My fourth visit to this hotel. Whilst there have been a few cost cutting changes in recent years I still think that overall, despite staff issues detailed below, it has enough good points to consider it and still represents good value. PRESTIGE I stayed on All Inclusive Prestige basis which I felt was worth the extra cost. Disappointed that no longer a dedicated Prestige check in desk. I enjoyed the daily access to the spa which is lovely. I enjoyed the a la carte dinner in Puntal restaurant. Although the Club Prestige lounge was officially adult only, on several occasions there were young teenagers playing noisily and crying baby. I did report this to the waiter clearing the glasses in lounge but he appeared not to understand Spanish or English. I mentioned it to reception but no action was taken. BARS/RESTAURANTS I liked the quieter Prestige area in the refurbished Matalanas restaurant at breakfast and dinner and appreciated being able to order bottles of decent wine as part of Prestige package (although my favourite wines Yaiza and Bermejo were out of stock). Although bottles of decent wine are available in Oyambre restaurant, guests have to queue at bar to order and then walk through restaurant with ice bucket and glasses and find a table. Apart from the Asian themed dinner, which was dreadful, I enjoyed the food. The only "hot" food I ate was the freshly cooked to order omelette at breakfast and cooked fresh fish and meat at dinner which was good quality. Other "hot" food was unappetising and lukewarm. The piano bar is looking tired and shabby and in need of tlc. Sadly, there is no longer waiter table service in the bars. I really did not like having to queue for drinks at bar and then, drinks in hand, looking around for an empty table. Often the tables were covered in dirty used glasses. I was disappointed that there is now live music on only four nights in piano bar. I did visit the show bar on two occasions but it was spoiled by the large number of small children running around. POOLS The cascada pool was monopolised on several afternoons by massive inflatables that meant it was very noisy and unusable for any other guests. STAFF/MANAGEMENT Most of the staff are friendly and professional. Special mention to Claudio and Anniel in restaurant, José Carlos, Javier and Jesus in piano bar and Elda and Violetta in Oyambre restaurant. On previous visits the General Manager, Eduardo Miquel and the senior management team were very much in evidence around the hotel and overseeing operations. However, this time this was definitely not the case. I understand that the General Manager was on holiday but not one member of senior management was visible anywhere throughout the week. Unfortunately, the reception staff were not at all welcoming and some very obviously in need of training. Bizarrely, in Lanzarote, a number of them seemed not to understand Spanish. Prior to my visit I had emailed the hotel requesting a quiet non connecting room. On my last visit I had been allocated a connecting room and it was like sharing a room with the neighbours, every little noise was audible through the flimsy door. On that occasion my neighbour was a family member so it didn't really matter. However, if this were not the case it would be unbearable. On arrival I was allocated room 180 on ground floor next to spa directly in front of the machinery room. The noise was awful, like being in a ship's engine. I immediately returned to reception. A more experienced and helpful receptionist changed me to room 166. This room was still quite noisy and before using the room I asked if there was anything else available. I was prepared to pay extra for a room upgrade. At this point I was directed to Guest Relations. I spoke to Steffi who appeared to be very inexperienced in the role. She was quite ineffectual and merely grimaced and was unable to help. She summoned Manuela whose manner was brusque, unpleasant, unhelpful and certainly unfriendly. She informed that paying for an upgrade was not possible but I could change to another room of same category the following day but at a cost of €40 for cleaning of room. Having spoken to other guests, who for whatever reason, were unhappy with their rooms, they changed without any cost. I felt that I was being singled out by Manuela who treated me as though I were a nuisance rather than a returning guest. I asked to speak to a manager but was repeatedly told by Manuela that this was not possible. In my opinion neither Steffi nor Manuela are suited to a Guest Services role. On my return home I emailed the hotel and requested that they comment on the issues with Guest Relations. I did not receive any response. If a senior manager had bothered to speak to me whilst I was actually at the hotel or if I had received a response from my email I would have scored the hotel higher and would not have detailed the appalling behaviour of Guest Relations on this platform..........

Having visited this hotel on a number of occasions some years ago and finding it excellent we decided to return again at the end of June 2026. The good bits. 1. Hotel itself still has that 4 star look. 2. Ana the maid of our room was brilliant. 3. Food and cleanliness as good as we remembered it. The BAD bits. Standards have slipped dramatically when it comes to staff and service and NOT what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Observations showed very little respect for customers with surly and uncooperative bar and dining staff. 1. No monitoring of dress code for meals in the evening. Dress code NONE existent despite website plainly stating otherwise. 2. Restaurants have a motorway cafe feel with no waiter interactions. Staff appear NOT to want to be there. Just waiters clearing tables sometimes before people had finished eating/drinking and in our case during a meal. 3. Inability of management to ensure tables in piano bar are regularly cleared of empty glasses. My wife had to physically clear a table of empties before we could put our drink down. 4. Long queues at bars to get a drink, sometimes blocking view of entertainment. In the past this hotel had plenty of staff clearing glasses and taking orders but dreadful now. 5. Barman at pool bar managed to throw a full glass of rum and Coke down me. Appreciate accidents do happen but then to not acknowledge the fact with a simple 'sorry' said. "Do you want another one?" Incredible. 6. Took my wife 2 days to get pool towels after visiting both pool bars twice and reception 3 (THREE) times before refusing to move from reception without the said towels. 7. No consistency with staff checking room cards at lunchtime. We were asked twice over the week to show we had all inclusive access at the restaurant. It was EASY for anyone on half board to simply walk into the buffet restaurant at lunchtime and help themselves to a 'free' meal. Something we had paid for! 8. Despite paying a 4* price we found that we had to pay an additional cost (on arrival) for a safe deposit box and unlike any other 4* hotel we have stayed at there was no tea/coffee making facilities unless you paid for PRESTIGE or paid a refundable deposit to hire a kettle. Cups and saucers had to be fetched from the pool bar. 9. Distinct lack of cutlery at restaurants with guests continually asking for spoons, knives and forks. Summary. It is our conclusion that this hotel is plying its trade on its past history. The owners and opperations have CLEARLY reduced staff and aren't at all interested in offering a 4* service. They appear to be expecting the customers to accept poor quality and ultimately reduce standards and pay whatever the cost without a challenge. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN BOOKING THIS HOTEL. WE CERTAINLY WON'T BE RETURNING!
