We have stayed here twice now and every time it’s a great experience. The staff like Antonio and Cruz are incredibly helpful and caring. The breakfast is always good and the swimming pool area is a perfect place to relax. It’s a short walk down to the beach and close to a lot of great restaurants.
Cannot rate this hotel highly enough deserved more than 3 stars, the staff are exceptional the hotel itself is beautiful the food is brilliant definitely booking again
Just returned from a short break, this is a 3 star hotel so I would describe as budget. The room was clean and walk in shower was probably the best shower I have had in a hotel. My room had air conditioning, English channels on the TV, hairdryer, kettle, fridge and I paid a little extra for a pool view which was great. The hotel is on a hill but I had no issues with the hill despite being 60+, overall in a great location. The pool area, which had a bar that served food was lovely, always had sun loungers free and the lifeguard will provide you with towels for use outside. Overall great value and I would highly recommend, the only issue I had was some inconsiderate guests that were singing and playing music at 2am, but the security guys asked them to be quiet so that did not last long.
Lovely clean hotel. Modern rooms. Pool bar is great, and Antonio is a friendly helpful guy, always smiling.
I returned to Hotel San Fermin by Dorobe for a second time as a solo guest for 10 nights on a Half Board basis from 7-17 May 2026. The main thing for me was to enjoy a quiet and relaxing holiday which I was certainly able to do, thanks to the hotel’s welcoming and friendly ambience. Hotel San Fermin is officially rated a 3-star hotel, but my personal experience tells me it should be rated closer to a 4-star hotel, subjectively at least 3-star + ** Summary Appraisal ** I enjoyed a good experience staying at Hotel San Fermin, so I award 4 TripAdvisor stars. ** Detailed Appraisal ** * Staff * Always the most important asset of any hotel. All members of staff are a credit to San Fermin and deserve full recognition by management. All were friendly, polite, and professional. Many were also good fun and humorous. As a solo traveller, they quickly made me feel comfortable and relaxed. * Guests * Apart from several noisy, rowdy and foul-mouthed stag parties held during my stay (7-17 June 2026), most guests were friendly and always on hand for good chat and laughter. This made for a good atmosphere and helped me as a solo guest to relax even more. * Room and Room Cleaning * I again stayed in Room 120 on the 1st floor overlooking the pool area, nearest to the caravan snack bar below me. Ideal, aside from these noisy stag parties! The brightly designed and decorated room met all my needs ... comfortable twin beds, plenty wardrobe storage space and numerous shelves and drawers to store other stuff. That said, I appreciate that two people sharing the room might find storage space problematic. No issues from my perspective because I was a sole occupant. The balcony was an adequate size and had a table and two chairs. Air conditioning was the best I have met anywhere! The bathroom was spotless and had a great power shower, also the best I have come across anywhere in my extensive travels! The room also had an efficient fridge which cooled drinks very well. Kettle was also handy for tea and coffee. Cleaning – what can I say, other than excellent! I had different cleaners on different days and all of them cleaned my room to a high standard. Every cleaner was very friendly. * Hotel Cleanliness * The entire hotel is spotlessly clean, thanks to all the excellent room cleaners as well as all grounds cleaners – pool attendants, gardeners, and all other maintenance/technical staff. They work so hard, and you can see they take pride in their work. It was nice to be able to chat with some of them. Excuse my Spanish, but I’m gradually getting there. I learned further Spanish in addition to my stay last year in June 2025! * Service * Service provided by all reception staff was excellent. Thanks to all! Service provided by all waiters in the main restaurant/bar was of an equally high standard. Thanks to all! The bar service was slow at times, but that was in no way was the fault of the current bar staff who all worked tirelessly and efficiently. The problem was due to staffing shortages, not helped by having to deal with stag party guests – undoubtedly, more staff are needed as opposed to cost cutting for profit! * Food * The food was delicious. I was impressed with the variety of dishes on offer. I never experienced the ‘bit repetitive after one week’ sentiment that is often expressed by guests in any establishment. Over my 10-day stay, I ate a variety of different dishes. About the temperature of the food, it was at least warm, although perhaps not always. Thanks go to all chefs working in the main restaurant and the caravan snack bar on the terrace! * Entertainment/Activities * To my knowledge, there wasn’t any formal entertainment? I never involve myself with formal entertainment anyway. The TV in the lounge bar was handy for me to watch some sport. Informal and casual entertainment came from spontaneous chat among guests and staff alike. However, I understand that the absence of any organised could be a negative for some guests? * Swimming Pool * The main pool is a decent size and well kept. Same goes for the smaller children’s pool. I used the main pool several times. Very invigorating. * Location * Hotel San Fermin is situated towards the top of a steep hill, about 100 metres from the main promenade and seafront. Bonanza Square, on the other hand, is a convenient 10-minute flat walk from the hotel. It has a few restaurants and bars as well as an excellent MAS supermarket which I recommend. A downhill walk to the strip took me about 5 minutes. There are plenty seafront bars and restaurants to choose from. Benalmádena Marina is also worth a visit. The return uphill walk to the hotel takes longer, at least 10 minutes. Several reviewers have expressed issues in terms of getting to and from the strip. However, I was fine with this, and my walking pace improved each day. I never used a taxi to go return to the hotel. Nonetheless, I fully understand why people with mobility issues needed a taxi. I also used public transport bus and/or train to places such as Benalmádena Old Town, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Malaga City and Granada. Transport is excellent. It’s efficient and inexpensive. Very handy. * Value for money * Overall, Hotel San Fermin offers good value for money. ** Summary ** THB San Fermin is officially rated a 3-star hotel, but my personal experience tells me it should be closer to a 4-star hotel, subjectively at least 3-star +. Once again, I enjoyed a good holiday experience at the hotel. PS: The only significant downside for me related to several stag parties. From a management perspective, they might say that stag parties bring in revenue. I accept that viewpoint. However, there’s also a risk of losing revenue because some guests might not return to the hotel to avoid these events. Gerard (Glasgow, Scotland)
