Riu Latino

Just returned after a fabulous two weeks at the Riu Latino food fantastic a la carte restaurant fantastic. Cleanliness superb service great special mention to Samantha PR manager who couldn’t do enough for you to make sure you enjoyed your holiday. Would I go again definitely

The views from the rooms are wonderful, the atmosphere is fun and friendly. The rooms are basic but nice, one of the few complaints are the beds, they are not the most comfortable in the world. The value to us seems very good. The rooms and the rest of the hotel and grounds are kept immaculately clean. The one real complaint for us is the food. The buffet is just okay. The Milan is pretty good (best steak at the resort) the Kulinarium is quite good if you are a bit experimental. The steak house and the Geisha we thought left a lot to be desired. The pools and bars are a bit crowded but for the most part there is enough room for everyone and the staff is WONDERFUL and hard working!

Excellent choice for a resort!!!! I would highly recommend taking a private transfer to the resort. It’s so much better. We have never done it before and would recommend a 10out of 10. The resort itself is absolutely stunning! And the food, Staff, drinks, rooms and the beach is absolutely breathtaking! We stayed for a week. One thing that was awesome. Was we seen a gentleman that was handicapped using a walker that wanted to go to the beach so bad. The hotel staff got a John Deere tractor to take him to the beach. However, that wasn’t conducive for his legs. So they went and got a wheelchair and they took him to the beach so he could sit on the beach all day. I have never seen that at any of the resorts we’ve stayed at and we have been to probably 25 different resorts. The Staff there is phenomenal. The staff here was amazing! From the bartenders and each of the bars, the weight staff the housekeeping in the bathrooms around the pool area and lounges were constantly kept clean. I mean constantly. That is so important to us. I would highly recommend going to this resort 10 out of 10. We will be back again thank RIU Latino for an amazing vacation. We are repeat RIU resort guest. And this had to be one of our ultimate favorites. We’ve been to numerous places in Mexico in Jamaica, staying at these resorts and other ones, but they always seem to be one of our favorites. Great job RIU Latino! We love you!

First and most importantly, you get almost what you pay for. This trip was cheap for this time of year and it showed. BYOP— bring your own pillow. They’re truly the most abysmal excuses for bedding… we even ordered extras and it was still a terrible sleep on a very hard bed. The towel system between beach towels and bathroom towels is basically Hunger Games-esque. You get cards for beach towels and are treated poorly if you dare ask for another because you’re cold. Two bathroom towels— we requested more so we had two each and instead of replacing all of them, they kept only giving us two. So honestly, just bring your own extra beach towel and bath towel if that’s necessary for you. Bathroom has basically no amenities for a five star hotel. The shampoo is an “all in one” which is fine for the men who shower with Dawn Dish Soap but for women, this may not be what you need. There’s no lotion, shower caps. The shower was amazing though! Just don’t mind the mildew on the glass 🥲 What I can say really stood out about the room was the air conditioning. I vacation in Mexico 1-2 times every year and this by far was the best. Be mindful of that though because the blankets are awful. You know what— just throw the whole bed and linen system out and try again, Riu. Food was ok. À la carte restaurants are first come first serve, we tried the Asian and it was basically a Chinese buffet with other Asian styles. We ended up just using the main buffet all week which has decent selections for all meals. Pepes by the pool had amazing French fries. We had no do not disturb sign which made it very annoying when you were changing and housekeeping just walked in if they couldn’t hear you answer. Speaking of housekeeping, they did a nice job— listened when I asked them not to put decorative pillows and the runner back on (there were suspicious stains on them and I know they don’t wash those). Refilling our mini bar also apparently wasn’t an option— I’m a basic girl who just needs her Diet Pepsi and it was ignored :,( The beach is beautiful but holy walk through deep sand. It’s no handicap friendly at all, so beware if you have mobility issues. There’s no amenities down there either so if you need a drink or restrooms, prepare to hike back. The pool closest to the water slide is the quietest and handicap friendly with a ramp. Be aware though if you are in the chairs closer to the beach, the smoking area is right behind you and it smells AWFUL. Speaking of the pool, be very careful with their loungers— many are broken. They’re super uncomfortable and many umbrellas are just missing. All in all, it’s a budget party atmosphere “5-star.” We had a nice week and got out of the cold but I will never again return here and overall remain unimpressed with the Riu collection after utilizing Catalonia, Secrets, and Iberostar.

We had the most amazing time at Riu Latino. The hotel was impeccable, always very clean and service was the best. Every single interaction with staff was special - from Aaron being so sweet at reception, to every single waitress (especially Consuelo, and Candy), the bartenders (especially Mike at the tequila bar), all the cleaning and entertainment team, and the photography team (Luis really made our time more special and they helped us register the most beautiful photos to remember our babymoon forever). The food was always delicious, we had time to try all six restaurants and even repeat our favorites. We highly recommend staying at Riu Latino to all our friends and family, and will definitely come back and also explore some of the other hotels from this group.
