Vell Mari

We previously visited this hotel about seven years ago. The rooms have been refurbished since then and look very nice. Positives Rooms and pool area were kept very clean. Staff were very friendly and eager to help. Negatives The food - where do I start?! There were two vegetarians in our party. As previous reviewers have said, there was either no labelling of the food or barely any. So we had to guess. I spoke to reception on our first evening and they said it would be remedied. There were labels the following day but then it reverted back to none or one or two. The food in general was not hot - again I told reception about this but it didn’t improve. On our last evening the veggie choice was sliced sweet potato. Yes there was cold pizza and chips or cold pasta (if there was any left in the dish) but having eaten out the previous evening, it was a rubbish way to finish the holiday. The chef did make my daughter some pasta with garlic on two occasions which was appreciated. The lack of labelling would be a particular concern for those with food allergies. Cocktails as previously stated were not nice although my daughter liked the non-alcoholic ones. The refurbished rooms are nice but the shower will flood the bathroom floor if the rainforest setting is used. Also there is nowhere to put the soap. It’s style over substance. We also had to pay for the safe - haven’t had to do that for years. Also paying to swap the pool towels is unexpected at a 4 star. Would i recommend this hotel? Sorry but I wouldn’t.

We stayed here for a family holiday at the end of May and couldn't recommend it enough to anybody else. The staff in particular are the friendliest bunch I've come across in a long time and really made a difference, Javier behind the desk and David in the restaurant were particular highlights but I could name any of the staff for praise. The animation team were fantastic with the kids and were always a ball of energy whether that was activities around the pool or on Stage at the end of the night. Praise, Katarina and Alainna (apologies if I've spelt your name wrong!) were all fantastic and that Ricky Martin song along with your dance has found its way home with us! In terms of the hotel food, generally it was up and down, some nights it was outstanding others less so but there was always a good selection to choose from. Location wise it's a little bit further out of Can Picafort roughly 10/15 minutes walk, not so bad for adults but if you have small children with you the walk back up the hill can be taxing, however there is a Ting Ting train stop outside the front door to get you around and there's a bus stop at the back entrance of the resort if you want to go up to Alcudia, which was ideal for us. The rooms are done out to a lovely standard and were always clean. Will definitely be returning at some point!

Safe to say our family will not be returning. To start on a positive note, I couldnt fault the cleanliness of the room and hotel areas, though the public toilets could have been better (but not terrible!) The hotel is in a beautiful setting with all the trees, which makes it a real shame because it has so much potential but you can tell the owners are doing everything on the cheap. The food is absolutely awful. We were all inclusive and ended up eating out. I was genuinely excited to get home and cook a meal - Id like to preference that I hate cooking. On several occasions I overheard guests next to us saying the food was awful and they would be eating out too. I found it extremely annoying that they didnt label any of the food. School/ hospital dinners are probably better. The entertainment was shocking, the staff were absolutely lovely but the activities, or should I say lack of, for the kids just didnt cut it. Considering the kids pool is closed, you would think they would put on something extra for the kids - nope, just got given a picture to colour in..... Evening entertainment consisted of karaoke and quiz, so essentially us guests had to entertain ourselves rather than the hotel pay for an act of some sort. Extremely glad to be back home.

We recently stayed at Hotel Caprice Vell Mari Hotel & Resort and overall had a lovely family holiday. The hotel itself was very clean throughout, and all of the staff worked incredibly hard to keep everything running smoothly. The pool area was always clean and tidy, and the lifeguard was attentive and professional. The location wasn’t ideal for us. The nearest beach is around a 10-minute walk away, and Can Picafort is about a 25-minute walk. Taxis were very difficult to get, so we often relied on the local bus service, which was convenient but could work out more expensive. Having a Lidl directly across the road was a real bonus. Although people did reserve sunbeds with towels early in the morning, we always managed to find four beds together if we went down around 9am. During our stay, some of the apartment blocks were still closed, so the hotel wasn’t at full capacity. Even so, the pool and restaurant areas felt busy at times, so I imagine it could feel quite crowded during the height of the summer season. The food was generally very good. Breakfast was excellent, with a huge selection including pastries, cereals, bacon, sausages, eggs, pancakes, and much more. Lunch was also great, with plenty of choice from both the poolside snack bar and the buffet restaurant, including burgers, hot dogs, chips, pizza, pasta, and salads. The only real disappointment was the evening meal service. There often didn’t seem to be enough food available for the number of guests, and items weren’t replenished quickly enough. The staff appeared to be working flat out, particularly the chef on the show cooking station, who was trying to cook meat, fish, pasta, and other dishes all at once. As a result, guests were often left waiting or choosing from whatever remained. One highlight of our holiday was a fantastic day at the nearby water park, which was very quiet during our visit and perfect for the children. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. While the location wasn’t the best and the evening dining service could be improved, the cleanliness, facilities, and hardworking staff made for a good family holiday.

Absolutely lovely staff members, everywhere we went it was smiles and great service. The kids club team was an absolute dream, me and a few others specifically enjoyed Alana’s activities, apologies if spelt incorrectly, her bubbly and positive attitude clearly rubbing off on us all, no issues whatsoever, on one of the days even managing to get some karaoke in, which the other children loved. Food was great, and they even made gluten free pasta or pizza if requested, along with lots of selection of foods, the drinks were great, mocktails tasting amazing, the snack bar was just as good, the kids going and getting things from chips to burgers and parents not needing to worry about their kid being hungry. The beach was stunning too, with crystal clear water and a lovely strip to walk down beside it. Overall an absolutely fab holiday place, would definitely book again.
