Riu Ventura

This hotel is new, clean, beautifully maintained and everything was perfect. They have a great trip offers, the staff are always nice, helpful and hard working. I can recommend it, everything was honestly really great.

The hotel was on the smaller side, which I prefer, but also had everything you need on a beach vacation. The two bedroom suite was huge and had amazing views (12th floor). The beach was beautiful, clean and chairs with umbrellas were abundant. The pools were great for all ages, again with chairs and umbrellas galore. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was very good overall. Many options for our GF child and everyone else. Only negative I have is the Steakhouse. It’s the only restaurant that requires reservations and has the worst food. The steak, ribs and shrimp were all overcooked and very tough. The steak “beef” at the Italian restaurant was delicious (so skip the steakhouse). We will be back!

This resort is fairly new so everything is pretty crisp and clean right now. The resort has a great entertainment staff as well as a RIU LAND which is perfect for small children and will help with entertainment for kids under 5 or 6. Perfect stay for a family with children or multi generational since they have several pools who cater to adults, children or senior guest. Rooms were clean, average in amenities and definitely should have an Ocean Front VIEW if possible.

I travelled to Riu Ventura with my family - myself, husband and daughter and my extended family - uncle, aunts, cousins, their kids, etc. there was a total of 15 of us. This is not my first time in Mexico so I do have to say I have stayed at better resorts, this resort was not the worse but also not the greatest and here is why… we did have an air conditioning issue with our room which they were very prompt at trying to fix so I will give them that, however the issue was not fixed and then someone came by the following day to check in about it, so having said that we are days into our trip now and our room is not getting cold at all, but again that’s fine as they were prompt and tried their best at fixing the issue and finally it was fixed. I do feel however this resort lacks amenities such as there is no room service, there is a lack of variety in their buffet, I understand that the buffet will have more or less the same foods everyday but there is not much change with the food options compared to other resorts I have been too, they would have different themes some nights, etc but there is none of that here. However, the food is good, the chicken is prepared well and is very tasty and so are the pastas. Also, the snack bar (near the pool) no change in food options there as well. It’s the same thing everyday. The service is a hit or miss, for the most part the workers are friendly and nice, I do have to shout out Alexander from the breakfast and lunch buffet, he truly is the best and you can tell he loves what he does, he is a very genuine person he met us once and greeted us by our names after one encounter. Thank you Alexander! If you are trying to get an umbrella on the beach good luck there is only one hardworking guy out there trying to serve everyone, so that definitely was challenging trying to hunt him down to get him to put up an umbrella for us. Overall my stay was okay, would I return probably not but was it an enjoyable time, yes it was. However, I feel like the things I mentioned could have made our stay even better.

Ok, this is going to be a long one as I’d like to address some issues other guests appeared to have in previous reviews! We booked this before the hotel had opened so I was watching very closely at what other guests thought, there were times I was a bit concerned BUT there was no need at all as this hotel is amazing! We enjoyed every minute of our week there! Check in was quick and straight forward, we were made feel very welcome and at first glance we were really impressed! We had an ocean front room and it was amazing, the views were breathtaking! The beach was beautiful! The room is very spacious and the bed was huge! We found the mattress and pillows really comfortable! It was a fairly firm mattress with a pillow top, so it’s really down to personal preference! The bathroom was fab and quite spacious too! The corridors have a bit of an echo but this is probably because they are tiled rather than carpeted but we didn’t hear a sound from other guests so we were never disturbed by noise The air con is quite loud but we didn’t need it at night so it didn’t bother us! Theres is also a ceiling fan which gives off some cooling air if needed! The hotel is spotless, the staff are cleaning non stop, even before the sun came up you could see staff around the resort cleaning! The staff overall were amazing, so attentive and courteous, they really went out of their way to help you, so pleasant too! It’s a big hotel but compact, nothing was far from you, which we liked, didn’t have to spend half a day just to get to your room or the beach! I had seen people complaining there weren’t enough toilets and lifts but because the hotel isn’t huge you are never far from either, and there was never a que for any of them. The pool areas were great, plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, yes a few people reserved them but there were loads to choose from at all the pools and on the beach! There was music and entertainment at 2 of the pools at the front, this was great fun and you could choose to join in or not but it was fun to watch, there were quieter pools too if that’s what you’d prefer! There are 2 bars by the pools at the front, one swim up one and another one on the other side that was shaded, which was great to get out of the sun for a bit, we didn’t have to wait longer than about 5 mins for service! There was also a guy with a drinks cart that serviced the pools throughout the day! The buffet was fantastic, so much choice, we loved all the food we had, it was never crowded and again the staff were amazing! It was a really comfortable environment ! I had read before that people had been sick, if they were it wasn’t from the food! Pepes area could get kinda messy but that’s down to the guests not the food or staff! We only ate at the steak restaurant and it pains me to say that it was awful, we were really disappointed! It was supposed to be a 12oz steak but I’d say 6oz was just fat! And the apple pie dessert, well I don’t even know what it was we were served but that was bad too! We didn’t try any of the others as we preferred the buffet! We actually found that most of the desserts in the buffet kinda tasted the same, they weren’t awful but only ok, some better than others! Not sure if this is typical of Mexican desserts or just RIU ones but RIU, you need make this better!!! Also put some churros on the dinner buffet instead of the breakfast one! The evening entertainment was varied, we enjoyed it, and considering they’ve got to entertain various ages and nationalities, we thought they did a great job, you will never please all the people all of the time! The hotel is at the quiet end of the hotel zone, again something we liked but you are only a short and cheap taxi ride away to the area where there are more bars, restaurants and shops! This may not be the luxury 5 star hotel compared to other 5 star hotels in Cancun but what you get for the price is fantastic and you’d pay a lot more elsewhere! But I would go back in a heartbeat! Would definitely recommend this hotel and all it has to offer ! Thankyou RIU Ventura and all your staff for a very memorable holiday ❤️
