Sensira Resort & Spa Riviera Maya

Okay I will give you the good, the bad and the ugly on this hotel. We visited with our two kids, age 8 and 11. It definitely has its ups and downs. Overall, would I go back? No. In my opinion, there’s better places you can go for this price point. Pros: the staff. They’re incredible. Everyone is extremely kind, polite and helpful. Always greeting you with a smile and friendly hello. The workers work long shifts and most are 6 days a week and they’re just always incredibly sweet. The pools. The pools are great. The bottom pool has warmer water - perfect for the morning hours and the upper pools water is colder, so we always transitioned to this one later in the day because it was more refreshing. We loved the pool temp differences. The resort appearance and cleanliness. Always superior. Resort is stunning and grounds are kept up very well. Always clean. Our last day there was a strong sewage smell by our room but it didn’t last more than an hour or two. Overall, the rooms and resort are very pretty. Every room in the resort also has at least a partial ocean view, which is really nice. Cons: The food - our biggest disappointment. We stayed from Sunday-Saturday and during this entire trip, the dinner buffet was only open ONCE. The only thing open were the 3 la cartes restaurants (one of which you needed a reservation for) and the food was so limited. We ended up having the same meal for dinner for at least three of the nights we were there. 3 of the 4 of us also got stomach sick for a 24 hour period at different times. For a luxury resort, the food was definitely a let down. And for a resort that focuses so much on families with young kids, not having the buffet open is not a good move. Entertainment- didn’t love the area of the entertainment- the room is off to the side of the resort (not in the center) and just kind of out of the way. When the weather is beautiful outside, the last thing we wanted to do was to go in a dark room with a stage somewhere at the side of the resort and watch the show. We much prefer outdoor entertainment areas that we experienced at other resorts. Shows weren’t that engaging either. Our kids never wanted to stay. On a side note…the kids play areas are great. The pool kids area, trampoline park, video game area, mini golf and basketball and tennis court - all awesome. My daughter is 11 and was too tall for the zip line. She was really upset about that. The resort generally is really geared to younger kids - age 4-7 is perfect. But our kids were sadly a bit big for it.

We loved our family vacation. All staff are so lovely .. Jorge went over and above to serve us and Julia is amazing too. Typically food in the main buffet isn’t the best but we enjoyed the food here! Definitely recommend adding the tomahawk steak (it’s extra charge) but sooo delicious! We came over 4th of July and it’s so festive here!

The hotel is amazing, excellent food and the staff very friendly our butler Cesar did an amazing job always attending our needs.

This was our 2nd stay as a family. Biggest highlights of this visit: -What we love the most about the facility is the close proximity of everything so the kids can walk around freely and won’t get lost. -The beach front pool and the environment it offers with activities and the pool side bar is amazing. The kids absolutely loved the food at the pool side restaurant! -Contrary to the first visit, during this 2nd visit many staff members approached us as we were pool side to ask if we needed any drinks of food. This was nice. -The 1st floor game room area was setup nicely for the World Cup! Super fun to watch with other soccer fans and amazing setup! Kids loved the snack bar downstairs at the emoji club. -We stayed at the Jade room this time It was perfect for a family of 5. It exceeded the value of the price we paid! -The Hawaiian show was a 5 star experience. High class performance and memorable experience for the kids. Disappointments from this visit: -The biggest disappointment was that the buffet was closed for dinner. To be honest we were shocked by this and would prevent us from visiting a third time. This only left 3 restaurants - one of which (Steakhouse) you can only dine-in if you remember to make reservations from 8:30 to noon on the same date. The Mexican restaurant was great. Ivan our server was outstanding and the food quality was great. The Italian restaurant was too hot inside; the server lowered the AC temperature for us but it did not change much making it a miserable experience. The food quality was mediocre. The steakhouse was average food quality. Service was great though. Disappointed the bull ride equipment was not in operation. -The emoji club area felt empty. It almost looked like dead space. During the first visit there were more kids playing there. This 2nd visit it felt like everything was moved aside creating empty space. I would recommend rearranging this space and putting up signs to instructs guests how to borrow items for the ping pong table or foosball tables.
