Park Hotel Folgarida

We had recently seen other reviews which were very critical of this hotel, so we were concerned about our stay. Instead we had a very good experience. In particular: Staff are friendly, professional and helpful. Any issues (radiator constantly on; fan making strange noises) were quickly fixed. Food is plentiful for breakfast and dinner, with the buffet giving you lots of options. The quality is good with some of the dinners very tasty indeed. Rooms are fine - not large but good enough for a week's ski trip. Beds are definitely 'firm'. Shower was excellent with plenty of hot water. We used the spa pretty much every day as it was great to relax in the saunas or pool post-ski. Having the ski hire shop practically in the building was very handy and service was smooth. Ski in and ski out made accessing the slopes easy. The only downsides... The hotel is near nothing other than other hotels, so if you're looking to head out in the evening this is not the best location for you. The hotel is clearly aimed at families, so lots of children around. We did not have any issue at all - they were well-entertained by staff and their own families but it's certainly not a peaceful place to stay.

Location of the hotel was excellent for skiing, but it was a long way from anything else. In-house ski hire was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Hotel was clean, we were in the new wing which was great but the capacity in the rest of the hotel can now not cope with the increased number of bedrooms. Pool area was very noisy with lots of children running and jumping and pool staff did not enforce the swim caps, or no under 16s in the jacuzzi rules. Reception staff were not very helpful, we had issues with parking and were not told that we needed to be in the restaurant by 07:30 in able to secure a table for dinner the same night, we were not allowed to pre book dinner, this added stress to our stay. On the one night we did manage to get dinner in the hotel everyone arrived at once and swamped the buffet so stocks ran out early especially as some tables were grabbing big plates of food to put in the middle of their own tables and a lot of this was left to go to waste at the end of the night. Also wine was only available by the bottle and we were not allowed to bring drinks in from the hotel bar.

Great location let down by poor service apart from the ski rental team who were super helpful! Despite emailing twice and phoning before our visit we didn’t have evening meal booked! There is no system just ask early at breakfast, by 7:45am it was already full. After the nightmare of trying to park the car we were reluctant to move it during our stay. In 4 nights we only had one evening meal in the hotel. We were in the annexe rooms which are nice and quieter than the man hotel but randomly you have to go outside to the ground floor rooms. The spa was full of children even after 6 pm not wear by caps and swimming in the spa pool! The location to the slope couldn’t be better

Just spent a week in this place for a skip trip with a couple of friends, but while the skiing was great, the hotel left a little to be desired. The Good - Location wise, the Park Hotel is about 3km from the centre of Folgarida, with no transport links other than taxis, so if you're in your own vehicle its great, if you get there via transfer, getting to the centre is tricky. That said, the scenery is truly spectacular, the mountain and valley is quite heavily wooded, the hotel is both ski in and ski out, and when you ski out, there's a gondola with ticket office just a couple of hundred meters downslope. Along the road from the gondola station and ticket office, there's a small supermarket selling some nice local foods as well as the essentials, and a couple of bars/restaurants which are worth a visit. Again, just opposite the lower entrance to the gondola station there's footbridge over the main road which leads you to a snowshoeing trail into the nearby forest, and this train is simply stunning. I only walked the first hour of the trail, but it was one of the highlights of my holiday. The not-so Good - The Park Hotel is a big place, which seems to be frequented by families mostly, but there isn't really that much for the kids to do, so while I was there, this led to absolute chaos. with children using the hotel as playground, running and shouting along the corridors, in the bar and in the restaurant. The restaurant is a buffet service, and while some of the food is good, its just a bun fight at every meal to get your food and then return to your table with it. There is not separation for families and adults, everyone just turns up at the same time and swarms on the food. This also results in a lot of folks pushing past dining tables to get to and from, and in the service, ordering drinks taking a very long time. Hand in hand with the crowds goes the screaming of children and adults, the inevitable dropping of plates, and general mayhem. In short, if you're looking for a relaxed dining experience at the end of fun day's skiing, the Park Hotel isn't for you. The hotel is also a bit basic. The rooms are small, the beds hard (both me and a friend on this holiday had back trouble because of the small hard mattresses.) Now, all that said, the staff were friendly, and when I arrived too late for dinner on the first night, the hotel had thoughfully left a plate of food and a bottle of water in my room, so service wise, i had no complaints. Prices were also reasonable, and the attached spa and pool were very good indeed. There's also an onsite ski-rental shop and boot room. But, at the end of the day, while I'm sure this hotel will suit some, this just isn't a restful place to stay. On the morning that i was leaving my transfer bus picked me up at 5am, but I'd had almost no sleep because there were kids playing in the hallways until after midnight, effectively ignored by their parents.

Can only agree with previous comments regarding this Hotel,by far the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It’s the fact that your door bell get rung every time a group of screaming kids go past your room that is not acceptable. Complaints had been made to reception staff who were powerless to do anything about it. I have 8 grandchildren and know how noisy kids can get but this is extreme. Crystal holidays should not send guests to this Hotel.
