Fantastic Hotel, went April 17th 2026 had a superior room on the 6th floor room 631 fantastic loverly room tea and coffee facilitys ,wounderful view across the water to Valletta, staff all loverly , breakfast so much choice. Just a 5 min walk from hotel can get on a ferry takes you across to Valletta. Had a wounderful time so much so have booked for April 2027 and have requested the same room on our holiday booking.thanks Sandra.

Stayed at Barceló Fortina Malta last month for my birthday trip and honestly couldn’t have picked a better hotel. The location is perfect — right in Sliema within walking distance to loads of shops, restaurants and with a shopping centre just outside the hotel which was really convenient. One of the biggest highlights was the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered was genuinely friendly, welcoming and always acknowledged you with a hello or offered help. It really made the hotel feel warm and luxurious. The facilities were also excellent. The gym was great, and the indoor pool area was lovely with a built-in jacuzzi which was really relaxing after long days exploring Malta. Another really nice touch was the beach club located outside the hotel. I believe it’s run separately, but hotel guests are allowed to use the sun loungers free of charge for around 5 hours a day, whereas other visitors have to pay. Small detail, but it definitely added value to the stay. The only thing I will say the staff at the beach club could be a bit more attentive. However, lovely breakfast and cocktails. Housekeeping was incredibly impressive too. You receive room service twice a day — the standard clean during the day and then an evening turndown service where they check if you need anything else, remake the bed and even leave chocolates on the pillows. It felt very high-end. What impressed me most was the attention to detail for my birthday. I never mentioned to the staff that it was my birthday, so I assume they noticed from my passport details. We came back to the room to find a beautifully presented birthday cake waiting for me with “Happy Birthday” written on it. It genuinely made my day and is something I’ve never experienced at a hotel before unless I’d specifically mentioned a special occasion. The cake itself was also amazing and tasted as good as it looked. Overall, an amazing stay and I would absolutely return and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Malta.

Had the most fantastic 10 days in the Fortina. We went for a belated 50th wedding anniversary. The staff are brilliant nothing is too much for them. They even left us a cake and some wine to celebrate. The hotel is extremely clean. We stayed for B&B and the breakfast was well thought out for all the different nationals there.

Do not book this hotel. From day one we were told that you had to prebook your sunbeds a day in advance. The hotel does not have its own pool!! The hotel shares the pool with a beach club. You are told where to sit and the staff are very unhelpful if you ask to move to another location due to the umbrellas being cemented into the ground and need a shaded area. When booking this hotel you are not told that the pool is owned and operated by a beach club. Its clearly a money spinner and the hotel guests are treated like second rate citizens making the whole experience un-enjoyable. We would not have chosen this hotel if we were made aware of this. Our holidas has been ruined by this. If you want to sit in another area they will charge you 80 euros to do so.

I loved everything except the shared pool area that needs to be booked either for am or Pm. Felt like second class citizen as we are hotel guests and not paying customers. The room was fantastic and the view was exceptional. The gym was also fantastic, best I have used on holiday. Pool area lets i down for me .
