We’re coming to the end of our stay at HD Parque Cristóbal Gran Canaria, having visited with my husband, our two children (aged 2 and 5), and my parents, and we’ve had a fantastic holiday. I don’t often give 5-star reviews, but this resort genuinely deserves it. The layout here is ideal - the accommodation feels more like individual villas than hotel rooms, which we found ideal with our kids who shared a room together and everyone was able to get a good night’s sleep. For an all-inclusive resort, the food has been surprisingly good, with plenty of choice and consistently high quality. The whole resort is also exceptionally clean, and it’s clear that the staff work incredibly hard to keep everything looking its best. A special mention has to go to the entertainment team. Every member we met was friendly, enthusiastic and brilliant with the children. I didn’t catch everyone’s names, but Fabio, Jade, Javi and Eric were all outstanding – funny, engaging, full of energy, and fantastic with both children and adults. Their English was excellent, and they really helped make our holiday memorable. Our children especially loved the mini disco and the activities throughout the day. There is so much for families here, including playgrounds, children's activities, sports and entertainment, meaning there is always something to do for both kids and adults. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to start the evening mini disco a little earlier. At 8:15pm it can feel quite late for younger children, and on one evening when it started at 7:30pm it worked particularly well for families. That said, this is a very minor point. Overall, it’s difficult to find much to criticise. We’ve had a really lovely stay and would happily recommend HD Parque Cristóbal Gran Canaria to anyone looking for a family-friendly resort in Gran Canaria.
Had to come on to write a review and I never normally do but this place was amazing. Really exceeded our expectations, while booking online I found the pictures to be very sparce and I wasn't sure, I booked based on the reviews and im so glad I did. We only left twice in the week to go for a walk around because the resort had everything you needed. The kids pools are the best ive seen, clean, safe, spacious and with a adult pool beside the kids pool its great if you have kids with different ages, both the two year old and twelve year old could swim all day and enjoy it. Theres a supermarket attached to the resort, laundrette on site. The bungalows are brilliant, we went with a two bed teen one and it was bigger than we expected. Food each night was great, not one night where we didn't enjoy it and the kids loved everything available to eat. We went all inclusive and for the soft drinks alone it was worth it, plenty of drinks available at the bar the cocktails were great. The main pool at the front also has a kids pool attached its a bit smaller but still done the job. Plenty of sun loungers each day, no fight for a bed. Genuinely the best place we stayed so far, the only negative could give if I had to is the bed sheets werent changed all week, the beds are made but not changed, which with kids can be an issue. Otherwise perfect place to stay, perfect location, staff very friendly. We will definitely be coming back
We stayed at HD Parque Cristobal as a family of 4, with children aged 9 and 4, on a self-catering basis. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here, as it was our first time visiting Gran Canaria. We stayed in Bungalow 10, which had a great location for the splash zone. The rooms were fantastic for families due to the fact that you had your own little patio area with sunbeds, a parasol, and a dining table and chairs. Also, not having to worry about a balcony with young children was a bonus. These were cleaned every day except Sunday, so they remained clean throughout. The pool facilities were fantastic for everyone: a small pool and splash park with slides, and a deeper pool for older children and adults. Also, on the other side of the hotel were another large pool, a jacuzzi bed pool, and a small children's pool. The grounds were kept immaculate, and the staff worked hard maintaining the vast areas of land. We also noticed a botanic garden and some self-growing vegetables in the area. Another small bonus was the zip line, which my eldest child enjoyed on our daily walks around and to the shop, which is also located at the hotel. Sometimes we used an app called Glovo, which is a fast-food delivery service like Just Eat or Uber for those who want to order food; they delivered to the hotel without an issue. One thing we found that could be improved was the late checkout system. We were getting our return transfer at 8 p.m. and would have liked more clarity on being able to keep the room in advance rather than going to reception at 9 a.m. on the day of checking out to find out. Despite emailing the hotel prior to arriving and asking every day, we didn't find out until the morning. Luckily, we got to keep the room until later, which made it very easy for us, but if not, it would have been a very tough last day. I feel like this is the only improvement they need to make this hotel faultless! We would fully recommend this hotel despite the checkout problem, and hopefully, in the not-so-distant future, we will be returning to HD Parque Cristobal.
Fantastic family hotel. Great variety of food and drinks available. Really recommend going half board or all inclusive. The italian restaurant was also brilliant.
First impressions of the hotel were that it looked amazing, and overall we have enjoyed our stay. We are currently on our last day awaiting our transfer home. There are many positives about this hotel. The facilities are excellent, the pools are fantastic, and our 3-year-old absolutely loved both the pools and the mini disco. The hotel is clean, well presented, and clearly geared towards families. It is important to say that throughout our stay all of the staff have appeared hardworking, friendly and helpful. We have no complaints whatsoever regarding the attitude or effort of the team, who have always been pleasant and professional during our interactions. The all-inclusive drinks offering was not the best we have experienced when compared to some other resorts. However, with my partner being pregnant, this was not a major factor for us on this particular holiday and therefore did not significantly impact our overall enjoyment of the stay. At times we found the food a little repetitive, particularly when staying for a longer period. However, this was partly due to our own holiday style on this trip. When we normally stay all-inclusive, we tend to break things up by eating out several times during the holiday. On this occasion, we chose to eat at the hotel every evening as we wanted a completely stress-free holiday where we didn't have to worry about planning meals or deciding where to eat. Whilst the food could become somewhat repetitive, it wasn't a major issue for us and certainly wasn't something that negatively impacted our stay overall. However, on our final day whilst awaiting our transfer home, this is where the major issues started. Up until this point we had very few complaints. Unfortunately, our experience on departure day has significantly changed our overall impression of the hotel and has overshadowed what had otherwise been a pleasant family holiday. As a resort that heavily promotes itself as a family-friendly destination, we were extremely disappointed by the lack of support offered to us on our departure day. After checking out, our 3-year-old toddler and my partner, who is 6 months pregnant, effectively had nowhere comfortable to rest whilst waiting for our transfer. We completely understand that late checkouts cannot always be accommodated and that rooms may be fully booked. However, despite asking every day during our stay and even offering to pay whatever additional charge was required, our request was repeatedly declined. More disappointing was the fact that no alternative solution was offered. We were simply told that we could use the showers in the spa. Whilst this may be the hotel's standard procedure, it is not what we would expect from a hotel that promotes itself towards families. Being directed to shower in the spa with a young child and a pregnant partner felt very impersonal and gave the impression that no effort was being made to assist us. There appears to be no dedicated area where families can comfortably relax, freshen up or spend time before their transfer home. For a hotel that markets itself towards families, we expected there to be some consideration for guests travelling with young children, pregnant partners or those with late departures. Whether that be a hospitality room, a dedicated family lounge, a temporary room extension, or any other reasonable alternative, some effort to assist would have been appreciated. What we found most disappointing was not the refusal itself, but the complete lack of effort to try and help. Throughout our stay there appeared to be no willingness to explore any alternative options or offer any form of compromise. We were simply told no. What makes this even more frustrating is that, on our final day, the hotel and pool areas appear noticeably quieter than they have been at any other point during our stay. Whilst we obviously do not know the room occupancy levels, it has reinforced the feeling that our request was simply dismissed rather than genuinely considered. We had actually been discussing returning next year with a larger group of family and friends, as the hotel ticks many of the boxes we look for in a family holiday. Unfortunately, the whole checkout situation has left a very negative impression. A tired toddler and a pregnant partner having nowhere suitable to rest for several hours before travelling home is not what we expected from a family-focused resort. It wasn't necessarily the refusal of the late checkout itself that was disappointing, but rather the lack of flexibility, understanding and willingness to offer a reasonable alternative. A little customer service in this situation would have gone a long way. Having travelled abroad two or three times a year for many years, this is genuinely the first time we have encountered a situation like this. We have stayed in hotels of all standards and budgets, and there has always been either the option of a late checkout, a hospitality room, a dedicated departure lounge, or some other provision for guests with late flights. Because of this, despite the many positives the hotel has to offer, we unfortunately would not recommend it to families with late departures, nor would we currently consider returning ourselves. That is particularly disappointing because our initial impressions were extremely positive and, for most of our stay, we had been discussing returning next year with a larger group of family and friends. Unfortunately, the complete lack of support, flexibility and consideration shown on our departure day has overshadowed much of what was otherwise a very enjoyable holiday. Therefore, if you have a late flight home, I would strongly recommend considering this before booking. Based on our experience, there appears to be very limited flexibility regarding late checkouts and no suitable facilities for families to comfortably spend their final day after vacating their room. Overall, the hotel has many strengths, including excellent facilities, hardworking staff and plenty for young children to enjoy. Unfortunately, despite those positives, the way our departure day was handled has significantly affected our overall experience. As a family travelling with a young child and a pregnant partner, we expected a little more understanding and support. Sadly, because of this experience, we would not return and would struggle to recommend the hotel to other families with young children or expectant mothers, particularly those travelling on late flights.
