Viva Miches by Wyndham

Weak management, clueless and ineffective This resort advertises as safe for coeliacs and you can holiday with no worries. It was anything but. We holiday a lot, in many places and this was the worst experience we have had of any. From large resorts to small boutique hotels in mainland resorts and tiny islands, viva miches was the lowest of low. Staff couldn’t care less, they consistently put health at risk through negligence. Despite daily visits wasting much of our precious holiday, nothing improved we had staff laugh in our face when serving a supposed gluten dish covered in cake - its decoration they laughed. There’s a fundamental, weak, lack of understanding about how serious this is. It has taken six months to recover from daily failure. Luckily I always pack a suitcase of food. If it wasn’t for that we would have been in serious trouble. Whilst there were other good and bad points, this was the overriding failure of our holiday. I would have been slightly more understanding if our next holiday hadn’t been to the tiny island of Sal where staff bent over backwards, management were incredible and staff looked out for us- in an island with no resources - they can do it! Every meal was a drama, from cross contamination, things covered in gluten, incorrect labels, staff guessing/ lying…!you name it, we had it all. Unlike other resorts, it is a car crash of hoping for the best, spending hours in a queue at guest services to ask for food that is forgotten or they argue and tell you it was never ordered. It was the worst experience - clearly we aren’t the only ones as they tried to get us to sign a non disclosure which they had prepared in advance, we didn’t sign- but we do have a photo of it! I could go on and on, but thank goodness it is a memory, that we have finally moved on from.

We really enjoyed our stay here at Viva Miches Wyndham in Dominican Republic. Awesome animation and shows, perfect food. Really unique location. Had a lot of fun with Brandon at the beer gsme. Holi festival abd the funny foam parties in the hotel pools.

Spent one week at this resort. Here are some of our experiences while we were there: 1) Wifi was unavailable most times. Connection to the internet was poor. Many people complained about this that we met during our stay. 2) Booze quality was poor. Off Brands I never heard of at all bars. They had better brands but those brands were only served to the members of the resort. You cannot get better quality liquor even if you want to pay extra for it. 3) Customer service was poor at the hotel. We had to wait in line numerous times even to ask a simple question! Members only customer service desk was always open but they would not serve you if you are not a member. 4) Members only would get served liquor first at every bar....even if you were in line waiting to get a drink. 5) most employees working at the resort do not speak or understand English at all. Hard to request something most times. 6) Shuttle service to the hotel from Punta Cana is 1.5hrs away !!! We had no idea that the resort was so far away from the city. No liquor served on the bus...wtf ! 7) Lots of TV stations available......IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND SPANISH. Minimal channels available in English 8) Buffet food at most times was good but sometimes, cold and tasteless. They did not offer cream for coffee drinkers nor did have any Clamato or Tomato juice for Caesars or Bloody Mary cocktails...Only the basics. Resort was very clean and well maintained. Nightly entertainment was fair to say the least and the Main Attraction that week ( Michael Jackson Show ) was average. Would we advise people to go there for a getaway.......no ! There are way better places to spend your hard earned dollars so take the time to research and do your homework. I give this resort a 2 out of 5

Great beach/resort and would definitely recommend… just a few small things. Negative * Not enough shade around pool… need more umbrellas  * Not enough to do for teenagers… should be a games room or something like this in evenings (sports bar has 1 pool table but need to be 18+ to enter) * Buffet regularly missing some condiments (such as butter, ketchup, peanut butter) * Pools an awkward layout and no access to swim up bar from any of main pools… * Room a bit small for a week with 2 adults and 2 teen boys. Also no big drawers so we had to live out of our suitcases Positive * Beautiful beach… best ever by far as isolated from other resorts and you can walk quite far and the beaches are entirely untouched. It’s worth the extra drive from Punta Cana! * The ocean in bay also very calm so you’re not fighting the waves * Free use of kayaks, paddle boards, and small catamarans (with seasoned captains available to book (at no extra cost, though we did tip them)) * Some meals amazing… steak + mashed potatoes on grill at beachside restaurant, tapanaki meal was also amazing, some of the grilled food on beach as well (chicken wings, corn on cob). These were best meals but food was generally good overall. * Very clean everywhere and staff very attentive to this  * Best resort gym I’ve ever seen/used… located on 4th floor and overlooking ocean so you can watch the waves while using treadmill 😊 They also open the windows wide so you can feel the breeze as well * Lots of kittens around resort which was super cute and felt like part of the entertainment. I suspect the cat population will grow exponentially though and may become a problem at some point…

I stayed here for two days and had a great experience. The hotel is very modern and the facilities are beautiful and well maintained. Our room was clean, spacious, and quiet, and we even had our own swim-up pool which we made sure to enjoy while watching the sunset. The views around the resort are amazing and the food was very good as well. During our stay we went on some great excursions including snorkeling in a natural pool and visiting La Hacienda Park, which was a lot of fun. One of our friends stayed behind at the hotel while we went out and spent the day relaxing there, and when we came back she looked completely refreshed and said she had a great time just enjoying the resort.
