Nautilux Rethymno by Mage Hotel

We've just returned home after a 9 night stay in the Nautilux. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We were in a room on the first floor overlooking the pool and towards the restaurant, which gave us great late afternoon sun on our balcony. It wasn't the biggest of rooms, but comfortable and stylish. We were on bed a breakfast basis, but also quite often had lunch by the pool. Food was of a high standard, both at breakfast and from the pool bar menu. I think our highlight was probably the staff, who without exception were friendly and professional. The place is spotless and clearly very well cared for. The staff all seemed happy/enthusiastic, which is always a good sign. There are quite a number of sunbeds arranged around the pool and probably twice as many on the hotel's stretch of beach which is kept spotlessly clean and attended by waiters in case you'd like a drink or snack. Very comfy sunbeds and a few gazebos/kabanas which offered a bit more shade if required. From a location point of view, the hotel is a good 20'ish minutes walk from the port and old town. We walked it once but mainly took a taxi which the hotel are happy to book for you. The price is 8 Euros (every taxi charged exactly the same so I guess it's either a standard fare or metered). We did hire a car for our stay, but we were so chilled out that it hardly moved from the underground carpark (15 Euros per day). The only slight niggles were the lighting controls in our room and the 'atmospheric music' in the common areas The room uses touch sensitive controls, which is great, but there wasn't a main control panel near the door, which seems a bit of a shortcoming. You had to walk to the bed side (in a dark room) to use the panel on the wall to switch all the lights on. It felt a little 'form over function'. The only other thing we weren't enamored with was the constant techno music which played over the speakers by the pool and on the beach. It wasn't the loudness, but the constant back-beat which we thought was a bit unnecessary - maybe we're becoming old farts? These are really only 'first-world problems' and didn't spoil our time in the hotel at all. Just feedback. Lots of nice places to eat in the old town and a few tavernas near the hotel which are worth a visit (probably not the place right next door - see my review. Were we to return to Rethymno we'd certainly stay at the Nautilux again.

We had a 12 night stay here, and have been absolutely impressed by the hotel. There were some initial issues - not enough storage space for clothes, nowhere to hang long dresses, heating not working, hairdryer cutting out, but all these were dealt with perfectly satisfactorily and speedily by the staff, which was great! The room itself, the furniture, bed and bedding, balcony with the hot tub, all perfect. The range and quality of the food in the restaurant- absolutely first class, and great value for money. Location of the hotel - excellent, with beach, pools, sitting areas and pool bar all clean and tidy. Close to different eating places and shops too. But the crowning glory if the hotel is its staff, all, without exception, very professional, extremely friendly and personable. And the massage was very good too! Thank you to you all for a fantastic holiday - you all should be very proud!

Out of season week away Beautiful room, great pool outside with bubbles! Great views of the two pools and a side sea view, what more could you ask for! Lovely big bed, great amenities and added extras with a beach bag, and purse with some sun cream, after sun, fan, glasses wipes and hand cream! A really lovely touch, normally you just get a bag! Bottle of wine on arrival and plenty of water, replenished daily. Nice local products in the bathroom. Daily cleaning and turndown service with towels and a chocolate on the pillow. Lots of lovely touches to make you feel special. Only improvements, nowhere to hang long clothes and no draws in the room! So I had to pile things in the wardrobe space or under bedside table for those things you need by the bed. The TV although SMART had the wrong name to welcome me which remained for the whole stay and the mirroring didn’t work. I went half board. Breakfast was lovely, good selection. Good quality and lots of local produce. Food in the evening restaurant is again very good quality, good service and help yourself, good selection of local foods. Local recipes and very tasty! Only ask, it could have been warmer. I ate at the pool bar for lunch which again was good, I just had snacks. Cocktails were nice too! I used the laundry service twice, picked up at 10am ish and it was back by 3pm both times, same day. Pool areas were lovely, plenty of beds but it was out of season so although the weather was a bit hit and miss they do ensure you are looked after my only improvement would be for option of ordering drinks at the sun beds, however if you order at the bar they will bring it over or if you catch someone’s eye. My only put off, I did an online review on the app after day one and gave an 8 which after not even being there 24 hours I was asked why the next day!? I said I’ve only arrived yesterday and 8 is a good score to which she pulled a face!! I was a bit taken back tbh. Asked what was wrong and I said first reflections are good but I’ve just arrived. Lovely area, quite beautiful and steps away from the sea and stunning beach area. The main town is around short taxi or bus and 45 mins walk. Oh and I used the spa a lot and had treatments three times including massages and facials, all brilliant! The masseuses were brilliant and would recommend. Lovely week away and would highly recommend to family or friends. I’ll be back one day.

We had an amazing vacation! A beautiful and aesthetic hotel, with the highest level of service from all the staff! But more than anything, I have to commend the customer service and the way the reception handled everything — we had a personal issue that prevented us from arriving, and just one day before check-in they approved postponing our stay, which ended up being postponed a few more times. They welcomed us so nicely and even upgraded our room! Highly recommended!

We spent five fabulous days at Nautilux Rethymno. It is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at in our many trips to Greece. It is a well-constructed, well-designed, tastefully decorated, clean, modern hotel. Our room was perfect—spacious with a nice balcony. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, tissues and face washcloths were provided, and new bottles of water were put in the room every day. The only item missing was conditioner in the bathroom. The buffet breakfast had a wonderful variety of delicious offerings. The sun loungers at the pool and beach had very thick pads that were so comfortable. There was live music most nights after dinner, though on one night the music was too loud and went too late into the night. The staff was superb—so friendly and helpful. I'd like to give an extra shout-out to Zania in Guest Relations and to the woman who showed us our room upon arriving, who always had a wonderful smile on her face through our whole visit. All the staff helped to make the atmosphere at Nautilux cheerful and happy! Thanks to everyone at Nautilux for making our vacation so delightful!
