We absolutely loved this resort; while the resort layout is a tad bit confusing overall it was everything we expected and more. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful; Timothe, Ever, Eric and Oswaldo were top notch for service. The spa and the services offered at the spa were great. It was the first time that we had been guided through a hydrotherapy session which I really enjoyed. I felt like I actually got the benefit of hydrotherapy since it was done in the correct order. If you are expecting a party resort this is not the resort for you. It was quiet, calm and just overall relaxing. The resort was clean in all areas; pool, rooms, restaurants, spa, and common areas. Food was great and they really had something for everyone; if you went hungry that is definitely a you problem.

Beautiful resort. very responsive and helpful staff. I especially liked the resort because they were ample vegetarian choices for me which is something I usually struggle to find in Mexico. Would love to visit again someday

I wanted to share my honest experience at Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club. The resort itself is beautiful. It’s on the smaller side, which I usually love, and they really did a great job with the pools and landscaping. The beach club is also gorgeous, with very comfortable beds, and we never had an issue finding a spot. That said, the location is not ideal. It’s about a 20-minute shuttle ride to the beach each way, and honestly, it’s not the most pleasant ride. After a couple of days, it starts to feel like a hassle. The biggest issue for us was the service. It was consistently poor and, at times, felt almost nonexistent. The staff often seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Simple things like saying “thank you” would get no response—they would just walk away, which comes across as rude. Requests took a very long time—15 to 30 minutes for something as basic as coffee at breakfast. I’d like my coffee with my meal, not when I’m already done eating. Cleanliness was another major disappointment. I had read reviews saying the rooms were clean, but that was not our experience at all. The floors looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. For a resort at this level, that’s just unacceptable. To me, this feels like a management issue—if things are run properly and staff are trained well, this shouldn’t happen. Another ongoing problem was that the resort kept running out of things. At the beach club, every single day by around noon, the bathrooms would run out of toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand towels. Even after telling staff multiple times, nothing would get restocked. The same thing happened with food and drinks—by early afternoon, restaurants and bars would be out of multiple items. At the bar, options became very limited, mostly vodka with sugary mixers because they didn’t have ingredients like mint or anything fresh to make proper cocktails. And this wasn’t a one-time issue—it happened every day. There’s also very little entertainment, which made the resort feel a bit flat overall. The food was decent—nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. I’ll also say that the fish tacos at the beach club, which a lot of people rave about, were just okay in my opinion. We had a pretty upsetting issue on our first day. When we arrived, the sheets didn’t look completely fresh, but we were tired and didn’t think too much about it. The next day, we were out most of the day and came back around 5:30 PM to find the room hadn’t been cleaned—but the tip we had left for housekeeping was gone. That alone was shocking. Then we noticed visible stains on the sheets that we know were not from us. It made me sick to think we had slept on dirty bedding. I spoke with the concierge, who at first said housekeeping was already gone for the day. I pushed back, and eventually the sheets were changed, but the floors still weren’t cleaned. The air conditioning was another frustration. It’s set so you can’t go below 20°C (68°F), which sounds fine in theory, especially at night—but in reality, the room never actually got below about 22°C (72°F). The insulation is poor, and there’s a noticeable gap under the front door, so heat and humidity constantly come in. It made the room feel warm and uncomfortable, especially for sleeping. When I called to ask if they could lower it, I was told it’s against policy, which was hard to understand given the conditions. Overall, while the resort looks beautiful, the experience didn’t match the expectations. I would rate it no more than 3.5 stars. With better management, proper training, and attention to detail, this place could be amazing—but right now, there are too many issues to overlook.
