Hotel & Residence Griesfeld

We stayed at apartment house of this hotel. It is not high class hotel (***) but they are offering a decent swimming pool, sauna and infra-red cabin. Apartment we used are well equipped, although with the old furniture. The most important thing that everything is very clean. It is situated exactly 3 km from the bottom of the cable car. Strongly recommend!

Just returned from a 4-day stay at the Griesfeld Hotel with very positive overall experience. We found a family-run place giving us a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere: it offered most we were looking for (a comfortable room for 2 adults and 3 children, and an accurate treatment for gluten-free diet) and even something we were not expecting for a three-star (like a small indoor pool with sauna, heated skiboot rack, and both indoor and outdoor kids' playground). Avaliability and quality of gluten-free food was excellent: everything that we were offered, from breakfast to dinner, treats for kids or sandwiches, had an exact counterpart for coeliacs. The room was very clean, only the bathroom was a bit small for 5 (although it had a window). Two ski-areas are within 5 mins from the Griesfeld, with no traffic and parking problem. We tried one (Klausberg) and found it very well organized and suited for families with children. We liked everything, no complaints to make. And we suggest the place to other families with children, who may also find interesting to stay in one of the apartments located across the road (2-3 rooms), with same treatment.

The Griesfeld Hotel was not bad, but the managers were really too keen on cutting back costs, especially about food. This was quite odd because they even try to serve some delicacies (at dinner). Just to mention some episodes, even when we got to breakfast in very early morning (first ones entering the restaurant) we found jars only half-filled with juice (and never refilled...), only a few (low quality factory-made) cake slices, only few rolls, jams very liquid (water added into?), a little ham and cheese and so on. Dinner showed similar concerns: small servings (not really welcomed after a skiing day...), only few rolls (and thinly sliced to make some extra-savings...), they even charged us for fresh water! On the other hand the cook (the hotel owner) tried to serve us some delicacies, but when someone asked a second serving... "Sorry, we run out of it!" (thus meaning they cooked EXACTLY as many servings as many guests they had!!!). Another nuisance was that at Griesfeld we couldn't have dinner "from-to", we had it "at 7.00": I mean that the dinner wasn't served before ALL the guests were sitting in the restaurant, and all the tables had to be "synchronously" served (all the guests had to finish appetizers before "first dish" could be served and so on). Practical result was that we couldn't have any hope to spend less than an hour and a quarter for dinner. And, last but not least, they never replaced any toiletries during our weekly stay. As I've to deal with cutting back costs every day at office, I don't really want to deal with it also on vacation (and most people will likely agree with me, I suppose). P.S.: I frankly wonder which hotel other reviewers have been to.
