Paradisus by Melia Fuerteventura

Quite disappointed with our stay. The room (Reserve Horizon) was excellent, clean and tidy and gorgeous view, and that along with the service at the Reserve pool were the only highlights. The big let-down is the food, the menus look great, and presentation of the food was ok, but food was rarely warm and service was haphazard. Kanna - Staff had no idea what menu items were, croquettes were often totally different from what you ordered and the meat dishes were overcooked and served cold, you were served really quickly, so this indicated the food was sat around already cooked. The dessert of grilled pineapple also came as fresh pineapple one day then tinned another day. The Shack - Avoid not only is the food cold its often undercooked. Reserve breakfast - Staff didn't seem to understand what you were ordering even when you pointed to the menu, when asked for 2 poached eggs, it was repeated back as 2 fried eggs - again the theme of cold food continued whenever hot food was ordered, coffee was usually cold and service slow. Mascalzone - This is to the side of the buffet restaurant and there is no ambience at all, you can still hear and see all the hustle of the buffet and often the restaurant was used by buffet customers to sit in larger groups. We had a decent meal on our first night, then on a return visit ordering a different meal it was poor, then on a 3rd visit we ordered the same meal as our first visit (steak) and got a totally substandard meal from the first night, which was also cold. Lemonfish didn't appeal although it looks to have the best ambience to eat in, and Mahos fully booked. Buffet - Awful the food is kept under lamps which have no effect at all so unless you catch the food being replenished you won't get a hot meal. Loud and far too busy, staff try and keep up with drinks but it just feels like a canteen. Service - Inconsistent, across the resort, Ginger bar staff were rude and ignored you if they could and avoided eye contact. We booked a skywalk trip but never heard where to meet or whether the trip was even taking place, when I checked, staff had no idea what I was talking about. Concierge constantly check back if you are ok, but don't take any action when you mention anything to them. The Reserve bar area shuts at 6pm so there are no adult areas, to relax. Ginger was full most days so you couldn't get a comfortable seat and as the weather was cool, for a few nights outdoors wasn't an option. Room - As mentioned lovely room, mini-bar replenished each day and turndown service with gifts and extra towels each day, however, deck chairs on the balcony not at all comfortable. Bed comfy and it was nice and quiet on a night. Reserve pool - Great service by Maria, nice touches each day with snacks and sun-cream. Towels always ready and waiting and plenty of sun-beds, only downside is there is no shelter so this was the windiest option on the resort. It's not somewhere we will return to, which is a shame as its in a peaceful and scenic area and near to some good beaches including Mal Nombre and Morro Jable.

First of all really beautiful location with a fantastic view of the sea and lagoon. Gardens around the big pool are well maintained, and the whole place feels very relaxing. The interior is very nicely done in a modern design with high ceilings and modern furnitures both inside and outside. The rooms were spacious and clean and we got upgraded to a fantastic view of the sea and main big pool, which we really appreciated. The beds were really comfortable. We went as a family with our 3 year old daughter. The kids pools were great as well, and we were very pleased that all the pools were heated. The slides for the kids were well done and super fun. There are several reasons I would only give the overall resort maximum a 4 star rating: 1. The food for families was incredibly limited and quite frankly not more than a 3 star hotel. If you’re just an adult couple there’s plenty of choice and quality 5 star food. BUT if you’re a family with young kids the options are, particularly at dinner, very very limited! Most of the food at the buffet was catered for adults (big salad bars, charcuterie and often fancy seafood). The younger kids options were so disappointing in the buffet and almost did not change for the whole 10 days we were there. It was the same type of pasta with the same tomato sauce, the cheapest highly extra processed sausages I’ve ever seen, or a burger. Sometimes there would be a cheap version of a fish finger or chinger finger, but of very poor quality compared to the adult options of food. Only two nights out of 10 days was there a for example even a simple pizza. Secondly, one of the main reasons we chose the hotel was that they said there would be an Italian restaurant, which attracted us to the resort to avoid having to eat at the buffet every night and Italian food is very popular with our toddler. But it was closed during our stay, due to lower occupancy or the weather. We were then told they would make an Italian inspired corner for some of the nights at the end of our stay instead, which never happened, it was the same one type of tomato sauce, nothing new not even a pizza. So disappointing! The à la carte restaurants menus were too focused on adults, with VERY limited kids choices. And often one of the two or three choices, like fish fingers, were not even available. So you were left with chips and a dry chicken breast or the same pasta with tomato sauce from the buffet. I don’t understand why they at least did not keep the more family friendly Italian à la carte restaurant open, as the other 3 options were mainly just for adults. Kids food just didn’t feel prioritised at all. Again very disappointing as a family on a 10 day holiday. The food at the café Ginger bar was good but took ages to order and arrive. 2. We found the policy of no inflatables in the pools far too strict. I certainly would have thought that inflatables would have been allowed at least in the kids pools, as they are further away from the big main pool and wouldn’t have disturbed the peace of the main bigger pool. Very odd and disappointing for our daughter to not be able to swim with her usual inflatables (which we previously on all other resorts have been able to buy and use at other 4 and 5 start resorts) 3. The playground was tiny, and would have been fun with more choice, especially on the very windy days where it was too cold to go swimming and there wasn’t much else to do. The kids club facilities were quite basic as well compared to other 4-5 star resorts we’ve been. At the end of it all it’s a resort with a beautiful stunning location by the beach and lagoon, with very nicely done interior and exterior design, which made it feel luxurious, even though our experience with the family food choices were very limited. Which is why I would only rate it a 4 star hotel and probably won’t go back as a family. If you’re just an adult couple or have much older kids it’s a really nice hotel though. Just generally feels like it’s an adult hotel rather than a family hotel.

Don't let the fresh decor fool you; this is not a 5-star experience. After five stays with Paradisus, I am shocked by the decline in quality here. We arrived to find no working gym or spa—despite being told otherwise over the phone—and a dining experience that is genuinely difficult to swallow. From inedible buffet food to "premium" restaurants running out of basic menu items, the F&B department is failing. Service is non-existent at the bar, and management’s attempt at an "upgrade" was an insult to our intelligence. We would leave if there were better local options, but for now, we are just counting down the days until we can go home. Total disappointment.

This was our honeymoon! Unfortunately as much as we wanted to love this hotel, it is not a 5 star, the service (although improved as time went on) was terrible, 99% of staff would not smile or speak especially in English as a lot seem to not understand, food was very hit and miss, a lot of the food was quite cold, buffet is not set up to keep things warm, we are very disappointed that we couldn’t eat in the “Michelin” restaurant as we tried to book the day after getting here and couldn’t get in even though the hotel is definitely not at capacity so be warned!! The pizza restaurant has never been opened The ginger cafe at times can take 30-45 mins just to get served for a drink and again a smile goes a very long way, if you arrive with kids be aware the kids club is basically an office room with a few old toys, the staff are nice at the kids club but they do not have the tools to make it amazing! The hotel apparently only opened 8 months ago from a major refurbishment but certain places are falling apart already, showers leak in the rooms and the stage is in a horrendous state, leaking from the roof, then water on the floor to slip on easy, it’s a very half attempt for a refurbishment. The spa is not open and neither are the football/tennis courts that I see on pictures (Will attach photos below) now some good points! room service and replenishments were great! The Al a carte restaurant next to the beach bar was good and that was the first time we had good service 2 days in, receptionists were nice, rooms are lovely!! this is our last day and I thought I should share my thoughts, I saw a sign on the way here saying this hotel was 4 star and it’s definitely nothing more so be careful if you’re paying 5 star prices, there’s only a small town close by so don’t expect a walk to anywhere but we didn’t mind that

We had such a fabulous holiday at this resort. It has definitely raised our bar for all-inclusive holidays! We're a family of four (2 adults, a 4YO and a 1YO). There's a wide variety of food from a 24/7 bar to an adults only (which we, sadly, didn't get to try!) but the food we did have was all fantastic and there was something for everyone. There's a salt water pool - with shallow bits for the kids as well as 2 kiddy pools. One with little slides and one with a bigger tube slide (take floats/armbands for the latter as the lifeguards don't like the kids going down without them!). Everything has been redone quite recently and you can tell - the room felt very fresh and new and they're prepared our room with a travel cot. The staff were exceptionally helpful and there was always someone around to ask if you were stuck. The kids club is available for any age but a parent needs to stay with any kids less than 5. It's in a remote location so best to be organised as there's nowhere to purchase any emergency supplies. It can get windy so would definitely recommend a few decent jumpers (especially for the evenings or afternoons on the beach). Despite the spa currently being rennovated, they had set up one of the rooms as a relaxing temporary spa and I was able to book a massage on our penultimate day. Possibly the best massage I've ever had - thanks Angela! The evening entertainment was also really impressive with some "circus" acts that really blew us away. If I could offer 2 small suggestions to the hotel it would be to add a map to the app/website so it's immediately obvious which floor each restaurant is on and how to get to it (that was a little tricky on the first couple of days) and provide a shop for supplies like toothpaste/suntan lotion/armbands. All the little things people forget and would pay good money for! Otherwise a HUGE thank you for an incredible stay and for looking after us so well.
