Hotel Costa Calero Thalasso & Spa

Hotel is clean, rooms are pleasant, main restaurant is newly renovated, clean and offers a variety of food, lunch time setting isn’t great and food is a let down. And the rest of hotel needs some major TLC! This is not a child friendly hotel, the activities are mainly for adults unless in children’s club, the kids disco is 21.15 every evening for 15 minutes and the children have to get off dance floor for main entertainment, children entertainers don’t like children 😝 well that’s what she told us but like certain ones they click with 🙄, staff are not friendly and when I complained about children’s entertainment being so late the for only 15 minutes the young receptionist got funny with me!! There is no indoor pool don’t be mislead by the website there is a pool in the spa but only children who are 4 plus can use it, and only at certain times in the day the rest is adults only , the pools are NOT heated to the temperature they say, and you can only use A La Carte resturant if your are prestige all inclusive. Not going to lie the amount I paid for this holiday It did not hit our expectations, I have never written a review before but felt like the reviews before are from couples only, this is a true family review!

Overall I would say it was good, with some excellent points & unfortunately, some very bad points. The rooms are great but would benefit from tea & coffee facilities which they dont have. The food was very good, but the dinning area was extremely crowded & manic. Not enough coffee machines & half of those didnt work! The snacks between meals were an absolute disgrace & they would do better to not offer any snacks at all! Just stone cold & hard burgers in a dry bun & left over cakes. The various bars open & close at various times making it hard to keep track of where you need to be to get a drink. The bars are also under staffed meaning long queues each time. General maintenance is lacking. Lots of missing tiles, cracked floors & shabby looking areas. The spa is excellent! Its probably the best thing about the hotel. Evening entertainment was very low quality. Various daily activities give it a butlins feel unfortunately adding nothing to the hotel experience. The location is good & chilled out. The marina area is lovely.

All in all we had a lovely time at the Costa Calero hotel. The room was very clean, and the one that we had requested. Unfortunately, halfway through the week, we had a very noisy family with a child stay next door to us - they would come in very late and sit on the balcony shouting and hollering and then carry on the noise level in the room. Moving furniture, etc. My husband politely asked them on the balcony to keep the noise down as it was midnight and they were extremely rude to him. We didn't say anything to reception as I have to say we felt slightly intimidated. . It has put us off returning next year - we have been running for 4 years in March.

Had 1 week all inclusive prestige, double garden room superior. Unfortunately we had cloudy weather but the hotel was lovely. Rooms comfortable, roomy and very clean. Prestige package was amazing but the al a carte night was let down by not having a wine choice and just serving glasses from already open bottles of wine. The food in buffet was nice , could have been a little warmer but tasty. Not a great variance night on night but enough to have something different as a main dish. Need to be aware room doors don't always shut and maids often left them slightly ajar after cleaning. The prestige lounge was a fab addition and pools kept clean although too cold for us to swim this holiday. Location is short walk to marina but steep 10 mins incline on return. Didn't use spa or take part in daytime activity. Night entertainment ok but piano bar entertainment was best , but as the weather cold and outside area not being used not enough seating .
