged five and eight) to squeeze together at the bow. We were not informed that we needed to bring food to attract fish while snorkelling. Given the cost of the excursion, we felt basic fish food or bread should have been provided. Our photographer left during the excursion without explanation, jumping onto another boat when we arrived at the shark and stingray experience. The shark and stingray experience lasted only around 15 minutes. No educational information was provided about the animals. Most of our family missed seeing the sharks entirely. We encountered only one stingray despite being in an enclosed area specifically intended for this activity. When we raised our concerns afterwards, we felt our feedback was dismissed rather than properly considered. Despite approaching the matter calmly and politely, some staff appeared dismissive and even mocked our concerns. When we suggested raising the issue with management, they simply laughed and replied, "Do it." VIP Tours – A Completely Different Experience In contrast, we later booked a very similar excursion through VIP Tours, which operates from the beach. The difference was remarkable. For approximately US$200 in total: We travelled on a comfortable glass-bottom boat. A photographer accompanied us throughout the trip, capturing both candid and posed photographs and videos. Food was provided for attracting fish during the snorkelling experience. We received excellent educational information about the sharks and stingrays. Participants were given plenty of opportunities to interact with the animals. Numerous photographs and videos were taken throughout the excursion. The atmosphere was relaxed, professional, and enjoyable. The trip was safe, well staffed, and highly interactive. The captain even allowed our children to steer the boat and entertained them in the water with handstands and other fun activities. Music was played throughout the trip, and guests were even invited to connect their own phones if they wished. The contrast between the two experiences was substantial, both in terms of value for money and overall quality. We shared this feedback with Sea Pro, who again appeared uninterested in our concerns. Their focus remained solely on the fact that we had hired a "private boat", seemingly disregarding the shortcomings of the actual experience. This issue should not reflect negatively on the wider hotel team, who were exceptional throughout our stay, but it is important feedback for future guests. Final Thoughts Despite the disappointment surrounding the Sea Pro excursion, we had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana is a fun, welcoming, family-friendly resort with excellent food, beautiful surroundings, fantastic entertainment, and some of the hardest-working staff we have ever encountered. The kindness, positivity, and dedication shown by the resort team played a huge role in making our holiday so special. We would happily recommend Sunscape Coco Punta Cana to families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable Caribbean holiday. Our advice would simply be to exercise caution when booking excursions and purchasing from independent vendors, and to research alternative providers before committing to the options available within the hotel complex.
Animátoři jsou naprosto skvělí a úžasní. Taky velice krásní chlapci ❤️ Capucino je naprostý best. Pumba okouzlující.. Velice úžasní animátoři!! Večerní párty tance naprostý luxus. Vtáhnou vás do jiného světa 😘
Very bad experience.I went there and it was only all HAITIANS in the hotel. We came for Dominican culture and experience, but we were left with Haitian culture. They don't hire Dominican at all ,all their staff is Haitian. Avoid this hotel at all cost
Lack of Basic Supplies and Room Issues Even after speaking directly with the manager, the room still lacked: • Towels • A working alarm clock (replaced with another non-working clock) • A proper light fixture at the desk. Only after repeated complaints were these issues addressed. 4. Food Quality and Upselling Pressure The food quality was far below Hyatt standards. Beef dishes were extremely tough, and overall quality was poor. Additionally, upon arrival, the staff attempted to pressure us into: • Booking private restaurants every night • Listening to lengthy sales pitches • Joining the “Hyatt Club” for $800 This aggressive upselling is inappropriate and detracts from the all-inclusive experience guests have already paid for. Restaurants Buffet: No teaspoons available for the whole 7 days of our stay, was told to remove the tea bag with a fork? Stir coffee with the knife? OUR PAST EXPERIENCES AT HYATT PLACES WAS MUCH DIFFERENT, YOU ARE ON A DECLINE TO BE A "MOTEL 6" WITH "DENNY'S FOOD" 5. Inconsistent Amenities and Unfair Restrictions All pools closed at 7 PM — except for the club members’ pool, which remained open until midnight. This created an unfair and frustrating environment for regular guests. 6. Overall Experience The combination of poor room conditions, safety hazards, delayed service, aggressive sales tactics, and substandard food completely ruined what should have been a relaxing vacation. This experience does not reflect the quality, professionalism, or hospitality associated with the Hyatt brand.
