Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club

This was our first time out of the country and to an all inclusive and we absolutely loved Secrets Tulum! We went on our honeymoon and truly enjoyed all the food, drinks, service, and ambiance of the resort. We will definitely be back!

Our week-long stay at Secrets Tulum was, in a word, breathtaking. This was our first time in Tulum, and the resort exceeded every expectation. The design is incredibly unique—they’ve integrated the jungle feel with sand throughout the resort, creating an instantly relaxing, "impeccable" atmosphere. The rooms are easily some of the nicest we have ever stayed in. While the resort is nestled in the jungle, the short bus ride to the beach club is seamless (shout out to Carlos and all of the driving staff for getting us back and forth safely all week!). The beach club itself is stunning, and we spent hours enjoying the beautiful space as well as the beach and the ocean. The Standout Service Team What truly sets this resort apart is the people. We’ve traveled a lot, but the service here is on another level: Jhonny (Beach Club Entertainment): The absolute BEST! He is genuinely kind and goes above and beyond. He hosts great activities like volleyball and aerobics, but the highlight was him teaching us how to make handmade bracelets to take home to our family - what cool, thoughtful handmade souvenirs and gifts! Thank you so much for everything Jhonny - it was great meeting you! And for those looking to stay in the future - don't leave without finding Jhonny! Alejandro: One of the best servers we’ve ever had, anywhere. He was so proactive, moving tables to accommodate us and remembering our drinks before we even had to ask. Thank you so much for your great service Alejandro! Jorge (Beach/Pool Concierge): Our go-to guy at the beach club. He found us the perfect chairs, gave us amazing cenote recommendations, and even helped us practice our Spanish. Gretel (Entertainment): The entertainment team hosts bike tours every day at 10:00 AM/5:00 PM! We enjoyed a evening bike tour with Gretel, who is so knowledgeable about Mayan culture. Thank you for the great tour Gretel! And also thanks for the fun water aerobics class - it was also a blast. Dining Excellence: Sebastian at Portofino was incredibly attentive, and Luis and Emanuel at Blue Water Grill provided lightning-fast service (and some celebratory tequila shots!). Cristian at the beach club made us feel like royalty, always knowing exactly what we needed. Mily and the entertainment team worked tirelessly on the live music and Mayan cultural performances. Samantha was such a friendly face to welcome us to the beach club, and Gasper at the pool bar was a delight to chat with. The Food The culinary experience was top-tier. Our favorites were definitely Blue Water Grill and Portofino, but honestly, you can’t go wrong anywhere here. If you are considering a trip to Tulum, stay here. You will not be disappointed. We’re already dreaming of our next visit!

As someone who has stayed at AirBNB's, Rentals, and Resorts - I tend to lean toward resorts, simply for the fact that the Resorts do the thinking for you - Meals, activities, different vibes, etc. This resort was very nice. The rooms were well kept and gave the luxury vibes one would look for in a great chain. The value was great too - which is why I titled this review "affordable luxury".

Our stay at Secrets Tulum was overall a great experience! The customer service was truly excellent from start to finish, every staff member we encountered was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcomed. The food was good across the resort. Our favorite restaurant was Jasmine is definitely a must-try! Blue Grill was also very good, and the Market buffet had tasty options, though the variety was a bit limited. The spa services were amazing and a highlight of our trip. The resort itself is beautiful, the pools are stunning, and we loved that it never felt overcrowded. Our room was exactly as pictured, and the swim-out pool was perfect for a relaxing couples getaway. This is not a party resort, which we actually appreciated. It’s more of a peaceful, quiet, and relaxing vibe. The only downside was the lack of entertainment and the sports bar not really showing sports, which was a bit surprising. The beach club was nice, and the food and drinks there were good. Unfortunately, the beach itself had a lot of seaweed and a strong smell during our visit. Overall, if you’re looking for a calm, relaxing escape with great service, Secrets Tulum is a solid choice!

Pros: This is an amazing resort from check in to check out. The variety of restaurants was unbelievable. Situated in the wooded terrain gives it an exclusive feel, but still close enough to area attractions. The multiple pools from quaint (Grotto, Zen) to the party like (Main, Rooftop) allows you to choose how you want your day to be. Staff were extremely pleasant and always meet you with a smile. We will definitely return. Cons: Pool water was cold throughout the resort. We paid extra for a swim out and junior suite and expected premium service. Our sink leaked water on the entire bathroom floor for 3 of our 6 days. Multiple attempts were made to resolve the issue and the adhesive used was super strong . We called daily for repairs and each time was told it's fixed. No compensation was offered for the inconvenience of only being able to use one sink, management was advised daily. At check in I was taken aside and solicited for a time share presentation and had to push back pretty hard before they finally took no as an answer. The breakfast food was less than desirable, scrambled eggs had a funny taste, they couldn't have been made from real eggs. We arrived at Jasmine five minutes past closing, there were still people waing for food and I asked for a takeout plate and was told the kitchen is closed and they wouldn't budge, even after I showed the manager people were still waiting for food. Despite these cons I'll give it another shot. Maybe they will work on some of these things, that will make the next review a 10.
