Hypnos Inn Athens Hotel

Nice friendly staff on arrival with easy check in. After check-in we were informed that breakfast was served via a breakfast box and no hot breakfast was available. In 32 years of travel for work and now pleasure I have not known a 4-star hotel to only provide breakfast via a box with not a coffee machine or even a toaster in sight and then to be woken at approx 5am with the sound of booming Techno music from the under ground Rave club next door was not very welcoming. I can accept a breakfast box due to early departures etc but as the norm that's taking the piss I feel. No clean towels or mats were provided after the house keeping was completed. Some entertainment was provided from the police raid on the Rave club whilst we were waiting for our airport transfer

We arrived about 20.30 and checked in very quickly with everything explained to us and booked our morning breakfast box which was delivered to our room promptly at 9am next morning as requested. The breakfast box contained enough choice for two of us . The room was clean and we had a good night's sleep after eating at a restaurant within a 3 minute walk.

We spent two nights in the hotel. We had Deluxe room with balcony. Rooms are spacious, newly equipped, clean. Deluxe rooms also have a balcony, which is a big plus, and of course air conditioning. The room has a bathrobe and slippers, as well as a refrigerator with two bottles of water (no Coca Cola or beer). There is also a coffee machine in the room. There was no hairdryer in the room, however, after calling the reception they brought it to us. The staff is very friendly, helpful. The interiors of the hotel are ok. The surroundings of the hotel are dirty, however we did not feel any danger. The bus stop is about 200m away, metro about 7 minutes walk. The city centre can be reached within 10 minutes by metro. The only downside of this hotel is poor breakfast. The choice is really small - no scrambled eggs, no fried eggs, no bacon. No pasty/spread, no porridge. We also missed Nutella. There is also lack of ready-to-eat fresh fruit, such as melon or orange. Overall the hotel is good, so we can safely recommend the hotel, however expect only a small breakfast.

Great little boutique hotel just outside the core of Athens. Staff were amazingly helpful and the rooms very clean. 30 minute walk to the Athens city proper. Handful of restaurants within walking distance. Typical continental breakfast was ok.
