Hotel Costa Calero Thalasso & Spa

All in all we had a lovely time at the Costa Calero hotel. The room was very clean, and the one that we had requested. Unfortunately, halfway through the week, we had a very noisy family with a child stay next door to us - they would come in very late and sit on the balcony shouting and hollering and then carry on the noise level in the room. Moving furniture, etc. My husband politely asked them on the balcony to keep the noise down as it was midnight and they were extremely rude to him. We didn't say anything to reception as I have to say we felt slightly intimidated. . It has put us off returning next year - we have been running for 4 years in March.

Had 1 week all inclusive prestige, double garden room superior. Unfortunately we had cloudy weather but the hotel was lovely. Rooms comfortable, roomy and very clean. Prestige package was amazing but the al a carte night was let down by not having a wine choice and just serving glasses from already open bottles of wine. The food in buffet was nice , could have been a little warmer but tasty. Not a great variance night on night but enough to have something different as a main dish. Need to be aware room doors don't always shut and maids often left them slightly ajar after cleaning. The prestige lounge was a fab addition and pools kept clean although too cold for us to swim this holiday. Location is short walk to marina but steep 10 mins incline on return. Didn't use spa or take part in daytime activity. Night entertainment ok but piano bar entertainment was best , but as the weather cold and outside area not being used not enough seating .

We stayed here for 4 nights.. Thursday to Monday. Hotel is very nice, breakfast was basic buffet. We were half board and swapped one day to lunch at a supplement of €5 per person, not sure why lunch would be more expensive than dinner?? Lunch was basic school canteen so we didn’t go back. We ate in the marina every night as there are beautiful restaurants there. The weather was terrible on our visit so we used the spa on two days, again at an extra charge. We would have appreciated water in our room, but it wasn’t provided. I would imagine the hotel would be great in high season as there are plenty of pools and sun loungers but unfortunately we didn’t get to use them.. I didn’t find any of the staff particularly friendly.

Just back from a 9 day break, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has undergone some modernisation since our last visit, particularly in the main restaurant, which is looking great! The food was varied and tasty despite other reviews saying it was bland, however some of the food could have been a little warmer but nothing to worry about. We had a superior sea view room on the 4th floor which was more than adequate for our needs and the sleep quality was good as most guests are in bed by 11.00pm! The majority of staff were great, however some of the restaurant waiters didn’t seem too happy in their work. The hotel is maintained to a high standard and kept clean in all areas. We were on the AI deal which is great value for money, however the restaurants and bars in the marina are also very good and worth a visit. We will be back again sometime in the near future.

Stayed :18th February – 25th February 2026 Room type :Superior Double with Sea View My wife and I recently stayed at the Hotel Costa Calero. While the hotel is physically beautiful, our experience was a mix of high standards and a somewhat "sterile" atmosphere. The hotel is kept to an impeccable standard. Our room was spotless with a very comfy bed, and the sea view we paid for in our Superior Double was well worth it. Every staff member we encountered was polite and professional, particularly the dining team. Meal times were not stressful at all, which may have been due to the time of year, but it made for a very relaxed experience. * Sometimes at breakfast there were no coffee cups or tea pots due to the high volume of people and slow response* Additionally, the bar service was quick and the drink quality was good. I also want to mention a standout personal touch: the management left a nice note and a bottle of fizz on ice in my room for my birthday. It was an unexpected surprise and very much appreciated. For those traveling with children, the kids' pool was heated slightly, while the others remained quite cold. Despite the professionalism and these kind gestures, the hotel felt a bit sterile and overly managed. The "All-Inclusive" experience felt quite restricted compared to other Lanzarote resorts that I've stayed at. A major disappointment was the lack of dining variety; the hotel doesn't offer any other restaurants other than the main buffet areas. While the food quality is good, the lack of an à la carte option or themed eatery made the experience feel a bit repetitive for a week-long stay. The bars also operate on a very strict schedule—the pool bar closes at 6:00 PM exactly as the piano bar opens. There are vast, beautiful seating areas inside the main building, but they sit empty possibly because there is no coffee or cake shop to enjoy during the day. It felt like a waste of lovely space. We later realised that a "Prestige" tier exists for a significant extra cost, which suggests the standard AI is a "lite" version of the holiday we were looking for. Prestige customers after paying twice for all inclusive got premium drinks, rooms , a lounge etc. Frustrations: Signposting: Finding outdoor toilets was a struggle as there only seemed to be two areas for the entire exterior. Communication: We were not notified about the ongoing building works at the big pool during our February stay. Main Pools: Cold and underused because of it. The Verdict: If you value a quiet, impeccably clean, and professional environment, you will like it here. However, if you want to be "spoiled for choice" with various bars and eateries throughout the day, you may find this hotel runs a bit too tight a ship for a true "all-inclusive" pleasure. -
