Arena Castillo Apartments

Lovely apartment, very clean. There is very little open wardrobe space and no drawers to put clothes into, there is a desk with a chair in bedroom which is of no use would be better with a chest of drawer instead. Small balcony is off the bedroom. Lovely sunbathing areas away from pool. Main concern…. Issues with a lot of black beetles getting everywhere including into apt, contacted reception who said they were harmless and came over with the calima from Morocco. I didn’t like the darker walkways at night into apt as usually many scuttling about. Had to kill some in apt, reception not concerned said they would die soon !! Have just emptied suitcase this morning and found 2 among my clothes !!! Probably due to there being no drawers to put clothes in 🙈

Lovely hotel. Rooms very clean. The entertainment girl Ailbhe was just wonderful. Attentive to adults and kids alike. Took time to know the guests. She is a real asset to your hotel. The waiter at breakfast was also excellent. Very efficient. A bit more fruit/pastry selection would have been nice but you could order food to be made fresh which was nice. The reason I only gave it four stars was for the lack of dining options in the evening. Also our room had an odour. Not overly strong but you got it when you opened the door. But honestly they are minor things. Reception staff were friendly. It’s close to the airport. Overall a good hotel.

Fantastic holiday again in this hotel with a location you cannot fault. We were self catering as visit the resort often and like the freedom to eat and drink out. Our room was spotless with clean towels every day. Kevin on reception was superb and we managed to get a late checkout as unfortunately my partner was ill at the end of the holiday. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing a relaxing break. Hotel bar was also in a great location with heaters and blankets for the cooler night

Really nice hotel located very closely to bars, restaurants and shops including a small supermarket. Beds are comfortable and clean, and the rooms are fresh and spacious. No reserving of sun beds is allowed, which was a big bonus as it’s a pet peeve of mine to see lots of beds reserved with towels for hours with no one using them. We did experience a couple of minor issues during our stay. The first is the lack of storage for clothes in the bedroom. Whilst there is around 10-12 coat hangers, there is literally no drawer space at all and items that couldn’t be hung up had to remain in my suitcase. The bathroom has no shelving around the basin and it’s the same in the shower. Toiletries had to be put on the bathroom floor and the floor of the shower cubicle. We also had no towels left after cleaning on 2 occasions and had to request them from reception. Just minor issues overall though and if these are sorted out I’d have no hesitation giving the hotel a 5* review and would consider staying there again.

The 5 stars is for the hotel accommodation and staff, not necessarily Caleta de Fuste itself. Newly opened last year, this hotel is a small and welcoming complex. Very clean in all areas. Attentive and helpful staff throughout. Special mention to the beautiful Alba for entertainment and Reinaldo for his outstanding cocktails. Understandably there is little in the way of history and culture as it is man-made. A bit too British for me personally. If you walk out right along the coast the other end is more affluent and much prettier. The wind was a lot colder than I anticipated but it was only March! The wild chipmunks were a pleasure to see.
