Riu Ventura

We recently stayed at the Riu Ventura and came away with mixed feelings about the experience. The positives first: this is a beautiful new resort with modern facilities and a very clean, well-maintained property. The resort features five pools, five à la carte restaurants, plenty of entertainment options, and a fun atmosphere. Our room was fully stocked and had all the amenities you would expect from a Riu property. Most importantly, the staff were outstanding—friendly, hardworking, and always willing to help. Unfortunately, there were several issues that significantly impacted our stay. On our first night, a violent incident occurred in the room above us. The guests completely destroyed their room, and we had to contact security multiple times throughout the evening. While this was obviously beyond the resort’s control, it made for a very unsettling start to our vacation. For the remainder of the trip, noise continued to be a problem. We could hear guests walking and moving furniture in the room above us late into the night, which appears to be more of a building construction issue than isolated guest behaviour. We could also hear road traffic throughout the night from our room. Dining was generally acceptable, but the steakhouse was by far the worst meal we’ve had at any Riu property. It was a major disappointment compared to the rest of the resort’s offerings. The beach was another letdown. Due to the significant seaweed situation affecting the region, it was largely unswimmable during our stay. I do want to recognize Carlos, the resort manager, who was extremely apologetic and considerate regarding our concerns. The staff genuinely did everything they could to address the issues, even though many of them were outside their control. Overall, Riu Ventura is a clean, beautiful, budget-friendly resort with a lively party atmosphere and a convenient location. If you’re looking for an affordable all-inclusive with modern facilities and plenty of entertainment, it may be a great fit. For us, however, the noise issues, beach conditions, and overall crowd atmosphere mean we would not return.

Could do better on the food buffet but overall was a very nice good experience and I look forward to coming again

Wow wow wow this was the best holiday we've had so far. Our normal destinations are Turkey, Cyprus, Tenerife but this was our first holidays without the kids and its going to be one of top destinations to return to. Hotel was amazing, food was great and plenty of choice, staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for you. The location was great only 15min taxi ride out of Cancun itself. Beachfront was out of this world and pool area was fabulous. Highly recommend it. The only disappointing thing for me was the steak house restaurant. We booked as you have to. Got seated and was served with bread straight away and our starters. We were forgotten about for 45 mins after our starters. We told a young waiter that our main order hadnt been taken. He took the order but didnt put it in. The orginal waiter realised he hadnt been to us and took our order. So by now we had waited over an hour for our main to arrive. When it arrived it was the worst steak ive ever had. Thin and nothing but fat a few wedges on the side a tomato and veg. We were so disappointed we got up and left without desert and went to the buffet. Other than that the buffet area was lovely. Oh and the asian restaurant too highly recommend there.

I went to Riu Ventura on a last minute trip for relaxation and very much enjoyed myself. My room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. All staff were very helpful and polite. I am sad that the 6th floor pool was closed for maitenance during my entire stay, but other than that, everything was good. The food was decent, better than other All Inclusives I have been to before. Not excellent, but decent.

This hotel is rather new as it opened in late 2025. Upon check-in, you will be given a red bracelet that must be worn at all times as they remove it once you check out. You aren't allowed to keep it, they take it back. We personally didn't receive a welcome drink but did see on other days, other guests had this. They took our luggage in the lobby until our room was ready. House keeping was amazing! Every morning we went to breakfast (there's only one restaurant for this) and our room was always taken care of by the time we got back. We also had two different surprises on our bed during our stay which was adorable! Eating the same breakfast buffet can become boring after 3+ mornings. I really wish they had churros more often and that they had offered it during lunch/dinner. The wait staff does a good job at taking your plates away and refilling your drinks. All the staff was pretty friendly. Not everyone speaks English but in most areas, it's not an issue at all. One morning the hotel had coffee/hot chocolate/tea in the lobby but not others (not sure why). Some desserts have no flavor at all but there was plenty of natural and healthy fruit to choose from and even ice cream with cones to scoop. There are plenty of food options but if you're picky, you may end up eating the same thing for many days. I can't comment on the other restaurants except for the steakhouse and sports bar. I highly recommend that you book a reservation for the steakhouse as soon as you arrive because we had to wait 3 days for ours and they are only open for 3 hours a night. You must do this via the app so make sure you download it. The Sports Bar is pretty chill, has some nice booths to sit in. Though it makes no sense why it costs $2.00 to play pool. Since it's inclusive, the pool table really should be included. A big highlight was the Michael Jackson Impersonator. They did a wonderful show! I checked and see that they don't have this as an option for guests each week which is a pity because so many guests are fans of MJ and would really enjoy this! It would have been cool to have been able to meet the impersonator in person but as soon as the show is done, the whole cast immediately leaves the stage. Make sure to get a seat early for the best view if they offer this during your stay. The only downside is no restroom at the Sports Bar, you have to leave and go back to the lobby. There's only two areas around to use a restroom. Be careful to pay attention to the signs as I saw a woman almost walk into the men's restroom. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. If you want to travel to Isla for shopping, taking either R1 or R2 bus where you stick your finger out to "call" the bus to stop. It costs 12 pesos and supposedly if you use a USD dollar, you don't get back your change. I only used pesos to ensure I got my change back. There's an ATM right at the hotel that charged as $10.00 but our bank refunded it charge (it will depend on your bank if they refund this fee, not all do so please keep this in mind). Lastly, if you need a sim card, we purchased one across the street at GoMart but we had to register with our passport to be able to use this. I didn't see an option at the airport to get an Amigo sim card to avoid this (everyone must register to use TelCel service unless you can find the Amigo sim card). Hope this detailed review helps someone who is planning their vacation.
