San Fermin by Dorobe

Stayed for three nights bed and breakfast.Hotel was extremely reasonably priced so we were really pleasantly surprised by how good our stay was.Staff all really friendly,bars incredibly cheap,all areas spotlessly clean,room and pool area nice.Its not a five star hotel but for a base to explore the area it was really good.

The San Fermin Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the beach and about 20 minute walk from the marina. The bus stop is about 5 minutes away too… you can jump on a bus to Malaga or Mijas or anywhere down the coast for 1 euro 75!! When we landed at the airport, we actually got the train to the resort. It took about half a hour and cost 3 euros! The hotel is then about a 29 minute walk from the station. This hotel is gorgeous. It’s clean, well kept, has amazing staff and serves fantastic food. Our room was lovely and spacious. We had a balcony and a fridge, which had a bottle of water in when we arrived. Tea and coffee in the room isn’t replenished so you might want to take your own. We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was superb. There was a chef doing fresh pancakes and omelettes and eggs, and all your usual hot buffet items. They also had a massive selection of cakes, pastries, breads and fresh fruit, along with meats, preserves and cheeses, and cereal. There was something for everyone and it was served until 10.30. The pool is very big and there are lots of sun loungers. We never had to fight for a sunbed and could pretty much choose where we wanted to sit as the pool area was massive. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. There is a luggage room where you can store your cases if you arrive before check in time or are leaving later in the day. The bar staff were mega efficient and there is a little snack bar round the pool serving fantastic burgers and sides. The hotel is very spacious and it never felt crowded or overrun. I would absolutely stay here again. It’s a real gem and highly recommended.

Another great stay at this hotel. I have been coming for several years as a solo traveller and have always been made to feel safe and welcome. Cruz in the restaurant has remembered me and made me feel comfortable and treated me like a friend. Ali on reception went above and beyond when I foolishly left my new sunglasses in the cab from the airport and they were returned the same,day. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are amazing.

My partner and I stayed here for 5 days for a quick break to catch some autumn sun, and we had beautiful weather of around 26 - 29°C every day. We usually stay at Benalmadena Palace but chose San Fermin this time because of its location. Positives: The hotel is around a 5 minute walk from Bonanza Square and the beachfront, which was really convenient. You can easily reach the marina and tons of bars and restaurants. It is up quite a steep hill though, so something to bear in mind if mobility is an issue. The clientele during our stay was mostly British and Irish couples. There were no rowdy groups or kids running riot, which made for a really chilled atmosphere. The pool itself is very nice and there’s loads of noodles scattered about. Our bathroom was lovely and the shower was really powerful. Our room was incredibly quiet in the evenings, to the point where you could hear a pin drop. Negatives: The service at the pool bar was painfully slow. Staff weren’t particularly friendly. The sunbeds were probably the most uncomfortable loungers I have ever laid on! There was a horrible metal bar running right across them, so I ended up having to cushion my lower back with T-shirts and our beach bag! The loungers being situated on grass wasn't my favourite either. Our room was okay but pretty small, and the balcony was tiny. There also wasn’t a clothes rack or line to properly hang towels and swimwear out to dry. The bed was horribly uncomfortable, genuinely like lying on a park bench lol. I was woken up at 6am every morning on the dot by staff directly below us, either housekeeping or people setting up breakfast. We would stay here again if we found a good deal. The location is great, the atmosphere was relaxed and the pool is lovely, but I wouldn't say the hotel was anything special. It’s a basic 3 star. It's perfectly fine if you're mainly looking for a good location and a chilled pool, but don't expect amazing service or comfort.

The rooms are small but manageable and clean. A little tired around the woodwork but again, clean. Beds comfy. Bathroom small but has walk in shower with rainfall shower and seperate hose. Towels are changed daily. The balcony is small and the aircon unit is chair height so best switching AC off before sitting out. There's no clothes dryer or anywhere to put a line so we used towel clips to secure to glass front or on hangers in bathroom. Pool area is nice, plenty of sunbeds on grassy area with plenty of space to not be sardines around the perimeter of pool. Some areas of grass are quite boggy where sprinklers used so become sludgy. No lilos or balls allowed in pool, there are a few noodles for guests. No ball games on grass either. The pool bar serves drinks and lunches and all are well priced, food portions are really big so enough to share. Drinks are in plastic cups even if staying in the bar area but bottles and coffee cups are allowed around the pool/grassed areas! Breakfast ok, hot stuff usually luke warm but plenty of continental options and omlettes made to order. Didn't have evening meals as plenty of fab choices - Bonanza Square, Potters Cottage and Gibson's all within 5 minute walk. Supermarkets and shops all in the area too so no need to go down the steep hill and steps to the sea front Staff are all amazing, housekeeping, bar, restaurant all friendly and cheerful. Particular mention to Ernesto, Lola and Vanessa. There was entertainment 3 times a week, 3 different singers but nice to have music. Shame they have to sometimes compete with the v v loud music from next door hotel! Guests were singles, couples and there were large groups but no issues during our 2 weeks. Felt safe for solo travellers or older guests. Overall we had a good stay, hotel in a good position if you don't want the fancy, often over priced hotels on the front/marina. There was plenty around that didn't involve going down the hill or to the livelier areas. .
