Barceló Fortina Malta

Happy to have experienced this hotel and already planning to return. Good location. Helpful & experienced staff.

The hotel is well situated for getting around Malta.Its worth booking a sea facing room for a great view across the harbour towards Valletta. The hotel itself is very comfortable,huge bed,great shower,silent air con and lovely toiletries. The room was kept spotless by the cleaning ladies.Water replaced daily which is nice.The breakfast choices are everything you could wish for and the staff are without exception helpful and friendly. The only criticism is the pool,as I noticed on other reviews! The staff were the worst we came across, rude and really slow to serve you.They are obviously not keen on the hotel guests for some reason.We had been warned that they would direct to the worst sun beds and indeed they did on the first day.The hotel advertises the beautiful pool area and we were really disappointed to be treated so poorly here.We were not made aware at the time of booking that we would need to reserve 24 hrs in advance. Fortunately it wasn't too busy when we were there but I would imagine it's a problem in high season.

I had a business stay from a Sunday to Wednesday. The hotel is very close to the office in Sliema so it was a perfect location. I did get to try the outdoor pool on the evening I arrived which was a nice treat. Otherwise I only got to use the breakfast buffet each morning and it was excellent. High quality food and good coffee. Very friendly, professional and efficient staff throughout the hotel, from reception, to housekeeping and catering staff.

Worst Barcelo hotel and I’m still here!!!! I’m currently here with my husband because we use this chain no matter where we go as they’re always good!! I’ll rephrase I THOUGHT they were ALL GOOD! Boy did I get that wrong! Look I requested a balcony with a view as it’s a special holiday, we’ve paid £1800.00 for this place for 7 days! B&B My view is a block of offices and no way could we sit out anyway as it’s in a wind tunnel so blowy as s… also building work noise… my friends are down the road in the bay view ( it’s in the Title) fabulous for so much cheaper and they’ve got unbelievable views! This holiday is for my husbands 60th (they seen it on passport in check in)so it’s special. Been to Barcelo in fuertaventura, Spain, Malaga, fuengirola Tenerife etc Lanzarote and they’re amazing this hotel has left such a bad experience, I’m done never again will I stay with them. I’m so tempted to move down the road to a cheaper place as our friends are having a ball! Word of advice just because it’s a chain doesn’t mean it will be as good as other hotels in the chain! Will never make the same mistake again! Seriously there are better hotels do your research before you book! We’re away again twice in next three months and I’ll never book Barcelo again, 60th birthday ruined, I’ll make it up to my hubby on next trip.

This hotel is in a fantastic location with stunning views across to Valetta. The hotel is beautifully appointed and the staff are very friendly. The breakfast choice was fantastic and all the food delicious. I agree that the staff at Manta aren’t very friendly towards hotel guests unless you are ordering food and you do have to chase them to order a drink, but I found the pool area nice. I actually liked it around the corner as the music was too loud around the pool to talk and it’s easy to go in the sea from the hotel area.
