Hurawalhi Resort Maldives

Our stay at Hurawalhi Island Resort was absolutely fantastic. This was actually our second stay at the resort — we spent a week here last year and had such an incredible time that we knew we wanted to return. Unfortunately we never wrote a review after that first trip, so we’re happy to finally rectify that after another wonderful stay. The island itself is stunning — powder-white sand, crystal clear water, and beautifully maintained grounds that make every walk around the island feel like a postcard. It somehow manages to feel both luxurious and relaxed at the same time. Even though the resort was close to full capacity at times during our stay, it never once felt crowded, which really added to the sense of calm and escape. We stayed in an overwater pool bungalow, which was a highlight in itself. We would often snorkel directly off our deck in the morning and then reward ourselves with a late-afternoon lounge in our private pool. It quickly became our favourite daily routine. The snorkelling around the island was excellent. The house reef is full of marine life and easy to access from many points around the island. During our swims we were lucky enough to see reef sharks, turtles, octopuses, eagle rays, sting rays and even a manta ray, along with an incredible assortment of colourful fish. Every outing felt like a new discovery. We also joined the turtle tour led by Nico, which was a fantastic experience. We were lucky enough to spend time snorkelling with several green sea turtles, and one of them was enormous — Nico mentioned it was about as large as they can get, which made the encounter even more memorable. The food and drinks were also a highlight throughout our stay. Breakfast in particular was excellent, with a generous buffet alongside talented chefs preparing many dishes to order. There was also a fresh juice station and a chef preparing an assortment of beautiful local fruits, which was the perfect way to start the day. Casual lunches at JFK were consistently delicious, and dinner at Kashibo was absolutely worth it — both for the beautiful view over the water as the sun sets and the delicious Asian-inspired dishes. The buffet lunches and dinners were also excellent, with a wide variety of offerings that could easily accommodate different dietary preferences. The resort has some wonderful spots to relax as well. The pool bar sits right oceanside and was a great place to unwind during the day, while the Champagne Pavilion quickly became one of our favourite places to catch the sunset with a drink in hand. What really made the experience special, though, was the staff. Everyone was warm, welcoming and genuinely attentive. A special mention to Casmir at Coco Bar, who somehow remembers everyone’s names and drink preferences. More than that, he is a genuinely lovely human — he goes above and beyond and truly makes you feel like a welcomed friend rather than just a guest. Haskko at Canneli was also fantastic: friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about creating great experiences. One day he took us out snorkelling and even dove down deep to capture an incredible video of a turtle for us — a moment we’ll definitely remember. Our trip also ended up being unexpectedly extended due to cancelled flights related to the conflict in the Middle East. What could have been stressful turned into a smooth experience thanks to the resort team. Our island host, Afrah, was especially helpful in supporting us to rebook our extended stay and arrange a new seaplane transfer. We ended up staying an extra three nights — not exactly the worst place in the world to be “stuck.” Overall, it was another incredible stay in an extraordinary setting. We left relaxed, well fed, and already talking about when we might come back

We spent an unforgettable stay at Hurawalhi Island Resort and it truly exceeded our expectations. What we loved most about Hurawalhi is that it is adults-only. The island feels peaceful, private, and very romantic. It is perfect for couples who want to relax and enjoy nature without crowds. Our overwater villa was beautiful and very comfortable. Waking up every morning with the ocean view right in front of us was incredible. The food was also excellent. The main restaurant had a great variety and very high quality for a buffet. We also loved the Asian restaurant Kashibo, which had amazing flavors and a beautiful sunset view. The highlight of the trip was dining at the 5.8 Undersea Restaurant. One of the things we loved the most was the snorkeling directly in front of the restaurant area. The house reef there is amazing and full of marine life. Every time we went into the water we saw something new colorful fish, reef sharks, and even rays. It felt like swimming in a natural aquarium. Another magical moment was seeing dolphins passing by near the villas and the restaurant. Watching them from the island was such a special experience and made the stay even more memorable. We saw also a lot of dolphines during Sunset Cruise. The staff were extremely kind and attentive throughout our stay. Everything felt very well organized, from the seaplane transfer to the service at the restaurants and villas. Hurawalhi is a wonderful place if you are looking for a romantic and relaxing Maldives holiday with great food, beautiful villas, and a peaceful atmosphere. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it for couples or honeymoon trips.

Our honeymoon at Hurawalhi was an absolute dream from start to finish. We stayed in an Ocean Pool Villa for the first leg of our trip, and the experience was truly magical; waking up to those endless blue views and being able to snorkel straight from the deck or simply lounge in our private pool was perfection. The breakfast choices were unbelievable, and we had such a relaxing time eating by the sea while occasionally watching eagle rays swim past. We made the most of the incredible excursions, swimming with nurse sharks, turtles, and mantas, which were once-in-a-lifetime moments. The private dinners on the beach were stunning, and spending half a day on Dream Island was a standout experience. We also had a go at some watersports, and the Seabobs are an absolute must! A huge, special thanks goes to our host, Zayan. He was incredibly friendly, always there to help, and truly made our stay feel personal and special. The whole experience was magical and we already cannot wait to go back!

We have just come away from the most incredible stay at Hurawalhi. Jihane, our island host, was wonderful at every point and made our experience really memorable and special. The house reef was one of my favourite parts, we snorkelled every day and saw everything from turtles, octopus, every type of fish, corals and rays. We did an amazing manta ray trip where we got to swim with 4-5 manta rays and saw dolphins on the way. The food was wonderful, with a huge variety and always freshly made, the service was brilliant and facilities kept clean and beautiful. We ended up being able to stay in both a beach and water villa and both were amongst the top places we have stayed ever. The beds were incredibly comfortable and cleaned daily. It goes without saying the views, pool, sunsets, clean beaches were everything you’d hope for in a stay at the Maldives. I cannot recommend this resort enough. I hope we get the chance to return again in the future.

This was our 5th visit in the past three years. Living in the USA it is not easy to get there, but we find it worth it. We do not like buffets as rule but theirs is amost like alacarte. The quality if fabulous and the service incredible amazing. Everything fresh and made to your taste. The service by the staff is better than any Ritz Carlton or Four seasons we have been to. Anise, Windi, Ali, Casmire and the bar manager Tushar were all EXCEPTIONAL!! Also the food and resturant manager, Harsha we very responsive to any of our requests. Its a great team and had great leadership from the property manager Bahauddeen. He is the first person you meet when you arrive and the last you say goodbye to. We were stranded there an extra few nights because our flights we canceled because of the war in Iran. Budau was very gracious accommodating us a few extra nights and kept us aware of the Male airport status. Also need to mention with Hurawalhi you get a 1st class meet & greet in male, escorted to an executive waiting longe while you wait for your sea plane. HUGE value. Hurawalhi is just like home to us.
