Sun Beach Hotel Thessaloniki

I had a 9-night paid stay at this hotel. I chose it based on the presentation, number of stars, etc. Unfortunately, not everything written about it is true. The rooms are outdated, with old furniture, old air conditioning system, through common pipes, which made an infernal noise and smelled, fogged curtains, old and dirty carpet, old bathroom, with bathtub and shower curtain, antique hair dryer, bathroom window without handle, large terrace, with side view of the sea, but dirty. You couldn't walk barefoot either in the room or on the terrace. In 9 nights they never changed the linen and changed the towels twice, even though I tipped the maid on the first day. I bought hygiene product and disinfected the bathroom, toilet and sink. They have a beach, which is not arranged and is full of garbage. The road to this beach is filthy, full of garbage and abandoned buildings. For the beach we went elsewhere where we paid minimal consumption. The pool and pool terrace are impeccable. Parking on an empty lot, near the hotel or on the street, in the vicinity. Breakfast, buffet, modest and the same in all 9 days. For those who want a 4-star hotel, I do not recommend it. Maximum 2 stars.

I was there last summer, it was ok. This year big disappointment, on the beach the same mess, completely unsupported but the big surprise was: without sunbeds and umbrellas! Any! If you chose to go there be with well equipment. Something else - single beds are very small, good for children but not for adults. The very good thing was the restaurant, this year better choice, fresh and tasty food.

Well I did read the reviews and have mixed feelings. Very remote and in a run down area with a couple of mini markets, a few tavernas open and in a run down area. The hotel reception and bar area and outside the small pool area are ok but that’s where it ends. We upgraded to a deluxe room but I don’t know what was deluxe about it apart from it was on the top floor with views of the sea. Very dated with a tiny bathroom and only one person at a time. The corridor carpets are marked and there is a distinct odour of oldness. The restaurant although large and clean suffers from the lack of choice menu. Dinner time ten dishes, 2 pasta,2 pasta sauces, 1 rice, I Greek, 1 potato, 1 rice, 1 meat, 1 fish with salads on the side. Fruit for desert or 2 cakes, jelly and a cream effort. This is not four star quality food. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They were very courteous and helpful. The isolation is hard work to get into thessonaliki centre. Takes about one and a quarter hours and requires two buses or €35 taxi ride one way. You pay by card on the bus, no cash, by using a machine. I would recommend you stay closer to the center which is wonderful. This gets the thumbs down for me. If you just want to laze around a small pool or walk down to the beach and have peace and quiet then maybe it’s okay. We stayed all inclusive. There is also a climate tax to pay of €10 per night. It is rather on the expensive side for what you get for a four star.

Just returned from a holiday at Sun Beach Hotel and loved it. I cannot praise the hotel staff enough, especially Manos, Eleftheria, Thanos, and Georgia who went above and beyond to make my holiday so special with their kindness and great service.

So…. If you are expecting 4* please look elsewhere this is no where near a 4* or maybe it was classed as that in the late 70’s/80’s ! Reception / pool area has been updated to a certain standard but the rooms omg Please … a 2x2m bathroom with no window or air filter, shower literally falling off the wall with no pressure so do I need to elaborate I think you have the picture The room a tiny room with the filthiest carpet yes carpet in 33 degree heat brings to mind the Ants that invaded us so on that note to say no more We left and booked a real 4* sometimes things take their toll and losing money is not an option as we were booked for more days but really couldn’t stay any longer .. we left Staff mmm that’s another one to be considered .. not at all friendly on the contrary but hey they didn’t ruin our stay as we didn’t interact just the above was enough Oh well you live and learn
