We just returned from an unforgettable stay and can honestly say it’s a hidden gem that checks every single box. --- ### 🌊 Unbeatable Location & Views The hotel sits right on the **first line of the sea**, offering a level of tranquility that is hard to find. It’s located in a perfect "sweet spot"—far enough from the hustle of Funchal to enjoy quiet, calm evenings, but close enough that a quick Uber or bus ride puts you right in the heart of the city. **The Highlight:** The sea view is everywhere. Whether you are waking up in your room or enjoying a meal, the horizon is your constant companion. If you time your dinner right, the **sunsets** are absolutely breathtaking. ### 🛌 The Ultimate Sleep Experience I’ve never stayed at a hotel that takes sleep this seriously! * **Modern Rooms:** The decor is fresh and contemporary, but the real star is the balcony overlooking the ocean. * **The Pillow Menu:** This was a game-changer. If you aren't happy with your pillow, you can simply request a different type. They even offer **ergonomic memory foam** options! * **Comfort:** The beds are incredibly high-quality, ensuring you actually wake up feeling refreshed. ### 🧖‍♂️ Spa & "Sea-to-Sauna" Access The spa area is **free of charge** for guests, which is a fantastic bonus. We loved spending time in the sauna and then having the unique luxury of jumping directly into the sea (or the pool) to cool off. It is the ultimate wellness ritual. ### 🍽️ A Culinary Delight The food at Vila Lido is far beyond standard hotel fare. * **Breakfast & Dinner:** Both are served with stunning views of the water. * **Variety:** The menus are diverse and everything we tasted was delicious. * **A La Carte Excellence:** We highly recommend the hotel’s own restaurant. We opted for the **three-course menus** every evening, and the quality was consistently top-tier. ### 🌟 Five-Star Service What truly makes this hotel special is the staff. They are remarkably **motivated, friendly, and proactive**. No matter what we needed assistance with, they handled it with a smile. You truly feel like a valued guest here, not just a room number. --- **Bottom Line:** We had a spectacular time and are already planning our return to **Vila Lido**. Whether you want to relax by the pool, enjoy gourmet meals, or sleep on the perfect pillow, we cannot recommend this hotel enough to everyone visiting Madeira!

The location was great with easy access to local restaurants and supermarkets. Near to bus routes into Funchal and other places of interest. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and have an outside space to relax and take in the view. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful. The pool bar staff were lovely, restaurant staff mostly good. Reception staff also mostly good. Housekeeping did not replenish the complimentary coffee/teas which was a little irritating as we had to purchase our own from the local shop. The pool area is lovely and kept beautifully clean. Overall a good stay, despite all the rain!

Hotel is located directly on the see side. You see the see and nearly nothing else. Walking distance to (10-15 minutes) to Funchal ( Capitol ). Garden, pool and other facilities are well maintained. Staff is friendly and well trained. The rooms are tastefully renovated, clean, spacious, and well-furnished. The bathroom lighting is a bit dim for applying makeup. The shower and bidet work perfectly. The faucet water flow rate at the sink are reduced for ecological or economic reasons at a level which is annoying. Breakfast and buffet are very good. We enjoyed our stay very much. We will come again.

1 week stay at Pestana Vila lido (B&B). Room spacious and well kept. Wide selection at breakfast. Theme evening at à la carte Restaurant excellent - wonderful service and food. Highly recommend
