What a superb hotel, absolutely spotless, location a walk down the hill to the port, where the town centre is, and round the back some great restaurants, we didn't get the weather but packed waterproof coats so didn't stop us exploring. The breakfast is fabulous everything you could possibly want and more, particularly loved my bucks fizz. We have been to dubai and this hotel is on par with their high standards. Plenty of hidden gems in madiera, highly recommended the tropical gardens just stunning.

I have stayed here three times now, and it continues to be great every time. You can't beat the value, location, rooftop bar and friendly team. Splash out a little extra for the suite with bigger balcony - well worth it!

The hotel itself is very nice and the staff were really good. Breakfast was a highlight. The roof terrace bar is a great place for a drink at the end of the day. We had bikes and we were well accommodated in that regard. We had massages in the spa which were honestly some of the best I've had anywhere. However, as mentioned in the title we felt the 2 bedroom apartment was mis-sold, I would not stay in that room type again, and we felt the hotel behaved disingenuously in the way the advertised the room online. The main problems are: - You access the apartment through a fire exit door and have to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to the room. Although some effort has been made to disguise the firescape stairs, it's nothing close to the level of the rest of the hotel. This is not made clear when booking. Lugging bags up and down is a pain. - The room has a balcony that overlooks a wall about 3m away, has no other transparent windows in its 100sqm other than the balcony, and hence has almost zero natural light. - There is one downlight in each room, which is crazy on top of the lack of natural light. It's hard to understate how dark this apartment is. - The kitchen-lounge is not furnished appropriately for the hotel level. It's almost an empty room and we never sat in there once in our 4 days. - The bathrooms are the one thing that was ok. Overall the room is ok when you were sleeping but was was a horrible place to spend 4 days. We felt light deprived and our expectation that this apartment would be of similar quality to the rest of the hotel fell well short. Finally, I would stay at the hotel again, but I would not go near one of these apartments.

We booked bed and breakfast, double standard with sea view Room good sized , bed very comfy , pillows lumpy , they could do with an upgrade Kettle fridge cups in room Nice balcony to look at sea view , tv no English channels I did find that the lighting in room was on the dull side , struggled at night to take contact lenses out , buts that’s my opinion Cleaning side , no faults there , the cleaning team work hard to keep it spotless , and friendly , knock on door , if you don’t want room clean they ask if you need towels or water I thought the hotel lacked an atmosphere , not many staff about , the ones we saw we mainly at breakfast, doing the usual morning greeting I read other people’s reviews regarding a sewage smell . In no way is that anything to do with the hotel , when you leave hotel and cross the road to go down the hill that’s when you can smell it , it’s not pungent , just a slight whiff Would I return , most definitely, been to far worse hotels in the past Thoroughly enjoyed my time here
