Quinta da Cova do Milho

Minutes away from the airport, but a world away. Quiet is the key word, you could easily imagine that you were waaaay out in the country. I stayed 2 days in the "chalet" a nicely updated 2 story stone cottage. It was tastefully and eclectically appointed with a mix of antiques and modern fixtures. A small kitchen with a cooking surface, microwave, cookware, utensils and glassware! Cozy does not do it justice. My only regret is that I did not book my entire Madeiran stay here.

Immaculately clean, friendly service, a beautiful view of the mountains to the West, walking distance to Santo da Serra, a lovely flower scent in the hotel gardens . This hotel felt very genuine – and quite different to the mass tourist concentration of Funchal. We love Madeira – but will always try to have some days outside Funchal and this was a perfect spot.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a walking/ hiking holiday. Really, a great little place. Very quiet and relaxing. Bedrooms were clean and well equipped with a comfy bed - essential after a days hiking. Food was excellent with a menu changing daily - loved the ‘surprise’ dessert every night! Staff were all very pleasant and attentive with special mention to our evening dining room waitress ( sorry, didn’t get her name) who never stopped smiling! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Excelent place... excelent food. A place to relax and enjoy nature. Very welcoming staff. Beatifull Gardens. Confortable bedrooms and Good Wifi. A place to read a book and nice view to the mountains. Close do teu airport.

First thing that struck us was the silence and the serenity. Beautiful garden, great, clean rooms and very friendly staff. The food served (new menu every night) is of higher standard than any other place we have tried on Madeira. Top gourmet class food and extremely nice staff. The dining area and the fireplace room resembles something out of a movie about the British colonies. Really an incredible place, and we’ve loved every moment here. Right now I’m enjoying a beer on my terrace. Life is great!
