Arena Castillo Apartments

Combined review as we also stayed in June but forgot to review.....to sum it up in one word 'fantastic' that's why we came back so soon. June was a couples stay, a cheeky week just me and the Mrs. From landing at 10:15 we were checked in, unpacked and round the pool with a beer by 11:45! The room was the right size for 2, although it has a sofa bed and could sleep 4 it would be very close living for a family. Rooms are spotless, fresh and modern. Sunbeds in June were always plentiful. 2nd stay in August with the daughter. At first this hotel wasn't available (probably because the only rooms left were 'couples' rooms) but we held out and by a stroke of luck, fate or just looking at the right time one room came up for the 3 of us. Check in August was as equally smooth but as expected at this busier time the room wasnt quite ready, secure bag drop and reception calls the lead passenger when the room is ready. About 3pm this time, but worth the wait. In my opinion apart from the rooms directly above the restaurant the biggest on the complex 4201 thankyou Arena. Small bathroom next to the main bedroom, living area, kitchen and a full bathroom adjacent with a huge corner balcony. The sofa bed pulls out into a full comfortable double and with the air con been in the living area thats where me and the Mrs slept most nights, fantastic for a family with a teenager! Room equally as clean with regular servicing, we had 1 issue with the main lock, maintenance were sent instantly and it was changed within the hour of reporting. Sunbeds obviously a lot busier, still never failed to get one whenever we wanted. Gates to the pool open at 9am, we let the herd of people queuing get out of the way and stroll down about 9:20, always got 3 beds with a brolley. Reserved beds are also monitored, we witnessed times been attached to beds one day by staff, I think they give you about an hours grace then if someone wants that bed they'll take your towels off. Entertainment staff are great, they'll get you involved if you like that sort of thing. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat here. Drinks reasonably priced. €4 Amstel, with the pool bar and roof terrace also serving cocktails. Can't wait to return.

We just arrived back from arena castillo. Myself, husband and teenage son.It is a beautiful complex. Spotless clean. We were in room 2210. So big. Great air conditioning, everything so new. Comfortable beds. Huge balcony. (Not much of a view ) but still fab. There was 3 bottles of water in fridge when we arrived. Lovely touch. Also tea and coffee sachets. Lovely staff checked us in and the cleaning lady came every day. She was absolutely lovely. Great pool and staff in pool bar so friendly.the roof bar is stunning, staff were so nice up there. Really recommend this place .if im going to be picky I would just say the pool beds being held all day should be stopped. Many days were beds had towels on and no one on them, people had nowhere to sit at pool while beds are empty.. Also very loud generator outside our bedroom window. The rock bar was lovely but on our first night bar man tried to charge my husband for pitchers of beer when he only had pints. Even when my husband went up to him about it he tried to argue point but we did get refunded. But I wouldn't let it stop me going back. Really beautiful spot .in a great location.

We had an amazing stay at Arena Castillo. The hotel is modern and felt really clean throughout. Our room was comfortable and spacious with two balconies and there were lots of lovely little areas dotted around the hotel to relax, including the rooftop terraces. The location is perfect being so close to the beach and some lovely bars and restaurants (we loved our meals out at Fado Rock and the Pickled Palm in particular). It’s really handy having a supermarket across the road and it’s fine to bring your own drinks and snacks around the pool (which is great if you’re on a budget) but the pool bar also offers a range of tasty food options which we felt were good value. I was worried my kids (aged 9 and 6) might get slightly bored with the pool area being smaller than we are used to but Joel and Raoul made our holiday with their fantastic entertainment, which was fun for the whole family. We loved the morning lazy game and free fruit in a morning and free cocktails / ice creams available to be won were a really lovely touch. Joel really took his time to get to know our family and the kids still talk about him daily, he’s a real asset to the hotel. The free sangria, mojito and cocktail making were also brilliant and very generous. The other guests around the pool were mainly English and some Spanish but everyone was really friendly and the kids made some lovely friends. We had an evening flight back but the hotel provided a courtesy room with showers to use before our flight, allowing us to spend a full day round the pool without needing to ask about keeping the room on. I couldn’t fault this place at all, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Arena Castillo to anyone.

Stayed 1st-15th Aug. Group of 9 (4 rooms). Spent much time deciding on which hotel to book; thankfully found a video tour of this one - alongside great reviews - and booked it. We had a fab time. Weather lovely, wonderful staff, great rooms (had two superior and two standard) - good housekeeping (although our floor was only mopped once, but always swept). Joey is a fabulous addition to the hotel with his "lazy" games (he spent time getting to know all guests!) - the perfect level of entertainment (not too in your face & free cocktail making is a fab idea!). Yes, the pool bed issue is a bit silly but they had more beds delivered whilst there & promtly removed towels off unused beds also. My only recommendation would be to have the roof top bar open in the evenings (open day time only) - the cocktails up there are great with fab bar staff too. The layout of this hotel has been so well thought out and is positioned well within the local area. Fusion is worth a visit - across the road. Arena Rock restaurant - great food, but waited ages for our bill. Would absolutely book this hotel again. Our 17 year old is Type 1 diabetic - on the final day, the reception team sorted us a lovely new room as she needed access to a fridge freezer & we were able to check out at 6pm - great service! Myself and family would not consider staying here again, we arrived two weeks ago and had to find ourselves alternative accommodation after five nights. We had a superior room which was supposed to have a sea view, upon opening our patio doors our view was the hyperdino opposite . The air conditioning was faulty which they do know about across the accommodation . The fan in room was starting to come down and was very noisy when it was on. The sink fell off the wall and had to repaired twice, we was informed by the maintenance man the hotel is not completely finished and has been rushed . From a safety perspective the flooring is shocking in parts especially around pool area, many cracks and part tiles missing. The security is very poor, there are many side doors where public can just walk in, including from the arena rock bar. Once we had found alternative accommodation we came back to collect the rest of our suitcases we found that our door was unlocked and that the maids had been in and left our terrace door open into the bedroom. We was not high up any person passing could have easily entered the bedroom. When we mentioned this to the reception they didn't seem bothered at all Finally our daughter is neurodivergent and the whole pool area is cramped, the loud music is constant from early morning to early evening. This was not advertised when we booked it if it was we wouldn't have booked to stay here . This whole complex is expensive and our opinion is that isn't worth the money. Not finished Not Secure Shouldn't be open and not fully advertising the whole complex.
